[Bug 1899252] Re: quick alt-tab doenst work

2020-10-12 Thread Juan Carlos
Hello, Ive realized something, this behavior only occurs when I'm using
a second monitor, if I alt tab with only 1 monitor then alt tab works as
intended, but when using a second monitor then all the windows of the
app that are in the second monitor are displayed with Alt+tab. This
wasn't the case with Ubuntu 18.04.

Thanks.

Hello, I dont know why that extension shows as installed, it was already
erased when i posted the bug.

So removing it changed nothing.

[Bug 1897758] [NEW] ark does not preserve permissions when extracting folders

2020-09-29 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual
Public bug reported:

This is the structure of a directory:

$ sudo tree -ps
.
├── [d-4096] Peppo
│   ├── [-rw--- 2] Archivo de texto.txt
│   ├── [rw7390] LibreOffice Calc.ods
│   └── [d-4096] zeppo
│   └── [-r 111] Archivo HTML.html

2 directories, 3 files

Then, I run this command (I need root privileges to overcome
permissions)

$ sudo zip -r kk.zip Peppo/

I have run "zipinfo" and the permissions are OK inside "kk.zip".

Whenever I extract the whole structure of "kk.zip" with ark (with
dialog, i.e. graphics, with Dolphin's contextual menu, from console
--running "ark --batch kk.zip"--), permissions of all the directories
are **not** kept. Instead, all of the directories are created using
system's umask (in my case 027, so permissions are rwxr-x--- for folders
"Peppo" and "zeppo"). The permissions of all the files are OK (they are
kept).

If I use "unzip" from the command line (unzip kk.zip), however, all of
the permissions (directories and files) are perfectly kept.

This is annoying since there is no way to tell ark that the original
permissions of directories must be kept when decompressing. Moreover, I
think that the default behavior of ark should be the same as "unzip",
that is, keeping the original permissions of both directories and files.

I think this is a bug because, in fact, ark preserves permissions when
extracting files but not the directories. It seems that directories are
not extracted but created.

Thanks a lot in advance for your consideration.

[Bug 1873087] Re: AppArmor configuration for Akonadi's mysql is broken

2020-08-19 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual
Thanks a lot, Aldo. It has worked.

I see that your workaround was originally prepared to solve a dependency
problem that is no longer present: the package "akonadi-backend-mysql"
is installed in my system. But since the bug is in the working of the
akonadi-mysql server your workaround works fine since, this way, we tell
akonadi to use the mySQL server for its database instead of its own
server. Brilliant. Thanks again.

After doing some research and with your workaround in mind, this makes
me think that the problem is that a valid "akonadi-mysql" profile is
missing in the apparmor package in Kubuntu 20.04, don't you think so?

[Bug 1873087] Re: AppArmor configuration for Akonadi's mysql is broken

2020-08-18 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual
I have this same bug in Kubuntu 20.04. I have performed a fresh install
of Kubuntu 20.04 over the Kubuntu 18.04 installed in my laptop. I
formatted the root (/) and swap partitions, but kept the data in /home.
Everything is working fine with the exception of the akonadi server
which, in practice, renders unusable all of the KDE apps that depend on
personal information management (knotes, kaddressbook, kmail...). And I
think that this is a **huge** bug which should be solved as soon as
possible.

I have followed the instructions given in the bug description and they
didn't work. As root:

# sed 's|mysqld_akonadi|/usr/sbin/mysqld|' -i /etc/apparmor.d/mysqld_akonadi
# diff /root/mysqld_akonadi.ORIGINAL mysqld_akonadi
5c5
< profile mysqld_akonadi {
---
> profile /usr/sbin/mysqld {
# systemctl reload apparmor.service

As normal user:

$ akonadictl start
Connecting to deprecated signal
QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString)
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Starting up the Akonadi Server...
org.kde.pim.akonadiserver: Failed to connect to database!

org.kde.pim.akonadicontrol: Application '/usr/bin/akonadiserver' exited

There is nothing suspicious in /var/log/mysql/error.log (in fact, it is
empty). The worst thing is this:

[Bug 1746340] Re: Samsung SSD corruption (fsck needed)

2020-02-24 Thread Juan Carlos Carvajal Bermúdez
an update on this:

it was actually pcie_aspm=off what helped to solve the problem.

