[Bug 291757] Re: Fail to detect Western Digital hard drive on install

2009-07-20 Thread Ken Kopin
Well, nevermind. I just went with 9.04. Also, I suspect the CD I was
using with 8.10 was corrupt is some subtle way. (It did pass the cd
test, however)

[Bug 291757] Re: Fail to detect Western Digital hard drive on install

2009-07-12 Thread Ken Kopin
Upon trying to install Ubuntu Server 8.10 (lts) as a clean install over
an old version of Ubuntu Desktop 7.04, I am getting this exact issue.

My drive is a WDC WD200EB, and my IDE Device is correctly identified in
7.04 as 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 IDE which seems to be a bog-standard Intel
IDE chipset on my Intel SE440BX-2 Motherboard.

I am willing to upload all the necessary files, but wasn't sure of the
protocol. Do I need to open a separate bug, or just start adding files
to this one?

I would really like to use 8.10 since it has a longer life-cycle, but am
willing to try 9.04.
