[Bug 1944481] Re: Distrust "DST Root CA X3"
@mattjones86 that does not seem expected - Let's Encrypt have been issuing certificate from their R3 intermediate since December 2021 (https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/beginning-issuance-from-r3/139018) and have been supplying two intermediates (an Let's Encrypt R3 to ISRG Root X1 and a Let's Encrypt R3 to DST Root CA X3) in the default chain since 4th May 2021 (https://community.letsencrypt.org/t/production- chain-changes/150739). Given that certificates issued by Let's Encrypt have a maximum validity period of 90 days, all certificates that are still valid after the 4th of August would have been issued in this manner. The only thing I could think of that would explain the behaviour mentioned, is if your ACME client was failing to update the certificate chain/bundle (or your server was configured to serve and old/stale bundle). Most browsers (including Chrome) will also automatically fetch issuer intermediate certificates if they're not supplied by the server. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1944481 Title: Distrust "DST Root CA X3" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ca-certificates/+bug/1944481/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1891169] Re: fio crashes when using --offset with a device
I have also observed strange behavior with the fio 3.16 package on Focal. It occurs with the combination of "size" and "offset", and is affected by the presence of "time_based". For example with this command: fio --name=test --filename=/dev/loop9 --ioengine=libaio --rw=write --direct=1 --offset=8M --size=8M --time_based --runtime=2 I observe that the device is written from 8M to the end. I have tested with a range of other fio versions and they all write from 8M to 16M as expected. It looks like the issue was introduced with https://github.com/axboe/fio/commit/ad46c5715ffc5d4e70d2e941225b1f504f23e409 This commit was reverted in https://github.com/axboe/fio/commit/0d0601479d593ca9e96e35f43e2c0586f8358f34 The only fio version containing the original commit but not the revert is 3.16. I have not experienced this exact failure but it seems very likely to have the same root cause. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1891169 Title: fio crashes when using --offset with a device To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fio/+bug/1891169/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1939968] Re: Directory traversal permission not respected even with noperm
** Description changed: I'm trying to mount a Samba share on an Ubuntu system. Both server and client are Ubuntu machines. On the server, the directory shared (outer directory) belongs to a user different from mine, but the owner of the outer directory has granted everyone traverse permission (chmod 0711, basically) to access an inner directory, of which I have been given read access (using setfacl, rx permission). [Bug 1915712] Re: [snap] configure hook fails because the gnome-3-28-1804 platform snap isn't connected
I'm sorry but I'm afraid I can't help any further. I needed the machine back in the office so I just removed the chromium-browser debs (as firefox is the destined browser anyways). The machine originally had 16.04 installed and had an upgrade to 18.04 done in 2018, maybe there was some legacy stuff it stumbled over. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1915712 Title: [snap] configure hook fails because the gnome-3-28-1804 platform snap isn't connected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapcraft/+bug/1915712/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1908801] Re: Acer laptop internal keyboard & touchpad not working
** Description changed: A fresh install of 20.04 from the live USB doesn't see internal keyboard or touchpad input on my Acer Aspire E15 E5-511-POBM. After much private investigation to no avail (https://askubuntu.com/questions/1275809/ubuntu-20-04-lts-laptop- internal-keyboard-and-touchpad-no-longer-work), I am prepared to assert this as a bug. I'll restate the relevant info here, but see the link for a more chronological account. And I guess, for what it's worth, I would also assert that this is reproducible by installing 20.04 on my specific laptop model. So, I boot up the laptop. I'm presented with GRUB boot menu. At this point the keyboard works, and if I choose advanced options and boot into a root shell I can type commands and do things that way as a last resort. However, all the problems seem to begin right from the start of the graphical session, even the login screen. This, in accordance with the instruction of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage#At_the_login_screen, is why I've filed this as a bug in gdm3. As I couldn't run the graphical bug program in Ubuntu, I ran the CLI in the root shell and attached the apport file here. I've tried to follow the relevant steps, but this is my first bug report so apologies if something is wrong. I first noticed this problem a few weeks after upgrading 18.04 to 20.04. Yes, for the first few weeks of using 20.04, there were no problems. And then, one day, I booted up and the keyboard and touchpad spontaneously stopped working. This was mysterious because to my memory I hadn't done any major upgrade or change to any part of the system the previous day. When the system is asleep / suspended, pressing a key or the touchpad easily wakes it up -- after which, they refuse to work again. The brightness key combos (Fn+←/→) and one that