I think the problem is related to the power management of PCIe ports.

Without pcie_aspm=off I started seeing errors like the following ones:

- [drm:intel_pipe_update_end [i915]] *ERROR* Atomic update failure on
pipe A (start=7841 end=7842) time 291 us, min 1063, max 1079, scanline
start 1044, end 1092

pcieport :00:1d.0: AER: Corrected error received: :00:1d.0
pcieport :00:1d.0: AER: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Corrected, type=Physical
Layer, (Receiver ID)
pcieport :00:1d.0: AER: device [8086:a330] error
status/mask=0001/2000

I think the bug is not with the nvme controller but somewhere in ASPM. But I am
not a kernel developer.

[Bug 1858596] [NEW] grub error at the end of the install process

2020-01-06 Thread Juan Carlos Meza Gómez
Public bug reported:

I tried to install xubuntu in an old HP T610 THIN CLIENT over a 16 gb
Flash drive but it was not possible every time I tryed to install it
generates a grub install error message, at the end of the install I
think it can be a phisical error on the flash drive.

[Bug 1746340] Re: Samsung SSD corruption (fsck needed)

2019-12-18 Thread Juan Carlos Carvajal Bermúdez
For anyone struggling with this hideous bug, try the following:

add "nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=250" in /etc/default/grub, for
example:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pcie_aspm=off
nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=250"

then run "update-grub"

My laptop has been running smoothly for a week now. (/dev/nvme0n1
S444NY0K600040 SAMSUNG MZVLB256HAHQ-0 1 81.09 GB / 256.06 GB 512 B +
0 B EXD7101Q)

see more infos here:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Solid_state_drive/NVMe

@kernel developers, would it not be great to detect such disks and lower
automatically the nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us? Thi bug is really
hard to detect and solve because there are NO logs whatsoever. Disk goes
read-only ya know?

[Bug 1844928] [NEW] i2c_hid blocks waking up

2019-09-22 Thread Juan Carlos Carvajal Bermúdez
Public bug reported:

i2c_hid blocks the system from waking up after sleep mode.

I experienced random wake up problems. System will hang and show some
errors. For example:

"bios contains wgds but no wrds"

solution was provided by:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=243878

after adding i2c_hid to the /etc/suspend-modules.conf the problems was
solved.

[Bug 1805712] Re: ffmpeg don't use the VAAPI hardware acceleration

2018-11-29 Thread Juan Carlos Castro
OK, I've done a lot of tests. I hope not to confuse you even more.

In windows, if I try to use QSV with command line, it does not accelerate.
But if I disconnect the acceleration from the emby control panel, the GPU
remains at 0%

I think the hardware allows to accelerate (as seen in Windows), the
problem seems to be between the drivers of intel, ffmpeg or VAAPI.

Do I do any concrete test in one of the two systems?
I am contributing information, but not knowing if it is useful.

[Bug 1805712] Re: ffmpeg don't use the VAAPI hardware acceleration

2018-11-29 Thread Juan Carlos Castro
Hi,

I hope to provide the maximum information.
I found this, I do not know if it can be useful:
https://01.org/linuxmedia
https://01.org/intel-media-for-linux

"Note: The vaapi-driver supports up to Cannon Lake, which will be
replaced by the Intel® Media driver"

But, I think Gemini Lake is before Cannon Lake.

2018-11-29 Thread Juan Carlos Castro
In the screenshots of ubuntu, I use firefox to play the video.

But if you see that ffmpeg uses the GPU.
Is there any evidence I can do in windows or ubuntu that can be used to clarify
what is happening?

It can be, since it looks with GPU-Z does not have an increase in the use of
the GPU.
However, looking in the task manager, there is an increase in Video Decode

[Bug 1805712] Re: ffmpeg don't use the VAAPI hardware acceleration

2018-11-28 Thread Juan Carlos Castro
HI,

First of all thanks for answering

I have found this data, where it indicates the compatibility of video
https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/celeron/n4100#Graphics

if I see the same video in emby with windows (IntelQuickSyncVideo), the
use of GPU goes up to 76%. Therefore, the GPU has the ability to
transcode this video.

