[Bug 1315836] Re: [HP 625 Notebook PC] Fan speed control inactive after suspend to ram and sometimes on reboot

2014-08-15 Thread Ingmar
Just FYI, I had the same Problem with my HP625, but as it seems, the new
BIOS Version F.50 could have resolved the issue.

Available here:
http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdHome?javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetokenjavax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetokenjavax.portlet.prp_bd9b6997fbc7fc515f4cf4626f5c8d01=wsrp-navigationalState%3DswEnvOID%253D4058%257CswLang%253D%257Caction%253DlistDriverjavax.portlet.tpst=bd9b6997fbc7fc515f4cf4626f5c8d01sp4ts.oid=4173278ac.admitted=1408112671951.876444892.199480143#BIOS

I just flashed it, so I can't give very detailed Information, yet. The
previously seen bad behaviour with temps of 80°C+ doesn't seem to occur
anymore, though.
We'll see.

[Bug 1315836] Re: [HP 625 Notebook PC] Fan speed control inactive after suspend to ram and sometimes on reboot

2014-08-15 Thread Ingmar
OK, sorry, but it seems that I was wrong.
The old behaviour is back, as soon as I use the laptop on battery. Before it
was connected to AC power.
That seems to be one piece of the problem.
Will try to gather more info, soon.

acpi -V output:

It seems that it somehow waits for the CPU tpo reach ~80°C, with the fan
completely OFF. Then it turns the fan on at 100% speed. And that repeats itself
every few minutes, depending on load, of course.
BTW, I am running Debian, but this seems to be a Kernel bug anyway.
I don't have much time ATM, but will probably file an upstream bug, as soon as
I have the time and the necessary info.

[Bug 1158562] Re: system will not start after updating to kernel 3.5.0-27

2013-04-23 Thread Ingmar Olsson
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1167114 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1167114

Hi!

Maybe my foundings can help!

I had a Ubuntu 12.10/3.5.0-27 with the blank screen behavior.
I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P9700 2*2.80 GHz with Intel
GM 45 Express Chipset.

I upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04 (it took a couple of hours, anyone else
experienced that?) but the same black screen problem!

I found this link
http://ubuntu-tutorials.com/2010/05/06/ubuntu-10-04-lucid-blank-screen-at-startup-workaround/
from 2010 !!

And there I found the solution at least for me having a nVidia graphic Card.
The steps are:
1) Edit /etc/default/grub as administrator
2) Update this line
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash nomodeset
with the option nomodeset for nVidia

Enter a similar hardware specification for other graphic cards.

3) Run update-grub as administrator

I am back on track again!!!

[Bug 781595] Re: Certificate verification fails with error=invalid CA certificate

I have no idea how this could be reproduced. Before my vacation I set up
a new CA and new keys and with them everything worked fine. But I
checked the expiration dates and they are in 2018 (my new certs aren't
valid that long ...). But I don't have time for further exploration in
the next weeks so I think if it isn't reproducable it may be closed.

Re: [Bug 379697] Re: Rythmbox does not handle FLAC images correctly

2010-03-21 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
I'm sorry it's taken me a few days to answer you on this. I had to
borrow a machine to do the testing on. (I don't want to use my own
laptop for testing, as I need it in my work almost 24/7.)

The problem is the same in Ubuntu 10.04 (32 bit version at least.)
Rythmbox regards the FLAC image as one long track, and is not able to
utilise the embedded information to jump from track to track within
the FLAC image.
I honestly don't know what log -if any- to send you. In part I'm not
that well versed in the file structure (yet, but working on it) and in
part I seriously doubt Rythmbox will have reported anything, as it
thinks this is a normal FLAC track.

Let me know if there are mors tests you want done.

Kind regards,
Bjørn Ingmar Berg

[Bug 379697] [NEW] Rythmbox does not handle FLAC images correctly

2009-05-23 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

A FLAC image (an entire CD ripped to one single .flac file) with embedded
cuesheet is treated as one long audio-file by Rhythmbox 0.12.0.

2009-01-20 Thread Ingmar
I am having the same problem on 8.10 trying to access a 2003 Exchange
server on a SBS Win2k3.

