Re: [Bug 75223] Re: grub_install to sda (4GB micro-drive)

2006-12-17 Thread Leo K.
Hi Henrik,

It will take a while to repro (and I am sure I can) but I actually
found the reason. This is nothing to do with microdrive it is
all to do with 4GB capacity of it. Ubuntu in it's current
package needs more than 4GB. However if you run it
to install to any partition = 4GB it will carry installation
to the very end and than run grub-install even if there is zero
bytes available at destination. No wonder bug-install fails.

I believe the bug should be fixed first in ubuntu install but
it won't hurt if grub also checks the du/df of destination
before it try to install itself.

If you still need log file I will create one for you.

Regards

Leo

Hello. Thanks for filing a bug. Could you please attach /var/log/syslog
and /var/log/partman to this bug? That would help us better identify the
 cause of the problem. Thanks!

This page contains detailed information on uploading log files:
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs (you will have
to repeat the install attempt with the same Live CD to get them)