If I can do some test, just tell me.

Regards

[Bug 1805712] [NEW] ffmpeg don't use the VAAPI hardware acceleration

2018-11-28 Thread Juan Carlos Castro
Public bug reported:

I have a Intel N4100 and I will use it for transcodification on emby,
If I use the emby on windows, I can use the IntelQuickSyncVideo (then, the
hardware is OK).

But, using emby on ubuntu and with the VAAPI option, there is not possible use
the hardware accelerarion.
But if I play a video, I can see that the use from the GPU go up.

I have tried with: ubuntu 18.10, ubuntu 19.04, the last kernel version,
ffmpeg4, the last VAAPI version and nothing.

More information on emby and ubuntu forum (test, reports, screenshots, etc...)
https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/13029-ubuntu/?p=648125
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2406273

finally in a private chat with emby, I have been recommended to get in
touch with you, since something may not work correctly.

Please, can you help me?

[Bug 1364492] Re: findutils uses nearly 100% CPU and memory resources

2017-01-26 Thread Juan Carlos Cordero González
I found a similar issue in Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS.
The included "findutils" package is 4.6.0+git+20160126-2.

I recently developed a fix:
The problem was a memory leak in the "find" program source code. If you apply
the attached patch and the solution works for you, please, let me know about it.

** Patch added: "me_mntroot is not properly deallocated"

[Bug 1595969] Re: Suspend doesn't work in ACER laptop

2016-07-29 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual
Dear Christopher, I've been out on holiday since the beginning of the
month (without the laptop). I came back yesterday, so now I've been able
to test the kernel.

Good news: when I turned on the laptop, a huge update was waiting for
me, including a new kernel version, 4.4.0-31. I have booted with this
version of the kernel, so as to test both suspend and hibernate and...
everything was OK! I have successfully suspended seven times the laptop.
Hibernation also works OK (tested two times). Therefore, I think that
this bug can be closed because kernel version 4.4.0-31 seems to solve
it.

I apologize for the inconveniences. Thanks a lot for your time and
efforts. Let me know if I have to do something else.

[Bug 1595969] Re: Suspend doesn't work in ACER laptop

2016-06-25 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual
** Tags added: confirmed kernel-fixed-upstream

** Description changed:

I bought this laptop three years ago. Used Kubuntu 14.04 and 15.04
without **any** problem. A couple of weeks ago I installed Kubuntu 16.04
as always (formatting /root partition and doing a fresh install, not an
upgrade). Since then both suspend and hibernation hang the laptop: the
screen goes black, the laptop seems to stop but it won't. After a couple
of minutes the fan can be heard and there is no way to restart linux. I
have to power off the laptop (the hard way) and then turn it on. I have
followed some threads and it seems that this is a common bug (it happens
in several different hardware configurations). The original
4.4.0-22-generic kernel has been updated to versions 23 and 24 (current)
but no way. The bug is still present. Thanks a lot in advance!

[Bug 1595969] Re: Suspend doesn't work in ACER laptop

2016-06-25 Thread Juan Carlos Amengual
I have installed kernel v4.7-rc4-yakkety as requested (packages linux-
image-generic, linux-headers-generic, both amd64, and linux-headers,
all). I have rebooted with this kernel and I have suspended two times
the laptop (one from the KDE menu and the other one just closing the
lid). Both times suspend worked OK. Everything was fine. Finally, I have
hibernated the laptop and... everything was right again! The laptop
halted and resumed OK. I will use this kernel version until the bug has
been solved in mainstream kernel. I proceed to mark this bug as
requested. Thanks a lot!

[Bug 1026063] Re: Two finger scrolling in Netbeans triggers right click

2014-12-20 Thread Juan Carlos Peñuela
I had the same problem and it was because of horizontal scroll. Ubuntu 14.04.01
LTS
I deactivate / activate the horizontal scroll for use with netbeans using a
simple command line:

$ gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad horiz-
scroll-enabled false

$ gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad horiz-
scroll-enabled true