I have literally tried every combination, from http://server/Exchange to
https://server/Exchange to https://server/Exchange/user.name, using
DOMAIN/user.name, DOMAIN\user.name and so forth.

The errors I am getting are so random I'm not even sure I should post
them here. They range from not being able to authenticate to me not
having a mailbox on the system.

Needless to say, OWA it works just fine using Firefox.

I'm using IMAP now which works well, but I'm a bit annoyed it's not
working. I have actually used this, with the same server, a long time
ago and it worked just fine.

I'm happy to post debug messages. They range from Kerberos errors to the
authentication errors.

[Bug 289277] [NEW] dnsmasq doesn't work with pppoe

2008-10-25 Thread Ingmar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dnsmasq

Hello,

I'm trying to configure dnsmasq as a dns-server for the internal network
and as a forwarder for my internet connection I use with PPPoE.

After starting the machine without a cable to my dsl-modem I have a
working dnsmasq for the local hostnames. But if I open the PPPoE-Session
I don't get my hostnames resolved. It also doesn't work after restarting
dnsmasq. But if I start dnsmasq manually witch the following command:
/usr/sbin/dnsmasq -d -u dnsmasq it works again. Maybe there's a bug
somewhere in the dnsmasq-package.

My System runs Ubuntu 8.04.1, dnsmasq is 2.41-2ubuntu2.1.

[Bug 74927] No automated icon

2006-12-08 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: comix

Ubuntu 6.10
Comix 3.6.1

Comix no longer creates custom file icons when I create new comic book
archieves.

With the old version of Comix (3.1.3) a new archieve automagically got a
custom icon based on the first image in the archieve. I updated to the
newer version of Comix (3.6.1) 2006-12-02 and after that new archieves
have not gotten any custom icon.

I've built and installed Quarry from the CVS on it's homepage. The
results are documented there. ( https://gna.org/bugs/?7585 ) So far
there still seems to be a problem.

When this is solved eventually, will there be released a new bugfixed
version in the edgy respositories, in th same way as when security risks
are discovered?

[Bug 54401] Re: Quarry forgets preferences

2006-11-06 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
[ The bug ] is fixed now and was caused by
 non-ASCII character in your name.

I have experimented to verify this.

I changed my real name in the user administration tool, and removed the
special nordic character. After I did this, the bug disappeared.

Then I changed my real name back to the original. Quarry still worked
fine. But I noticed my real name was still without nordic characters in
the new game dialog in Quarry.

So I edited the .quarry file to include my real name, including the
nordic characters. Now Quarry gave the usual error-message, and
reduced the .quarry file to zero bytes.

The good thing about this is that the reason for the problem is precisely
located and defined.
The bad thing is that most languages have some special characters, and users
with special characters in their names will wish to keep them. Meaning this is
a bug without any acceptable work-around.

2006-11-06 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
I think I must have messed something up when trying to use the CVS

./configure looks like it works well.

but make gives an error. s far as I can understand this is the relevant
part of the output:

ru.po:1869: number of format specifications in 'msgid' and 'msgstr[0]' does not

[Bug 54401] Re: Quarry forgets preferences

2006-10-31 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
The installed version of gnugo is the one that is current in the Ubuntu
respository. It is version
3.7.9-1 (edgy)
and it resides in
/usr/games

The command I used to run it from within Quarry was copied and pasted from the
Quarry help-text. To be presice:
gnugo --mode gtp --quiet
The screen name I left untouched:
%n %v

I believe the bug is fixed now and was caused by
 non-ASCII character in your name.

This is a bit of a surprise. True, my real name contains special
characters, but I've made sure my login-name and home catalog only
contains letters in the a-z range.

I will look at the bug page and try a new build tomorrow.
Unfortunately I don't have time to look into it today.

[Bug 54401] Re: Quarry forgets preferences

2006-10-30 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
Please check CVS version if you can.

Done. (To avoid possible pollution I let Synaptic completely remove
the package Quarry including configuration files, and deleted the
.quarry file from my home-directory before the './configure; make; make
install' process.)

The CVS version did not want to compile, and as I'm not a programmer I
couldn't figure out what was wrong right away. But as the latest
normal release (Version 0.1.20) was only one day old I used that one.

