If I switch an application like the PDF Viewer to full screen mode and ALT-TAB to a different application and then want to come back with ALT- TAB to the PDF Viewer the screen starts to flicker (showing back ground image for 0.1 secs then the application for 0.1 secs and then it repeats with back ground image...) until I release ALT-TAB. This bug is partially fixed. The jitter still occurs but it stops once you finished switching between applications. Open any arbitrary PDF-Document with the Evince Document Viewer 3. Press F11 to get into the Full-Screen-Mode of Evince 4. Okay, I can agree with calling it not a bug, but it is definatelly a missing feature which makes Ubuntu hard to use for noobs. The problem is that people have to set the route manually (e.g. by invoking an extra script, in time withing 60 secs) after connecting to the WLAN with the plugin. I observed the same here. If I start Evolution after reboot, no exchange pop-ups appear. After unchecking and rechecking my exchange calendar in Edit-Preferences-Calendars and Tasks-Alarms, the pop-ups appear. However this is not of persistent nature. After the next reboot by default no exchange pop-ups appear as long as I do not uncheck and recheck my exchange calender again. Dear Craig, I tried to make it work properly by the usage of Only use the VPN connection for these addresses, but it simply does not work. The reason is: the PPTP applet always creates the following WRONG routing entry, regardless what I put into the X-NM-Routes field: 172.16.3.253172.16.3.254255.255.255.255 UGH 0 00 eth0 I vote for considering this behaviour as a bug or at least as a feature request, since as long as this problem is not solved I am unable to setup a proper PPTP connection which is a real reduction of functionality. I kindly ask you to reopen this issue. By the way, I really do not understand why the usage of PPTP-VPN is so complicated under Linux. Under Windows and Mac its so easy... I just need to enter the VPN-server name login and password and everything works. Can anybody explain me why this is so complicated with Linux? Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager-pptp Dear developers, I noticed the following nasty bug with my Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn when I try to connect to the VPN-PPTP secured wireless network at the University of Potsdam campus via the PPTP plugin of the network manager: After creating the PPTP connection with VPN-server the internet connection doesn't work. The reason is that after the connection is established, the route to the VPN-Server is changed in a way that all packages to the VPN server are send to the networks gateway instead of to the VPN server. Therefore the connection does not work and after slightly more then a minute the PPTP-demon decides to break the connection because he do not get any echo responses. Additionally to this, the network manager applet does not show that the connection breaks. You can reproduce this bug on our campus by doing the following: 1. Use the network manager and activate the “Universitaet Potsdam ZEIK” network. 2. Activate the VPN-Connection from the file “UP-ZEIK.pcf” (see attachment or below) Execution of “route -n” results in: Kernel IP Routentabelle ZielRouter Genmask Flags Metric RefUse Iface 172.16.3.253172.16.3.254255.255.255.255 UGH 0 00 eth0 172.16.2.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.254.0 U 0 00 eth0 169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 1000 00 eth0 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 U 0 00 ppp0 The problem is that the VPN-Server 172.16.3.253 is routed via the Gateway 172.16.3.254. MANUAL SOLUTION: The manual solution to this problem is to simply change the routing table within 60 seconds after the VPN connection is established (after the applet stopped the animation sequence which indicates that the connection phase is ongoing). To properly change the routing table the following commands have to be entered from the user “root”: route del 172.16.3.253 route add 172.16.3.253 dev eth0 This results in the following routing table: 172.16.3.2530.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH0 00 eth0 172.16.2.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.254.0 U 0 00 eth0 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 U 0 00 ppp0 Hint: eth0 is the WLAN interface on my laptop... this might differ from your laptop. I have evolution running. I am not sure what the calender applet is, but on my desktop also the time and date is shown in the upper right corner. When clicking on this, a calender including all tasks (including exchange stored ones) is showed. I tried this now: I opened an SSH connection from my destop computer to my laptop via WLAN. Then I started to change the brightness of the display. After several display brightness changes the laptop crashed and freezed. The open SSH connection freezed too, new connection could not be established. It seems that the whole Kernel hangs. Hint: Sometimes you need only one brightess change on other days I need ten or more of them to hang the system. [Bug 69688] Evolution tasks are incompatible to Outlook tasks
Public bug reported: I am working with both Evolution and MS-Outlook (unfortunatelly I need to continue doing this until I can handle all MS-Documents without problems with Ubuntu). Therefore I noticed the following incompatiblity between tasks stored by Outlook in the exchange server and tasks stored by Evolution in the exchange server: Outlook does not differentiate between tasks with normal and (none) priorty. Both concepts are handled as tasks with normal priority. Unfortunatelly Outlook stores tasks with normal priority without any priority label (as (none) priority task). This results in all these tasks without a priority label are shown in Evolution as (none) tasks. This is a minior bug but it is really nasty because it puzzles the ordering of tasks: high, normal, low, (none). Causing all normal tasks stored by Outlook to be shown in the last position in Evolution instead of in between of high and low (when ordering is activated). In the opposite direction these problem seems not to occur. Can anybody do me the favour and add somewhere in the many lines of Evolution-Code a proper line which makes Evolution handling tasks without a priority label as normal priorised tasks?
