[Bug 1738156] [NEW] mdadm may broke bbl if bitmap is too large
Public bug reported: mdadm 3.3-2ubuntu7.6 (for xenial) has a bug which may break an internal write-intent bitmap. Due to this bug, a bitmap overlaps with a bbl (bad block log), then the bbl gets to be inconsistent. The cause of the bug is that a bbl is placed at a fixed location (80 sectors from the beginning of a disk). Because an internal write-intent bitmap is placed before the bbl (16 sectors from the beginning of a disk), it overlaps with the bbl when it grows too large (> 64 sectors). See this figure. https://cdn-ak.f.st- hatena.com/images/fotolife/u/uchan_nos/20171126/20171126111715.png This bug has been fixed in upstream of mdadm. The fixing commit is https://github.com/neilbrown/mdadm/commit/1b7eb672f7792313cc1517feaae8267575fc496b I tested the bug on the following versions: - mdadm 3.3-2ubuntu7.6 (for xenial) : The bug is reproduced - mdadm 3.4-4ubuntu0.1 (for zesty) : The bug is reproduced - mdadm 4.0-2 (for artful) : The bug has been fixed I want you to backport the patch to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS because the bug is serious. [Bug 1664764] Re: ARM Opentack API/Dashboard calls are very slow
Ryan Beisner (1chb1n) wrote on 2017-01-26: Without scientific data at this point, I can confirm that every CLI/API call I make on a freshly-deployed Xenial-Mitaka arm64 cloud is noticeably sluggish compared with x86 deploys, where the x86 machines are 6 years old, have 75% of the RAM, and less than half the advertised cores. This is worth profiling without OpenStack in the mix. I'd like to have HWCERT or Server Team or Kernel Team to provide system performance profiling methodology info (presuming there is an existing approach). Then I'd like to exercise that on these arm64 machines and the x86 machines, then compare to get baseline info (again, absent OpenStack). @raghu: please see if you can gather info from other teams and direct that info here. [Bug 1664764] [NEW] ARM Opentack API/Dashboard calls are very slow
Public bug reported: dann frazier (dannf) on 2016-12-23 : I'm using openstack-base deployed on an arm64-only MAAS (xenial/newton). Both the CLI and dashboard are very slow to respond. CLI commands (e.g. nova list) take about 15s to complete. Logging into the dashboard takes more than 30s. 'top' shows plenty of available CPU/memory on the dashboard node. Note: This isn't new - it is something we've observed with previous versions of Ubuntu OpenStack as well, but haven't yet gotten to the bottom of it. ** Affects: horizon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: arm64 openstack uosci -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1664764 Title: ARM Opentack API/Dashboard calls are very slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/horizon/+bug/1664764/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Nevertheless, here's the result with a fully-deployed xenial-mitaka next.yaml bundle from the o-c-t (amd64, serverstack, some package versions included in the paste): https://pastebin.canonical.com/178064/ I checked it from the nova, libvirt, qemu and guest POV - it looks good I wasn't able to reproduce the original issue. virtio-blk devices are used by default so PCI-hotplug (http://wiki.qemu.org/Features/PCIBridgeHotplug) was triggered inside the guest kernel. I verified that libvirt has set up an RBD for the added virtio-blk device and that it was visible by qemu (checked via QMP) and the guest (dmesg + lsblk). Removal worked just fine as well. [Bug 1563990] [NEW] Need a GUI option to set per node kernel parameters
Public bug reported: In the near future, we'd expect to have a number of new ARM64 platforms ( Cavium, APM, Qualcomm, Broadcom etc) supported in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Some of these use UEFI + DTB as the default boot mechanism, whereas others are expected to use UEFI +ACPI as thedefault boot mode. Upstream kernel (and hence Ubuntu 16.04) currently defaults to booting with DTB mechanism when it finds DTB info on the platform, which many of the UEFI+ACPI boot mode platforms also tend to provide as a backup. So we need to be able to pass a kernel parameter to force ACPI mode boot for platforms which would like to use UEFI +ACPI as the default boot mode. MaaS API today provides a method to pass in per node kernel parameters via tags. But there is no way today to do this from GUI. Running tcpdump before loading kernel in grub menu shows timeouts occurring, as captured in the below log : http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~ming/grub/apm.tcpdump Following are the detailed reproduction steps : 1) setup PXE boot entry in UEFI(no any parameter to grub) 2) build one grub from upstream (and/or Wily) and put it in PXE server 3) setup grub config, suppose the shape is like below: menuentry 'Install for arm64' { linux /ubuntu-installer/arm64/Image --- console=ttyS0,115200 initrd /ubuntu-installer/arm64/initrd.gz } 4) start PXE booting in UEFI 5) grub prompt is coming 6) select 'Install for arm64' menu item and press 'enter' to start loading kernel 7) then hangs inside loading kernel ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1508893 Title: TFTP timeout on ARM64 hw when booting from grub that was PXE loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1508893/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1508893] Re: TFTP timeout on ARM64 hw when booting from grub that was PXE loaded
Ming Lei has identified that this issue is fixed with the following upstream grub patch: commit 49426e9fd2e562c73a4f1206f32eff9e424a1a73 Author: Andrei BorzenkovDate: Thu May 7 20:37:17 2015 +0300 efinet: open Simple Network Protocol exclusively The next step is to backport this patch into Wily and probably also Trusty. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1508893 Title: TFTP timeout on ARM64 hw when booting from grub that was PXE loaded To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1508893/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1381967] Re: mongodb shell crash on arm64
I believe the only *ARM64* MongoDB version that is reasonably expected to work (i.e. without server side scripting and at demo grade quality) is out of a PPA : https://launchpad.net/~mongodb- arm64/+archive/ubuntu/ppa . The mongoDB charm was recently enhanced (By Charles Butler) to add an option to speficy this PPA when installing MongoDB. So I thinkany ARM64 testing should be focused on this PPA. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mongodb in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1381967 Title: mongodb shell crash on arm64 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mongodb/+bug/1381967/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
