I continue to have issues here. This is likely unrelated, but worth mentioning that I noticed VirtualBox VMs using the NAT virtual network are also affected by the issues in question (VMs using the Bridged virtual network adapter do not). Yes, it happens with dnsmasq by itself. However it appears that dnsmasq is caching the result, so when it sees a good one it will keep serving it. Added above tag because the root issue that caused me to find this was not present on 11.10: In the following default configuration 1 out of 4 DNS queries fail. (DNSMasq seems to rotate queries between the listed servers) More information: I noticed this originally when the computer was reporting unable to update packages, because it could not resolve hostnames needed to download packages, and was evidenced further by Firefox unable to load pages inconsistantly (i.e. it would load google fine for a couple of clicks, then fail, then start working again) when my 11.10 desktop was able to load the same pages consistantly. ** Tags added: regression-release -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/991308 Title: DNS Querying fails if any DNS server is unreachable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/991308/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 606887] [NEW] Does not support Mobile Broardband
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: indicator-network Why does indicator-network have to front-end connman when network- manager already has all the features a desktop user needs for network management such as Mobile Broadband, VPN, etc. Why can't indicator-network be rewritten to be a front-end replacement for network-manager-gnome (the Notification Area front-end for network- manager). Surely this would be a much better option. I would of thought that it would be easier to rewrite indicator-network to work with network-manager (and change network-manager so it doesn't depend on network-manager-gnome anymore) than to implement the necessary features in connman and provide front end options for these new features in indicator-network? ** Affects: indicator-network (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: connman indicator-applet indicator-applett-complete indicator-network network-manager network-manager-gnome -- Does not support Mobile Broardband https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/606887 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 453863 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/453863 I also had this bug - when I open a video file (like an avi or flv or mp4). However I found a solution on the ubuntu forums - I ran the following commands: rm ~/.gstreamer-0.10/* This removed the Gstreamer settings for the current user. I then installed Gstreamer-Tools (check in synaptic to see if you already have it, if not install it - or run sudo apt-get install gstreamer-tools without quote marks). and then ran the gstreamer-tools command: gst-inspect to rebuild the gstreamer settings. [Bug 542005] Re: faulty symlinks on mounted samba volumes
I checked, You're right. It confused me that this have been changed just like that in the next version (for me) . But the question is still there: Why can't unix extension and wide links work together? I know it a security hole, but I really need this option one way or another. -- faulty symlinks on mounted samba volumes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/542005 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 542005] Re: faulty symlinks on mounted samba volumes
I don't get it what example you're exactly expecting but here is the full story: I have 4 software raid arrays of 2 hard drives. (So md0 is the system's, md1 and md2 are storages, and md3 is for a kvm guest.) Symlinks already existed and newly created work properly on md1, only inside the partition despite who owns them. Symlinks pointed to somewhere on md0 or md2 just don't, not matter where they are or which user owns them. Linux clients don't see the owner (not even numbers) and the attributes so ls -l shows only ? marks for every details. Windows clients just say access denied. In case it matters the filesystems on the system is ext3, on the storages are ext4. As far as I know that md1 ain't different in any way. Only Samba's having trouble with symlinks... For now I've turned off unix extensions, I don't really need it. -- faulty symlinks on mounted samba volumes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/542005 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Public bug reported: used recomended command gksu update-manager -c typed in password chose the upgrade option beside the Ubuntu 6.10 in the popup window upgrade starts and completes the first two steps (which names I don't remember) giving an error that it can't change sources.lst and on the third step prints this error and rolles back to Dapper A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport. so here are the suggested files contents: ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Error during Upgrade to Edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/93455 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
