Thanks Clemens, that saved me some head scratching. One minor correction
to your first solution - the second change of "importDir[]" to
"importDir" is on line 173, not 172.
Thanks.

The /dev/vmbus/hv_fcopy device won't be created unless the 'Guest
Service Interface' integration service is enabled in the VM. It isn't
enabled by default. This can be checked with the following PowerShell
command on the Hyper-V server:
Get-VMIntegrationService 'Guest Service Interface'
The upstream bug mentioned by Michael in comment #6 was fixed in
libsmbclient 4.1.18 and 4.2.1.

I'm not sure why unresolved bugs for missed milestones can't be moved to
the next milestone automatically. Less chance of them being ignored that
way!

I think this should be easy to fix if Canonical can find anyone to
assign the bug to. I managed to fix it locally by following the guide at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UpdatingADeb to rebuild the samba
packages from source with the upstream patch applied. For the final
step, I used sudo debi

Assuming Atlant's patch in comment 12 doesn't reintroduce the long
hangs on probing non-existant floppy drives bug (which I've not managed
to test myself as I couldn't reproduce the original problem), couldn't
Atlant's patch be applied and be done with it? Or are the two bugs
mutually unfixable?
(In reply to comment #29)
To put it very bluntly, we don't care much about udisks 1.x anymore (we
especially don't often listen to people calling it a piece of crap) and we
don't work much on it except for security bug-fixes. Because of this, we
don't want our bug database to be littered with
There are actually two patches - the second one depends on the first
one.

I guess the original problem that this bug described is in the
policykit-1-gnome package. The other problem with the dialog box hanging
around is covered by bug #445303.

I also suffer from the hanging authentication dialog but also in places
other than update manager.
I think the dialog is somehow launched by /usr/lib/policykit-1/polkit-
agent-helper-1 as that process appears at the same time as the
authentication dialog. After entering the password, the process

I have already commented on that bug, but I'll expand my comment a bit
more and link it to this bug.
