[Bug 482386] Re: ValueError: unknown locale: en_NG

2016-06-14 Thread Kayode Odusote
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 223281 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/223281

This bug persists in python2.7. The solution given by @bigbrovar

"A fix to this problem is adding

'en_ng': 'en_GB.ISO8859-1',
'en_ng.iso88591': 'en_GB.ISO8859-1',

to usr/lib/python2.6/locale.py" works with phthon2.7 as well.

Hope this would be fixed permanently to save Nigerians the headache of
failed upgrade, etc.

[Bug 1256506] Re: Configuration directory owned by root

2015-04-07 Thread Kayode Odusote
I totally disagree with you. The bug is valid and the solution is
correct.

I used to use geany on 12.04 without any problem but when I upgrade to
14.04 I encountered this error. It is in searching for a solution that
I got here.

So the bug is valid but the solution is correct and it should be closed
NOT declared invalid.

[Bug 1316910] [NEW] Reading package lists... Error!

2014-05-06 Thread Kayode Odusote
Public bug reported:

Just recently cleaned my system using the Janitor in Ubuntu Tweak after
a most recent update. Had done apt-get clean before then.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 wubi installation release 12.04

I got a red stop warning on my menu bar and ran apt-get update which gave the
error below:
Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList
/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise-updates_multiverse_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Running: sudo apt-cache policy update-manager
Gave the same error:
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList
/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise-updates_multiverse_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

I tried using ubuntu-bug' to report this but it could not find the package to
report on.

Thanks.

[Bug 1041914] [NEW] Error opening cache

2012-08-26 Thread Kayode Odusote
Public bug reported:

I got the error message on my system and I was not doing anything
related to the update manager or software installation. I was requested
by the system to report it with the following message:

An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package
information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include
the following error message:

'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with
MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise-
security_main_i18n_Translation-en, E:The package lists or status file
could not be parsed or opened.'

Hope all this means something to you guys and hopefully it would help
improve the system.

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS in wubi-ubuntu on a Windows 7 Toshiba
machine.

PS: I could not get the package version from the terminal as it gave the
following error:
fshd@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-cache policy pkgname
[sudo] password for fshd:
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList
/var/lib/apt/lists/security.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise-security_main_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
fshd@ubuntu:~$

Also, I was unable to open Software Centre as it crashed everytime I
tried to open it with a request to send a report but which I don't think
was sent even though I checked the box.

Hope I have provided enough information. I am going to reboot the
system and I hope it would work okay next time.

[Bug 697095] Re: polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 crashed with SIGSEGV in g_datalist_id_set_data_full() during logout

2011-09-27 Thread Kayode Odusote
Scenario same as #123. Guess it is more of a nuisance than a major
headache, which is why nobody is working on it. Guess we should all
just ignore it until someone is bothered enough by the nuisance value to
work on it.

[Bug 682023] [NEW] installation crashed

2010-11-26 Thread Kayode Odusote
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I was installing Ubuntu 10.10 from a USB drive. I have two hard drives
with the hope of setting up RAID, I partitioned the two drives the same
way (sd1 - ext4 and sd5 - swap) with mount / in sda and /home in sdb
as the system did not allow mount / on both. The installation crashed
whilst trying to remove unwanted packages. The message requesting me to
file this bug asked me to attach two files but the extra options allows
only on attachment. I'll try to attach the second file
(/var/log/partman) later.

** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)

[Bug 617678] Re: package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-08-20 Thread Kayode Odusote
I could not backup the database with the instructions given.

Eventually on the advise of a friend I moved the database:

  sudo mv /var/lib/mysql /var/lib/mysql.corrupted

after doing:

   sudo apt-get purge mysql-server-5.1

then I was able to reinstall the server:

   sudo apt-get install mysql-server-5.1

Now MySQL server is working perfectly but I do not have access to my old
database. Not too bad as I had no precious data in it. Even at that
would do backup of non-precious data as you never know when the
unexpected may happen.

Thanks a lot for the assistance.

[Bug 617678] Re: package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-08-17 Thread Kayode Odusote
Thanks but the purging and installing the mysql-server-5.1 did not help.
My databases were not dropped. I tried dropping one of them after I
login to mysql, then the server was gone as the error recurred.

I would be glad to send my databases to you guys to help find the bug
and help others in future as I intend to uninstall Ubuntu and reinstall
everything all over again.

I am not a geek so how do I copy and send you the databases as I am
sure mysqldump would not work. I use phpMyAdmin to manage mysql server
but it is unable to connect once the server has gone away,

100815 19:28:46 - mysqld got signal 6 ;
This could be because you hit a bug. It is also possible that this binary
or one of the libraries it was linked against is corrupt, improperly built,
or misconfigured. This error can also be caused by malfunctioning hardware.
We will try our best to scrape up some info that will hopefully help diagnose
the problem, but since we have already crashed, something is definitely wrong
and this may fail.

key_buffer_size=16777216
read_buffer_size=131072
max_used_connections=0
max_threads=151
threads_connected=0
It is possible that mysqld could use up to
key_buffer_size + (read_buffer_size + sort_buffer_size)*max_threads = 345919 K
bytes of memory
Hope that's ok; if not, decrease some variables in the equation.

Don't know if this would be of any help. I copied it from the error.log

100815 19:28:46 - mysqld got signal 6 ;
This could be because you hit a bug. It is also possible that this binary
or one of the libraries it was linked against is corrupt, improperly built,
or misconfigured. This error can also be caused by malfunctioning hardware.
We will try our best to scrape up some info that will hopefully help diagnose
the problem, but since we have already crashed, something is definitely wrong
and this may fail.

key_buffer_size=16777216
read_buffer_size=131072
max_used_connections=0
max_threads=151
threads_connected=0
It is possible that mysqld could use up to
key_buffer_size + (read_buffer_size + sort_buffer_size)*max_threads = 345919 K
bytes of memory
Hope that's ok; if not, decrease some variables in the equation.

[Bug 617678] [NEW] package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2010-08-13 Thread Kayode Odusote
Public bug reported:

Problem started with failure to update my sites after my system hung and
forced hard shutdown. On rebooting, could not get the server to
connect neither could I stop it. I got Error #2002 unable to connect
with my phpMyAdmin. Then on the terminal, I could not connect to mysql
as root got: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server
through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111)

Tried searching for the solution but all problem sites talk or error
with /var/lib/mysqld/mysqld.soc (2). Solutions offered did not help
including that from the MySQL reference manual.

So I decided to upgrade the package but it would not install as it could
not stop the server that was running. I had not been able to stop it
either with /etc/int.d/mysql stop or service mysql stop.

At present I am l am locked out of /var/lib/mysql - access denied.

I am running Ubuntu 10.4 on windows using wubi.exe

Hope you guys can find a solution soon otherwise I have to uninstall
Ubuntu and start all over again - painful as many days and nights of
work would be lost.
