2020-05-08 Thread Lisa Nelson
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

When the computer is suspended, moving the mouse (External logitech)
causes the computer to come out of hibernation. I can tell because the
Legion logo lights up. After a little while (minute?) it evidently
suspends again because the logo turns off again.

I will repeat the sequence and when it happens again I'll attach the
requested file.  It might take a while as it doesn't happen often.

[Bug 1876923] [NEW] Xorg freeze on shutdown

2020-05-05 Thread Lisa Nelson
Public bug reported:

The system was suspended, it recovered perfectly.
When I did a shutdown, the system hung with a message about waiting for Xorg.
After several minutes, I pressed the power button once and the system responded
with another message about sending sigkill to Xorg. Still didn't shutdown and
went into the 'waiting for Xorg' again.
I held the power button and turned the system off. Not sure if I can reproduce
this, or what logs would help with the problem.

[Bug 1861056] [NEW] Geolocation fails

2020-01-27 Thread Lisa Nelson
Public bug reported:

73.0b10 (64-bit)

Ubuntu 18.04 with all updates.

This problem started after a recent 'upgrade' to firefox.

I've verified this problem using other web browsers that work.

About a week ago geolocation from a web site started to fail, so I
installed the firefox-next PPA and did get an upgrade to firefox which
did correct the problem with gelocation failing.

Then on the next update, it started to fail once again.

The web site I use to test it is www.repeatermap.us it simply centers
you on the map. This no longer works on Ubuntu 18.04/firefox. But it
does work on Windoze/IE. It used to work on both.

[Bug 1849217] Re: Steam game freezes on startup (only on Xorg session)

2019-11-05 Thread Lisa Nelson
Same thing has happened to me.
Ubuntu 19.10 upgrade with all updates installed.
Game shows black screen with mouse control, but the game doesn't start. After
a minute I get the opening screen with the man in yellow suit, but no mouse
controls at all. I can alt-tab and try to switch to other screens, but that
doesn't work. I stay locked in the game screen with no way out.
I can CTL-ALT-F3 and open a terminal session and restart the computer.
I have Nvidia card that has always worked before.

Re: [Bug 1704171] Re: WiFi connections unstable

2017-09-27 Thread Lisa Nelson
It's done it on all the 17.04 kernels, so I don't think it's a kernel
issue.  It's got something to do with the wifi manager and making the
connection.  See the long log I posted of the attempts (failing) to
connect to wifi.  But I will try the 4.13 kernel, but can't for a few days.

[Bug 1704171] Re: WiFi connections unstable

2017-09-26 Thread Lisa Nelson
I spoke too soon, this morning it failed the same way twice.
After the 3rd re-boot it worked.
Reading the logs I posted on this bug, I believe this issue is related to some
race condition on startup. Not related to the kernel.

2017-09-25 Thread Lisa Nelson
Afer installing the 4.14-rc2 kernel, it appears this is fixed. I was able to
switch between the 3 wifi's here without issue.
Thanks!

2017-09-23 Thread Lisa Nelson

Still an issue! I REALLY hate it when I have to say WINDOWS works
perfectly fine when I dual-boot to it vs. Ubuntu 17.04.

Even when I switch to a different Wifi this issue happens. I end up
rebooting and it will work once again...

Ok, I ran 16.04 since reporting this bug, then today installed 17.04 again
(fresh install).
This is still a major issue with stability of wifi connections.

[Bug 1704171] [NEW] WiFi connections unstable

2017-07-13 Thread Lisa Nelson
Public bug reported:

I have 3 WiFi signals here, and use them all without issue most of the
time. Since upgrading to 17.04 I have issues where my wifi will not
connect to one of the other 2 signals, then also won't re-connect to the
signal that was just in use. When this happens, I can do a 'restart'
and it will connect just fine to any of the 3 signals.

While it was failing a bit ago, I captured the syslog of whats going on
and will include it below.

[Bug 1003424] [NEW] Nautilus passes file list to scripts without quotes

2012-05-23 Thread Lisa Nelson
Public bug reported:

I'm using very simple scripts, but when the file names have spaces in then,
scripts won't function on the files.
Using two files: "myfile one.txt" "myfiletwo.txt"

What gets passed to the scripts is: myfile one.txt myfile
two.txt

No way to determine what the files are, or to act on them.

Putting quotes around each file name would fix it I believe.

Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop AMD64 with all the updates installed as of today.

[Bug 974938] Re: Process "gsettings" prevents logging in

2012-05-07 Thread Lisa Nelson
OK, put the /etc/X11/Xsession.c/90qt-a11y file back to normal. Then
installed libnss-ldapd (note the d) and restarted. I can logon to the
ldap desktop, but I don't get the background image, and the dock acts
strange.

The dock will launch firefox and terminal, but not my home directory. I
can open links on the desktop to data on the ldap server, and they open
and work fine. I logged off fine and got the lightdm logon screen
again. Hope any of this helps...

[Bug 974938] Re: Process "gsettings" prevents logging in

2012-05-07 Thread Lisa Nelson
I have this same issue. Fresh install of 12.04 today. All updates.
Connecting to a working ldap server.

I found a thread on ubuntu forums, and it said to rem out all the lines
in /etc/X11/Xsession.c/90qt-a11y and install nscd.

By doing that, I can get logged into the ldap server, but don't get my
desktop background.

I've got to get this resolved by next weekend as we are scheduled to
install 18 new Ubuntu 12.04 ldap clients... I'd like to have them work!
The current 11.10 clients are working perfectly.

[Bug 973610] Re: Flickering Screen - X Display Problem Nouveau DRM [12.04 Beta2]

2012-04-23 Thread Lisa Nelson
i915 video device.

I see a flicker occasionally also. I run the game Vendetta-Online in
full screen mode, and see a flicker occasionally. This never happened
before 12.04.

[Bug 842566] Re: Libreoffice and unity integration broken.

2012-03-14 Thread Lisa Nelson
This bug is still an issue. I can get the buttons back by choosing
file/fullscreen, then leaving fullscreen mode...
It's a big irritant for our customers.

[Bug 897212] Re: lightdm ignores session selection of ldap users

2012-03-05 Thread Lisa Nelson
Still seeing this issue. Ubuntu 11.10 fully updated.
LDAP users login and it ignores desktop selection. Still doesn't work after
logging out and back in. The users always get the Unity desktop. Hope this is
fixed soon.

[Bug 663269] [NEW] evolution crashed after sending e-mail then moving mouse

2010-10-19 Thread Lisa Nelson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Several times evolution has crashed after I sent an e-mail. I'm using
pop servers at gmail.com, and had not had issues before 10.10 ubuntu.

This last time I hit send, and walked away and when I returned (next
morning), it crashed as soon as I moved the mouse. I didn't notice this
before because I continued to move the mouse while using the computer
after sending an e-mail

I also have gnupg setup and include my signature in all outgoing
e-mails.

Hope this helps.
