[Bug 235927] [NEW] [fglrx] Window borders missing when Second Monitor is enabled

2008-05-29 Thread Lukas Fittl
Public bug reported:

On up-to-date Ubuntu 8.04 (without proposed-updates).
Hardware is ATI Radeon Mobility X1400.

When using the proprietary AMD driver (flgrx), and starting with a second
monitor enabled,
GNOME does not draw any window borders.

~/.xsession-errors file contains errors about getting information about
the monitor from the Graphics Card.

Snippet from dmesg while Restarting X11:

[fglrx:firegl_cmmqs_CWDDE_32] *ERROR* CMMQS CWDDE32: pvDriver handle is not
valid.
[fglrx:firegl_cmmqs_CWDDE32] *ERROR* CMMQS CWDDE is failed: firegl_cmmqs_CWDDE32

The fglrx 8.5 release fixes this problem.
If possible, please provide an update.

[Bug 191130] Re: [needs-merge] blender_2.45-3

2008-02-14 Thread Lukas Fittl
I think thats related to debian/patches/50_debian_build_config:

-BF_PYTHON_VERSION = '2.5'
+BF_PYTHON_VERSION = '2.4'

Just remove that part of the patch, and it builds successfully.

Also it looks like some build dependencies are missing (libopenal-dev,
libalut-dev),
not sure though, as I am just building it on my workstation here (7.10 / Gutsy).

Hey Daniel,

Actually I wouldn't simply sync it.
We probably want to use blender with python 2.5, and the current Debian version
is still 2.4.

Thanks for finding that patch of mine, seems I forgot to submit that one to the
Debian guys.
It actually is quite useful, because libGL.so is only existent if you have the
-dev version of the library installed.

Also, as far as I know, dlopen should always be used with the complete SONAME.
Otherwise,
if the library changes SONAME, it just breaks silently.

Could somebody else take a look at this? (Feature Freeze is in 2 days)

As everyone involved with blender packaging might have noticed,
I haven't had any time in the last months (too much else to do).

Blender 2.43 does not support 64bit for real, I guess thats the problem.

I am working on getting blender 2.44 into feisty-backports (that version
works well on amd64), at the moment you can use the packages available

[Bug 115813] Please sync blender (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2007-05-20 Thread Lukas Fittl
Public bug reported:

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

 affects ubuntu/blender
 status confirmed
 subscribe ubuntu-archive

Please sync blender (universe) from Debian unstable (main).

Changelog since current gutsy version 2.43-0ubuntu3:

blender (2.44-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
  * Drop debian/patches/01_64bits_stupidity, not needed anymore: as of this
version blender is 64 bits safe again. Adjust README.Debian accordingly.

 -- Florian Ernst [EMAIL PROTECTED]  Thu, 17 May 2007 11:47:59 +0200

blender (2.43-1) UNRELEASED; urgency=low

  [ Cyril Brulebois ]
  * New upstream release (Closes: #414409).
  * Refreshed 10_gnukfreebsd_support.dpatch:
 - it should now support each FreeBSD kernel version, using startswith()
   instead of an hardcoded kernel version string;
 - nan_compile.mk and some other files are no longer patched, although the
   compilation is OK; adjustments might be needed.
  * Updated user-config.py:
 - fixed () vs {} for FFMPEG;
 - switched from 'bullet' to 'bullet2' and adjusted some paths.
  * Added a Build-Conflicts against nvidia-glx. When trying to build with that
package installed, a ``-lGL not found otherwise'' occurs, and without it,
everything looks fine. That should also avoid situations like in #282071
and #285946.
  * Added debian/patches/01_64bits_stupidity.dpatch to enable blender on
64-bit systems. Please read the README.Debian file for more info. A
NEWS.Debian file has been added to ensure that users don't miss this
point.
  * Adjusted README.Debian file so that it has the very same structure as a
debian changelog file.
  * Adjusted the clean target since many binary files remained after the
cleanup, reported by dpkg-buildpackage when trying to update the Debian
diff after a build (Closes: #424145).
  * Adjusted the width of the lines in the long description to get a possibly
beautiful paragraph.
  * Updated and improved desktop integration (Closes: #417901):
 - switched from a single desktop file to two versions: one for windowed
   and one for fullscreen execution, thanks to Lukas Fittl for the
   suggestion!
 - added the missing dh_desktop call;
 - added the installation of all the icons in release/freedesktop/icons;
 - adapted the icon name in the .desktop files accordingly.
  * Dropped insecure script removal introduced in 2.42a-6, since the insecure
script is no longer shipped upstream.
  * Added a TODO(.Debian) file to list items to work on for further revisions.

