I'm not sure ... [Bug 1312966] Re: ssvnc creates a 1x1 window with -scale auto
I did some debugging and found that firstly, XtVaGetValues(toplevel, XtNwidth, , XtNheight, , NULL) in check_things() didn't get the size of the window, but the size of the remote desktop, and secondly, the mask that XQueryPointer() fetched wouldn't be zero because it includes not only mouse buttons as intended, but keyboard modifiers such as Caps Lock (typically the lock modifier) and Num Lock (mod2 in my case). The problem with the 1×1 window, I found, was more in get_scale_values(). In the end I wound up adding a new, more proper event handler to detect window size changes. As to why nothing has happened to this bug for this long, well, I do this on a voluntary basis, it didn't seem that critical, and haven't gotten around to taking a closer look until now, also hoping that Karl (upstream) might do something. When you're saying that the unpatched version is completely unusable, do you mean that you always connect to desktops that are larger than your screen and therefore have to enable autoscaling right away? ** Patch added: "My solution" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ssvnc/+bug/1312966/+attachment/4710533/+files/auto-scale.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1312966 Title: ssvnc creates a 1x1 window with -scale auto To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ssvnc/+bug/1312966/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1312966] Re: ssvnc creates a 1x1 window with -scale auto
This patch, while it does mean that you don't get a 1×1 window, doesn't enable automatic rescaling to the current window size; it just checks if the remote desktop is larger than 90% of the width and/or height of the local screen, and multiples the scale factor by 0.9 until it's not. [Bug 41804] Re: Major memory leak
I believe that technically, the public API hasn't been changed. The API doesn't specify whether the returned pointer should be free()d, and is broken by sometimes returning a pointer that needs to be free()d and sometimes one that mustn't, so one must never free() the pointer. Some distributions decided to fix that by making th_get_pathname() always return a free()able pointer, but portable programs can't rely on until _all_ distributions do the same. Using a static buffer of course makes the function non reentrant, but I figured that's not typically a problem, and that therefore it would be better if other distros chose the same solution, but if that won't happen (I haven't even got around to bringing it up on the libtar mailing list yet), I'll reconsider. It's really unfortunate that there's no active upstream to set this straight as well as fix the other API misdesigns and bugs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41804 Title: Major memory leak -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 41804] Re: Major memory leak
No, it's not resolved. I was applying this patch to the package in Debian, but after looking a bit closer I'm not so sure anymore. The problem that the patch attempts to solve is that th_get_pathname() in some cases (namely, if gnu_longname is not set) strdup()s a local buffer. But th_get_pathname() is a part of the public API, so all applications that use libtar might get *more* memory leaks until they are updated. And they can't free the memory unless they know that it's malloc()ed, so it's an incompatible change. Then there's the similar function th_get_pathname(), which never returns a strdup()ed string. Another suggestion is to make the buffer static: http://downloads.diy-linux.org/patches/OLD/PM/libtar-1.2.11.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41804 Title: Major memory leak -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 496417] Re: package lsh-server 2.0.4-dfsg-6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Once again, I would like to know the following to be able to troubleshoot the issue: At the moment when lsh-server was installed or upgraded, was openssh-server (still) installed and running, and if so, did you configure lsh-server to use a different port from openssh-server? If the port that lshd tries to use is taken, it will of course fail to start, which will cause package configuration to fail. That is not a bug per se, because multiple packages providing the same network service may be installed in parallel, and each generally can't be required to know about the configurations of the others. There IS a mechanism for disabling openssh-server, which admittedly has a bug, but the whole idea is actually flawed. Unfortunately there is at least one package that depends on ssh-server instead of openssh-server | ssh-server, which causes lsh-server to be installed. That should still not cause lsh- server to be installed if another ssh-server package is already, so I'm interested to know exactly what the situation looked like with respect to relevant packages. Please check /var/log/daemon.log for any lines mentioning lshd. If it says lshd: Could not bind any address. and you are sure that no other daemon uses the same port as lsh-server, then that is interesting. To help investigate in that case, I need you to edit /etc/init.d/lsh-server and add --debug to both start command lines, e.g. before --daemonic, then try to install lsh-server again or run sudo dpkg --configure --pending. Yes. Thank you. Judging from discussions about /var/run on the debian- devel mailing list, mounting a tmpfs on /var/run has been the default for a long time, so I wonder why nobody reported this bug sooner... As a workaround, you can put install -d -o prayer -m 0750 /var/run/prayer on the first line in the start() subroutine in /etc/init.d/prayer. I'm considering whether prayer should be (carefully) patched to create certain directories before dropping root privileges. ** Changed in: prayer (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Magnus Holmgren (holmgren) Status: New = Confirmed -- prayer doesn't start due to missing directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/304071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 304071] Re: prayer doesn't start due to missing directory
Do you have a tmpfs filesystem mounted as /var/run? I should of course have covered that situation... -- prayer doesn't start due to missing directory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/304071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
