sddm seems to have failed install from cli.
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
chose sddm (just to see how it looked) on reboot sddm failed to load (black
screen)
switched to tty reconfigured to return to lightdm, purged sddm - reboot
lightdm ok.
On Unity
Got this error after installing kubuntu-desktop from cli and selecting
sddm (which failed to install as screen was black next reboot)
recofigured to return to lightdm and purged sddm, next reboot, error on
unity login reporting sddm was not installed correctly, screen
resolution has changed. Not
Occured on login to unity.
After kubuntu-desktop install (reconfig to sddm which failed next reboot
+ replaced lightdm as display-manager)
Subsequent reboot login resulted in error message about sddm not
installed this error.

Also affects Ubuntu 14.04 Vanilla (running standalone Xmonad Window
Manager, not Unity Desktop on Acer Aspire One D260).
amixer -q sset Master toggle (or Master,0) also mutes Headphone and
Speaker but does not unmute Headphone and Speaker when run again to
unmute.
Problem persists whether system
On further investigation. Looks similar to Bug #1026331 (duplicate of
#878986). Which, according to the comments on the latter is a Pulseaudio
issue.
Fixed (or rather triaged) by using
amixer -D pulse set Master toggle
(which worked for me)
or using
pactl set-sink-mute default_sink_name 0
Ubuntu 14.04 on Acer Aspire One D260
I'm getting this rather frequently, first video played in vlc after
login. No skipping or changing position in track, usually in the first
few moments of playback.

I got this bug when attempting to watch a video with totem.
Had previously encountered a vlc related bug (bug #1288206), attempted
to watch instead with totem and after a few seconds of playback, this
bug occured.

This is still an issue in 13.04.
Installed mbola along wiith gespeaker, then en1, us1, us2.
Path to mbrola voices not correctly set in gespeaker, corrected to
/usr/share/mbrola, path does not show in box and even after clicking
refresh, gespeaker fails to pick up the voices.

I just tried to boot and install from the Raring daily build (downloaded
today) on my Acer Aspire One D260 Netbook. (onboard Broadcom 4313
Wirless card)
Before initialising the install, the wireless seemed to connect ok, but
by the second install screen 'Wireless' (first if you don't count the
Acer Aspire One D260 (Intel Atom)
- Just ran update to 12.10 from 12.04, plus most recent updates
I am observing the orange translucent half-screen appear on a regular
basis whenever I move the pointer to either left or right edge of screen
(does not appear on my system if pointer moved to top
I have also observed the behaviour noted by Bas Roufs with Network
Manager in KDE.

Seems to be sorted now - Thanks - you can close this - Hopefully I'll

I've had this problem since The House upgraded to BT Infinity (which is
broadcasting on Channel 12) I can not change this as it's a shared house
and the other pcs and Game consoles seem unaffected. Only my Acer Aspire
One D260 seems unable to see the Access Point for the house using the
onboard
I am seeing this bug when playing mp3 embedded in Firefox. I was
reminiscing to some Amiga tracks from Oakvalleys collection and the Hud
kept popping up when tracks are playing (thought I was leaning on the
keyboard for a while).
Not Fullscreen mode but maximised and with a half dozen other tabs
I think my Acer Aspire One D260 is affectd, by this bug. Broadcom
BCM4313 (b/g/n) Wireless lan Controller. I've trying for two days to
sort out this problem.

I got this error after running an update on 11.10--Update
Manager--Chose Restart From 'Power' Menu due to message 'This system
needs a restart to apply updates' (Unity). After Reboot I logged into
Gnome3 and this error popped up almost immediately.

Occurred when I attempted to run vlc - which hasn't worked since I
upgraded to 11.10. I try it every time I update, on gnome-shell it just
comes up weird and unusable, when I run it in unity I get this error
instead.

No Screensaver set, Screen seems to blank anyway after about ten
minutes, no way to switch it off in Settings. When playing a video, even
when the player is set to inhibit screensaver during playback it blanks
anyway. Don't know if this is related to this crash which occured after
swiping the
Error Occurred when manually running update manager after previous
successful run and reboot following failed run resulting in broken
packages (fixed with Package Manager).