  [ Florian Ernst ]
  * debian/control:
+ drop g++-3.3 from B-D. Actually, we don't need it anymore.
+ bump B-D on python-central to 0.5 to make lintian happy.

[Bug 113897] Blender probably doesn't use some OpenGL extensions

[Bug 89133] Re: Problem with blktap and LVM (device numbers)

2007-03-06 Thread Lukas Fittl
Ok, seems I have been running into the wrong direction. LVM+Xen works on
x86, but fails on AMD64. I now think this has nothing to do with LVM at
all (seems logical as Xen uses 254 as character device, and LVM as block
device), but rather with blktapctl that does some weird stuff.

[Bug 89133] Re: Problem with blktap and LVM (device numbers)

2007-03-04 Thread Lukas Fittl
Still, invoke-rc.d xend start keeps creating /dev/xen/blktap0 with 254
as major device number (I re-checked by stopping xenstored and
blktapctl, deleting /dev/xen and then starting xend). Could this problem
be related to the fact that xen does not use udev for this kind of
stuff?

[Bug 89133] Problem with blktap and LVM (device numbers)

2007-03-01 Thread Lukas Fittl
Public bug reported:

If the Xen in Feisty is used together with LVM, it fails because LVM
starts before xend starts, and assigns 254 as a major device number.
Then xend comes along and has a hardcoded major device number of 254
which of course clashes with the one of LVM, which then leads to xend
not being able to start.

The problem would be fixed by the following patch which has also been
applied xen upstream: http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-
devel/2006-09/msg00867.html

Please consider integrating this patch for Feisty as Xen won't work
without it.

Reproduceable on an AMD64 machine, not tested on i386.

[Bug 89133] Re: Problem with blktap and LVM (device numbers)

2007-03-01 Thread Lukas Fittl
Ok, I now tried patching the source myself, and failed, because the
structure of the code seems different in our Xen, as well as the code
already seems to do dynamic device number selection.

Do you have any idea why that could happen?

[Bug 84731] Re: Syncing and merging X.org 7.2

2007-02-12 Thread Lukas Fittl
I requested the sync for libpthread-stubs, and I also wanted to request
libxcb, but I realized later that would take more work, and
unfortunately I don't know X well enough. I will try to help with
testing, and thanks for the important work.

[Bug 83989] Re: conflicts against older library packages

2007-02-08 Thread Lukas Fittl
This is due to the way how libOgrePlatform.so is currently handled, as
it does not have a proper SONAME at the moment.

Solutions to this problem are either concerning upstream to properly
manage an SONAME for this library as well, or to manually patch an
SONAME into it. The first one seems more appropriate to me, but requires
further investigations from my side if this is really the correct way to
do it, and after that there is the work of convincing upstream that it
is important. So I guess this will be solved for the 1.4 release of
Ogre.

[Bug 31776] Re: nautilus-script-* scripts not enabled upon installation

2007-01-29 Thread Lukas Fittl
The solution I would prefer is patching nautilus to have a configuration
area for scripts as mentioned above, your solution can't be integrated
into a package unfortunately, because packages can't contain data for
user home directories.
