I can push both both keys in when using gedit to go up one line and right/left. It appears that the UP and LEFT buttons cannot be held down at the same time... On a 4 workspace (default) setup... 1. Press CTRL+ALT+DOWN+RIGHT. (Pressing DOWN+RIGHT at the same time). 2. Press CTRL+ALT+UP (and hold down on all three buttons) then try to add the LEFT button. It should take you to the top left workspace, but it won't until you remove your finger from the UP button. The same occurs if you move LEFT first then try to add UP. Assuming I have exactly the same problem (I have a Lenovo 3000 N200), upgrading to Maverick has improved things for me. When I plug my headset in now, the front speakers are silenced. Ok, so I then ran the commands, the first ran fine - the second complained the file didn't exist, so I installed the netbeans package again via synaptic. Now it starts :) Only minor thing is in the Programming menu in Applications, it's still listed as NetBeans IDE 6.7.1, with no logo! I can live with that though! @Yulia - I've just done an upgrade from Karmic to Lucid. The icon in the Applications menu for Netbeans didn't update - still says 6.7.1. And after trying to start it, I get an error about modules being loaded. I say ok, don't load them. Added hundred paper cuts as I feel this is a major issue with new users. I have read many articles written by journalists who are discovering Linux for the first time via Ubuntu, and they have all commented that playing a DVD film just doesn't work, and the OS doesn't offer any help to allow this. I feel like this is something that could be solved fairly easily and would make new users have to do a lot less work to get a DVD going. Whilst I find 'Home' the cleanest way to say it (in English anyway), it's not entirely accurate. I think this is a good decision. There should be somewhere in home where all previous wallpapers are stored, so that you can revert to previously used (now deleted) images. There should be, however a limit on this. Maybe there should be a size limit on what can be stored (which can be set by the user on the Background tab from the desktop menu). If this limit is reached, the oldest/least used wallpapers are deleted? Guys, this doesn't affect just Ubuntu, it happens on Windows machines also. As annoying as this bug is, it is just that... annoying. It is not damaging to the system, and the workaround of holing the mouse button down until the menu appears instead of pressing it quickly is hardly a show-stopper. I have iwl3945 with all updates too. Same problem. If the switch is done quickly, it works. If not, it won't come back on. Also, if it is off during boot, it can't be enabled.
