2018-06-22 Thread Manuel Muradás
In https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-
openvpn/+bug/1322728/comments/12, I meant I have set my user, but not my
password. Sorry for the noise.

[Bug 1322728] Re: VPN Connection Failed With 2 Factor Authentication

2018-06-22 Thread Manuel Muradás
Uhm, I'm using 18.04 and it's kind of working for me.
I have set my password in the VPN configuration, and set not to remember my
password.
I first get prompted for my password and a few seconds later I get a second
prompt for my Google Authenticator code.

The problem I'm facing is that if I set to remember my password, the
last input I entered (2FA code) overwrites the saved password, and next
time the old 2FA code is used instead of the password. I will report
this to a new ticket, I just wanted to let you know my experience in
case it helps you with yours.

[Bug 1662042] [NEW] Black screen after resuming from sleep with nvidia drivers on 16.04

2017-02-05 Thread Manuel Muradás
Public bug reported:

This happens on an ASUS ZenBook UX303UB, with nvidia-375 installed.
I'm able to connect to the host through SSH. I have run the apport-bug tool
when the display was black.

The problem is not present when I switch back to using the Intel GPU
using Nvidia's tool (through nvidia-prime).

So far, I have done the following tests, following reports from other users:
- Switched to kernel 4.8
- Tried with both nvidia-370 and nvidia-375
- Tried with fix to backlight
(http://askubuntu.com/questions/820955/blank-screen-after-resume-dell-m5510-ubuntu-16-04/823523)
- Configured ligthdm idle-timeout to 3 seconds and see if the display came back
(due to an old bug affecting older versions)

Bumblebee is not installed.

I have seen several issues / questions that seems similar to this one,
but I couldn't find a solution / workaround, other than disabling
Nvidia's GPU.

I appreciate any help to debug this.

[Bug 846719] Re: Conflict between acer-wmi and wl kernel modules

2011-09-25 Thread Manuel Muradás
I've reinstalled Oneiric and now the driver used to manage the device is
'brcmsmac'.
I'm not sure if this is caused by a change in the latest kernel or if my
original Oneiric installation (pre-beta) has a different setup.

However the problem is still the same:
- No wifi connection by default
- An 'acer-wireless' device is listed by 'rfkill -list'
- Blacklisting 'acer-wmi' module works around the problem

I'm changing the title to reflect this update.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

** Summary changed:

- Conflict between acer-wmi and wl kernel modules
+ Conflict between acer-wmi and brcmsmac kernel modules

** Description changed:

  I own a Lenovo Ideapad v360 laptop with a Broadcom BCM4313 wireless
network adapter. Jockey has installed "bcmwl-kernel-source" package in
order to be able to use the wireless adapter, but it doesn't work
  anyway.
+
+ Note: the original problem was reported against module 'wl'. Now the problem
occurs with module 'brcmsmac'. See comment #5.
+ (Maybe the problem is not related with the module used by the device, but
with the device itself?).

What caught my attention in that last command is the ''acer-wireless'' entry.
Searching on Google I found that blacklisting the ''acer-wmi'' module works
around the issue, and the wireless adapter started working. Another workaround
is to add a parameter to the ''acer-wmi'' module:

[Bug 570033] Re: Session indicator should go red to indicate restart required at end of driver installation

2010-05-14 Thread Manuel Muradás
Is it possible to add a post-install script in every driver package
having a jockey handler (e.g. fglrx, madwifi, nvidia) for creating the
"/var/run/reboot-required" file? Or jockey should handle the file
creation?

2010-05-04 Thread Manuel Muradás
Ups, I didn't notice it was supposed to hold red for 3-5, my bad.
It seems like, as you said, SMPlayer triggers a new sink input connection when
you skip forward the movie. I'm closing this as Invalid.
I'm closing this as invalid. Thanks for the explanation =)

2010-05-03 Thread Manuel Muradás
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: indicator-sound

Under a certain circumstance (explained later) the sound applet losses
its red color when playing a movie in a gstreamer player with the sound
  muted.

  Steps to reproduce:
  ‣ click over sound applet, then click on "Mute All"
  ‣ open a movie with a gstreamer player (like Totem)
-‣ the applet turns red
+    ‣ the applet turns red
  ‣ go Full Screen (Totem: press F11)
  ‣ skip forward the movie (Totem: hold right arrow a couple of seconds)
  ‣ leave full screen (Totem: press F11)

  Expected behavior:
- The applet keeps red
+ The applet is still red

  Observed behavior:
  The applet isn't red anymore

  Additional Information:
I have tested this with Totem, Miro and Banshee with the same results.
However playing the movie with SMPlayer works as expected. Thats why I was
initially going to open this bug to some gstreamer package (like
gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio). Sorry if this doesn't belong to indicator-sound.

