[Bug 1954565] [NEW] rtw88_pci causes system to freeze with rtl8821ce wireless card
Public bug reported: I have an HP dw-1015nv laptop, with a realtek rtl8821ce wireless/bluetooth card. After installing ubuntu, the system would randomly freeze. The fan spun up to max and there was no response from the keyboard or on the screen. I noticed that this issue stopped after disabling WiFi. After doing some research i found out that creating a file in /etc/modprobe.d/ called rtw88_pci.conf with the contents: options rtw88_pci disable_aspm=1 , the problem stopped. Is there any way to implement this by default? It might take new users a long time to understand what is happening and they may be discouraged from using ubuntu in the future. uname -a Linux HP-Laptop-15-dw1xxx 5.13.0-23-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP Fri Nov 26 11:41:15 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu 21.10 Release:21.10 Codename: impish ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 21.10 Package: linux-image-5.13.0-23-generic 5.13.0-23.23 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.13.0-23.23-generic 5.13.19 Uname: Linux 5.13.0-23-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu71 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: mariosk1457 F pulseaudio CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat Dec 11 13:12:27 2021 InstallationDate: Installed on 2021-12-10 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 21.10 "Impish Indri" - Release amd64 (20211012) MachineType: HP HP Laptop 15-dw1xxx ProcFB: 0 i915drmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5.13.0-23-generic root=UUID=42675131-6ed1-45be-b3aa-736d2fe0d3be ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-5.13.0-23-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-5.13.0-23-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.201.3 SourcePackage: linux UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 10/15/2021 dmi.bios.release: 15.53 dmi.bios.vendor: Insyde dmi.bios.version: F.53 dmi.board.asset.tag: Type2 - Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: 85F2 dmi.board.vendor: HP dmi.board.version: 37.29 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Chassis Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: HP dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.ec.firmware.release: 37.29 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnInsyde:bvrF.53:bd10/15/2021:br15.53:efr37.29:svnHP:pnHPLaptop15-dw1xxx:pvrType1ProductConfigId:rvnHP:rn85F2:rvr37.29:cvnHP:ct10:cvrChassisVersion:sku2E7F7EA#AB7: dmi.product.family: 103C_5335KV HP Notebook dmi.product.name: HP Laptop 15-dw1xxx dmi.product.sku: 2E7F7EA#AB7 dmi.product.version: Type1ProductConfigId dmi.sys.vendor: HP ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug impish package-from-proposed realtek rtw88 rtw88-8821ce rtw88-pci wifi -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954565 Title: rtw88_pci causes system to freeze with rtl8821ce wireless card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1954565/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 968211] [NEW] NFS kernel server initscript contains errors
Public bug reported: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using I checked on the ubuntu install I have here - 12.04 precise pangolin beta - but it's likely the bug is present in older versions too. 2) The version of the package you are using nfs-kernel-server: Installed: 1:1.2.5-3ubuntu1 3) What you expected to happen I expected mountd to be started for NFSv3 4) What happened instead mountd was started, but version 1 and 2 only -- according to rpcinfo -p 5) The fix The rpcinfo binary is located in /usr/sbin rather than /usr/bin $PREFIX/bin/rpcinfo -u localhost nfs 3 /dev/null 21 || RPCMOUNTDOPTS=$RPCMOUNTDOPTS --no-nfs-version 3 Whereas it should be: $PREFIX/sbin/rpcinfo -u localhost nfs 3 /dev/null 21 || RPCMOUNTDOPTS=$RPCMOUNTDOPTS --no-nfs-version 3 6) Possible improvement Perhaps it can be further improved to check if the nfs process listens on TCP rather than UDP. [Bug 151341] probems with dual wide screen - goes to failsafe mode
Public bug reported: I am using two Dell 2005fpw wide screen monitors and an nvidia quatro nv280. I can enable the restricted modules and get the resolution to 1680x1050 one the default screen. the problems comes when i try to enable the second screen. when i do that using the Screen and Graphics Preferences different things happen. 1. I restart and the resolution on the default screen becomes 1900x1200 ( even thought i had 1680x1050 selected ) 2. i try to set it back and restart and i get the fail safe message that there was a problem with the screen settings. 3. I use dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and fix the problem but it only sets one screen. 4. If i use the nvidia-xconfig it seems to work but i cant open a terminal neither i can enable the desktop effects ( which the work fine with one screen ) 5. I try different combinations of the above in different orders and wither i get a screen that is wide and the terminal doesn't work or I get a secondary screen that displays nonsense colors and blings. 6. I try removing the restricted nvidia-glx and reinstalling them but it doesn't help. 7. Important note. when i get the failsafe screen ( if i click continue it doesnt continue ) if i try to setup two screen it goes back to failsafe. my system is a sun workstation with dual amd processors. I installed the Gutsy 7.10 beta and have all the updates ( universe, multiverse, backports everything that is available) I know it can be fixed by manually editing the xorg.conf file but this seems to be a bug of the new screen and graphics preference. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- probems with dual wide screen - goes to failsafe mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151341 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
