[Bug 1253997] Re: WiFi randomly disconnects
Update. I had to remove v3.12 trusty kernel. The system becomes quite unusable. So far, only v3.11.0-12 is usable for more than 1 hour. There is something definitely wrong in the rt3290 support. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1253997 Title: WiFi randomly disconnects To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1253997/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1253997] [NEW] WiFi randomly disconnects
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to 13.10 the WiFi support has been shaky. Frequent connection drops and unstable network-manager. Only solution is a reboot, often more than one. I cannot connect to a WiFi network using authentication but WEP (any other authentication method gives instantaneous loss of connectivity). [Bug 1253997] Re: WiFi randomly disconnects
Hi, the problem happens either when running on battery or with the power supply. I tested with 3 different kernels: 3.11.0-12-generic 3.11.0-13-generic 3.11.0-14-generic The last one seems the more stable though the disconnect are frequent. I tested also the latest v3.12 kernel (from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.12-saucy/ *not* trusty), to no avail. Actually, with the 3.12 saucy the system became extremely unstable, with crashing of network-manager at boot time and preventing also running the X server. As a stopgap measure, I'm using a small script: service network-manager stop rmmod rt2800pci modprobe rt2800pci service network-manager start that somewhat is useful to recover the WiFi support. Sometimes, when the connection drops and after a variable period of time 2 - 10 minutes, the wifi support seems to auto-recover, but in that case I'm never able to see my access points (they aren't listed in the Unity menu), but I can see foreign APs from neighboring offices. I still cannot connect to those APs (either because I have no credentials or because the authentication method is not WEP). I will test the 3.12 trusty kernel and report the outcome. Than you for the support.
[Bug 1253997] Re: WiFi randomly disconnects
Update: the v3.12 trusty kernel is more stable than the others I tested. WPA authentication still not working; WEP only.
[Bug 1049466] Re: Need support of Ralink RT3290 wifi support
My laptop is HP ENVY dv6. Since the upgrade to 13.10 WiFi isn't working reliably anymore; today I'm using 3.11.0-14-generic kernel . The only way I can manage to work around the WiFi los is by changing the authentication method on our AP to WEP(!). Any other authentication is broken. WiFi signal is weak even at a close range. I tried also #125 and upgrading the kernel to 3.12 to no avail. On 13.04 WiFi was working quite well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1049466 Title: Need support of Ralink RT3290 wifi support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1049466/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