turns off the screen (Fn+F6) do work, but others such as volume (Fn+↑/↓) do not work. I see all expected key output when I run `sudo libinput debug-events --device /dev/input/event4 --show-keycodes` and type keys. When I plug in an external USB keyboard and mouse, they work correctly while the internal keyboard and touchpad remain the same. Outside of those specific situations, absolutely no internal keyboard input -- not even Ctrl+Alt+Del or Ctrl+Alt+F2 VT switching, let alone ordinary typing -- has any effect, and same with the touchpad. When I haven't had an external keyboard available I've used the on- screen keyboard to painstakingly run terminal commands by clicking each letter. However, sometimes the on-screen keyboard also stops sending keystrokes. The only concrete situation I can report is what I saw after resuming the system from sleep by opening the lid: at the login prompt on the lock screen, the onscreen keyboard came up, but didn't do anything when keys were clicked, forcing me to reboot. I had the following message in my `journalctl -b` logs: ``` The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports: Sep 17 11:36:20 joel-Aspire-E5-511 gnome-shell[1575]: > Warning: Unsupported maximum keycode 569, clipping. [Bug 1751379] Re: libreswan unconfigures vti interfaces in temporary network outage
Because Debian 10 seems to have a more robust security update policy for the libreswan package than Ubuntu does, I've moved this functionality from Ubuntu to Debian 10, and I believe I got a newer version of libreswan in the process. On Debian 10, the cron job to check birdc's output for BGP session status and run ipsec auto --down [tunnelname], sleep 10, and ipsec auto --up [tunnelname] when the BGP session isn't ESTABLISHED still seems to be needed, but the default supplied leftupdown script seems to work fine unmodified. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1751379 Title: libreswan unconfigures vti interfaces in temporary network outage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreswan/+bug/1751379/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You may notice from my system details that I am running Ubuntu 18.04 from within Windows using the WSL. I have Juju deploying various workloads against this cluster. I'm seeing containers being spun that within 10-20 minutes of instantiation arbitrarily change their IP address. However the underlying IP address initially handed to that container DOES. [Bug 1751379] Re: libreswan unconfigures vti interfaces in temporary network outage
I've ended up with a combination of a leftupdown script which is modified to not unconfigure the interface, plus a cron job which checks the output of birdc show protocols all and runs ipsec auto --down [tunnelname] then waits ten seconds and runs ipsec auto --up [tunnelname] if bird reports a failure, which finally seems to be an adequate workaround for achieving a reasonable approximation the desired stability. That cron job is relatively recent, and I have not done testing to determine whether the cron job makes the modified leftupdown script obsolete. An earlier version of the cron job relied on looking at the output of ipsec status to determine whether a tunnel was working, and in some cases that led to the script not restarting a tunnel that needed to be restarted. The startup at boot order problem mentioned in this bug report has not occurred recently.

[Bug 1797662] [NEW] advpng built from an archive without a .version file
Public bug reported: ``` $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS Release:18.04 ``` *** ``` $ apt-cache policy advancecomp advancecomp: Installed: 2.1-1 Candidate: 2.1-1 Version table: *** 2.1-1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1.20-1 500 500 http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu zesty/main amd64 Packages ``` *** When running `advpng --version` its output does not provide the version of the utility. Instead it reports it as "vnone". Example: ``` $ advpng --version advancecomp vnone by Andrea Mazzoleni, http://www.advancemame.it ``` I expect it to return "v2.1-1". A la - ``` advancecomp v2.1-1 by Andrea Mazzoleni, http://www.advancemame.it ``` After some looking around it seems that maybe the wrong archive is fetched before building it. Possibly https://github.com/amadvance/advancecomp/archive/v2.1.tar.gz Instead it should be https://github.com/amadvance/advancecomp/releases/download/v2.1/advancecomp-2.1.tar.gz. The one that was used is an archive of the git repository which does NOT contain the `.version` file, and latter one linked is a release archive which I think is created from repository after running all auto* tools and running the script that generates .version file. This is all information gleaned from the image_optim project where there is more information in an issue there: https://github.com/toy/image_optim/issues/165#issuecomment-429489170 Much thanks to Ivan Kuchin and Kasper Grubbe over there helping track this down. ** Affects: advancecomp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1797662 Title: advpng built from an archive without a .version file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/advancecomp/+bug/1797662/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1793753] Re: kernel panic - null pointer dereference on ipset operations
I've tested the proposed kernel under the previous test environment - after two hours the host was still up, where as it would have previously crashed within 30 minutes or so.