[Bug 574919] [NEW] "Nautilus restart required" notification doesn't disappear

2010-05-03 Thread Manuel Muradás
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: groundcontrol

"Nautilus restart required" notification doesn't disappear after
clicking "Run this action now", you have to click "Close" button.

Steps to reproduce:

Expected behavior:
‣ Nautilus is restarted
‣ The notification closes
‣ Installation ends

Observed behavior:
‣ Nautilus is restarted
‣ The notification is still there. You have to click the "Close" button.

[Bug 549932] [NEW] Main Menu applet scrolling broken

2010-03-27 Thread Manuel Muradás
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

(I'm not sure if this bug belongs to gnome-applets, sorry if it doesn't)

"Main Menu" applet doesn't scroll well. I have a netbook with only 480px
of height.

Steps to reproduce:
- Add Main Menu applet to Gnome panel
- Click over the menu
- Go to System/Preferences and click on the arrow at the bottom to see more
entries
- Try to select one of the entries at the bottom of the menu (ie: Ubuntu One)

Expected behavior:
- I can click the entry

Observed behavior:
- The menu "goes up" again (showing only the entries that feet on the list)

Additional comments:
- The applet used to work in Ubuntu 9.10

[Bug 398303] Re: GNOME Do is starting at login, but "Start GNOME Do at login" checkbox is unmarked

2009-10-14 Thread Manuel Muradás
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gnome-do

- After installing GNOME Do in Ubuntu 9.10, the "Start GNOME do at login"
- preference is unchecked but Gnome Do starts at login anyway.
+ Description:
+ After installing GNOME Do in Ubuntu 9.10, the "Start GNOME do at login"
preference is unchecked but Gnome Do starts at login anyway.

- I believe this is caused because Gnome DO checks for an
- "~/.config/autostart/" entry for setting the checkbox, and Ubuntu's
- Package is adding an entry in "/etc/xdg/autostart/".
+ This is caused because when you run Gnome Do after the installation,
+ there is no "gnome-do.desktop" file at "~/.config/autostart/". Gnome Do
+ will check for that file to set the "Start GNOME do at login"
+ preference. Given that there is no file, the check box will remain
+ unchecked, but Gnome Do will start at login anyway because of the
+ desktop file in "/etc/xdg/autostart" deployed during the installation by
+ our package.
+
+ Steps to reproduce:
+ * Close gnome-do
+* ~$ killall gnome-do
+ * Remove the autostart file (if any)
+* ~$ rm ~/.config/autostart/gnome-do.desktop
+ * Open "Startup Applications" utility
+* ~$ gnome-session-properties &
+ * Open "GNOME Do"
+* ~$ gnome-do &
+ * Open "GNOME Do Preferences" window
+
+ Expected Behavior:
+ * In "Startup Applications" window, "GNOME Do" is listed as an additional
startup program. This is caused because "GNOME Do" package creates an startup
file in the system-wide autostart in "/etc/xdg/autostart".
+ * "Start GNOME DO at login" check is checked, because "GNOME Do" will start
at login as described above.
+
+ Observed Behavior:
+ * In "Startup Applications" window, "GNOME Do" is listed as an additional
startup program.
+ * "Start GNOME DO at login" check is UNCHECKED, even if "GNOME Do" is
started at login as described above.

[Bug 398303] Re: GNOME Do is starting at login, but "Start GNOME Do at login" checkbox is unmarked

2009-10-14 Thread Manuel Muradás
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 288172 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288172

I don't think this is a duplicate of #288172. In #288172 the problem was
that if you uncheck the "Start GNOME Do at login" option, gnome-do was
starting anyway. In this bug, checking and then unchecking "Start GNOME
Do at login" is the only way to avoid starting GNOME Do when the user
logs in.

I will try to clarify the problem by modifying the bug description.

[Bug 447805] [NEW] Misaligned applets in GDM

2009-10-09 Thread Manuel Muradás
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

(I don't thinks this is a bug, but I don't know how to fill an
Enhancement Request with "ubuntu-bug" command, sorry.)

Language, Keyboard and Session applets are misaligned with the user selection
box in GDM login screen.
This seems more noticeable in very large screens.
They look centered in relation with the space between the left edge of the
screen and the accessibility/clock/exit applets.

Maybe a picture helps me to explain this better (I have attached
"GDM.jpg").

[Bug 447790] [NEW] Previous Conversations window is not showing any conversation when loads

2009-10-09 Thread Manuel Muradás
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When you view the previous conversations you have had with a contact
the "Previous Conversations" windows displays a calendar with the day of
the last conversation selected; however no conversation is displayed.