When running Quarry in normal mode the .quarry file stays zero bytes. (The
original error.) When running Quarry with sudo quarry from the command line
or gksu quarry after pressing ALT-F2 I get the error message
codeFailed to execute child process gnugo (No such file or directory)
Please make sure you typed engine’s filename correctly and that you have
permission to execute it./code
upon trying to add the gnugo engine.

I think the version of Quarry I ended up with in this experiment is just
as healthy as the one in the respository. I am able to play against
gnugo using it, or let gnugo play itself. The only problem is that
Quarry persists in not saving it's configuration.

[Bug 54401] Re: Quarry forgets preferences

2006-10-30 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
Perhaps we're getting some place now. Let's hope so!

Did you run Quarry from a terminal?

No. For some reason that didn't occur to me. But I have done so now,
and I got a few messages in the console. This was a normal run where I
added the gnugo engine, and had it complete a match against itself. I
got no popup windows with errors etc.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ quarry
Unmatched element: docinfo
Unmatched element: releaseinfo
quarry: buffered-writer.c:178: buffered_writer_add_character: Assertion
`!(character  0x80)  character != '\n'' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

I have no idea if this conweys any useful information,
but there it is.

BTW, I'm interested in problems in CVS compilation too,
could you post error messages here or, more appropriately,
 to Quarry mailing list?

Sure, why not. But let me warn you: I am not very experienced in this
kind of thing, so the error I had might be completely trivial. And the
output it gave me was very voluminous. Still, I'll gladly paste it into
a bug-report on the Quarry homepage.

[Bug 54401] Re: Quarry forgets preferences

2006-10-28 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
 Does file `~/.quarry' exist?

Yes, as stated in the original bug-report.

 Is it writable by you?

Yes indeed. Both the file permissions, and testing if it can be edited
manually shows that it is.

What happens if you delete the file (if it exists)?

If I delete the file it gets deleted. It disappears from the catalog. It is
no more. Gone to meet it's maker. Pushing up the daisies. It becomes an
ex-file.
If I delete the file it gets recreated by quarry next time quarry runs. But
just as in the original bug-report it stays zero bytes.

What user/group does Quarry run under?

Myself, the user created as Ubuntu was installed. The user with
priviledges to run sudo.

[Bug 63238] kubuntu-default-settings fails to install, when foomatic isn't installed.

2006-09-30 Thread ingmar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kubuntu-default-settings

I don't have foomatic, or anything printing related for that matter, on
my system and since the latest update, kubuntu-default-settings doesn't
install, apt ends with this message:

Instellen van kubuntu-default-settings (6.10-50) ...
Setting default mouse cursor theme to Kubuntu ...
KDM theme customised or already enabled, not touching kdmrc ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/kubuntu-default-settings.postinst: 24:
foomatic-cleanupdrivers: not found
dpkg: fout bij afhandelen van kubuntu-default-settings (--configure):
subproces post-installation script gaf een foutwaarde 127 terug

kubuntu-default-settings needs to check if foomatic is installed.

Thanks for your report. I'm afraid that one of your
 partitions seems to
be too small to complete an Ubuntu desktop installation successfully.
Bug 48355 notes that the partitioner should have warned you
 about this.
 This is fixed in 6.06.1.

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 48355
partitioner should warn about too small disk while
 autopartitioning (some_device)

[Bug 54401] Quarry forgets preferences

2006-07-28 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: quarry

Adding the gnu-go engine as described in the Quarry help-text works as
intended. It is possible to play games against gnu-go as well as get it to
play itself.
But Quarry does not seem to store the setting anywhere, and the next time
Quarry is started gnu-go has to be configured all over.

Quarry does create the file .quarry in /home/username
However the file contains nothing and the size stays zero. It looks as if
Quarry deletes everything in the file upon exit.

[Bug 54222] Mountpoints disappears

2006-07-27 Thread Bjørn Ingmar Berg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Scenario: Installing Ubuntu 6.06 on a computer that already had the
redmond alternative os, and two NTFS partitions. Selecting to manually
edit the partition table.

Problem: In the Prepare Mount points window the mount points for the
NTFS partitions got reset / blanked by accident. (/media/hda1
/media/hdb1) Pressing the Back button and then the Forward button
did not fill in these fields with the defaults again.