If you click over the already selected day, the last conversation shows
up.

Steps to reproduce:
 * Right-click over a contact you have already talked with
 * Click over "View Previous Conversations"
 * Click over the selected day in the calendar

Expected behavior:
 * "Previous Conversations" windows shows up displaying the last conversation,
with the day of that conversation selected in the calendar.

Alternative:
 * "Previous Conversations" windows shows up with no date selected, and without
displaying any conversation.

Observed behavior:
 * "Previous Conversations" windows shows up without displaying any
conversation, but with the day of the last conversation selected in the

[Bug 379839] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 - Tomboy - boot - OAFIID:error

2009-08-24 Thread Manuel Muradás
I was just about to open a bug for this problem when I bump into this
report. As said by @EmmaJane, this happens when gnome-sessions is set to
restore the previously running applications.

This is still happening in 15.5 (karmic version, I hope apport-collect has
attached all the necessary info).
I have attached the file generated by gnome-session (located in
"~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session/").

There is no way to enable the Computer's Mic Front Input in the new

Choosing between the last two options doesn't make any difference.

[Bug 414355] [NEW] Empathy exits sending empty /me message

2009-08-16 Thread Manuel Muradás
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When I send an empty "/me" message, Empathy just closes. All Telepathy
related processes remain running.

It looks like a clean exit, because Apport is not showing. I've attached
GDB and after reproducing it I got an "Program exited with code 01"
message. Since there is no debugging symbols available to download, I
don't know if this is useful or not.

Am I the only one with this problem? Just copy "/me" and send it to
someone (tested with XMPP and MSN).

[Bug 414344] [NEW] Error parsing log file

2009-08-16 Thread Manuel Muradás
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I don't know how but I have managed to send the following characters in
a "/me" message (I think I've copy/pasted them):

`ǿ

Empathy fails parsing those characters, so any message included in the
same log file is not shown anymore.

Warning message:
Failed to parse
file:'/home/test/.gnome2/Empathy/logs/gtalk0/t...@test.com/20090816.log'

I'm attaching the problematic log file. Just drop it in a contact's log
folder and go to "See previous conversations" to reproduce the error.

[Bug 399482] Re: bluez: upgrade from 4.45-0ubuntu1 to 4.45-0ubuntu2 fails

2009-07-14 Thread Manuel Muradás
You can 'manually' apply the patch by editing '/etc/init.d/bluetooth':
- Find the 'pkill -TERM bluetoothd' line
- Replace it with 'pkill -TERM bluetoothd || true'

I don't know if there is a better way to solve this problem.

[Bug 398685] [NEW] Authentication is required to mount a device

2009-07-13 Thread Manuel Muradás
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

(I'm not sure if this bug belongs to gvfs, DeviceKit or PolicyKit, I'm
sorry.)

Every time I plug an external device, a prompt pops up asking for a
password in order to mount the plugged device. If I cancel the prompt
and then try to mount the device using Nautilus, the device is
successfully mounted without asking for any password. I can also mount
the device using "gvfs-mount -d /dev/sd?#".

If the device can be mounted without typing a password, I think the
auto-mount functionality should work the same way.

[Bug 398303] Re: GNOME Do is starting at login, but "Start GNOME Do at login" checkbox is unmarked

2009-07-11 Thread Manuel Muradás
Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

The first time you run Gnome Do, there is no "gnome-do.desktop" file at
"~/.config/autostart/". Gnome Do will check for that file to set the
"Start GNOME do at login" preference. Given that there is no file, the
check box will remain unchecked, but Gnome Do will start at login anyway
because of the desktop file in "/etc/xdg/autostart".

It you want to disable the execution of Gnome Do at login, first you
have to check "Start GNOME do at login" preference (a desktop file will
be added in "~/.config/autostart/" with a "Hidden=false" field) and then
you have to uncheck it (the "Hidden" field in "gnome-do.desktop" will be
set to true).

I think Gnome Do should also check for a desktop file in
"/etc/xdg/autostart" (or whatever is set in $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS) to set the
"Start GNOME do at login" preference.

[Bug 398303] [NEW] GNOME Do is starting at login, but "Start GNOME Do at login" checkbox is unmarked

2009-07-11 Thread Manuel Muradás
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-do

After installing GNOME Do in Ubuntu 9.10, the "Start GNOME do at login"
preference is unchecked but Gnome Do starts at login anyway.

I believe this is caused because Gnome DO checks for an
"~/.config/autostart/" entry for setting the checkbox, and Ubuntu's
Package is adding an entry in "/etc/xdg/autostart/".
