[Bug 202959] Re: [hardy] generating locales stalls on 64mb ram
Another "me too" for this bug - I have 512Mb RAM and an English GB locale being created... localedef --no-archive --magic=20051014 -i en_GB -c -f ISO-8859-1 en_GB ...this has been running overnight on a machine to which I don't currently have ready access! [Bug 115616] Re: Device-mapper errors: dm-linear, lookup failed
I don't usually like to add a "me too" comment to bugs but I think this one is rather important and I want to add my almost insignificant voice -- happened on one of my production servers yesterday during a dist_upgrade to Gutsy. The purge of evms worked fine and the killall udevd made the machine usable 'til reboot -- I didn't even know I was using evms! -- I also had to remove lvm which caused conflicts and thought I'd wrecked the install by removing something I shouldn't: I used to know what almost everything did on Debian-based distros - sigh! those were the days :) -- Device-mapper errors: dm-linear, lookup failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115616 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 54264] Re: k3bsetup fails to change permissions of programs
I don't understand why this is listed with importance of "Wishlist". Can someone explain? I have the problem here too and I don't know of any workarounds. Is it that k3b in Ubuntu does not come with the required 'k3bsetup2' module? Where can I obtain this module? -- k3bsetup fails to change permissions of programs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/54264 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for k3b in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 65907] Re: CD-copying with K3b, cannot eject cd, failed copy
Problem still occurs with an entry in fstab. CD and DVD copy fails every time - very, very annoying. [Bug 52937] Re: "Waiting for root file system..." ...not found after kernel upgrade
If only I had known that there was a simple fix! Over the five days and nights that the machine was down, I followed a lot of advice from a lot of people offering their well-intended and, of course, completely free support. Many thanks to all who helped or left hints in blogs, forums, newsgroups, etc. -- "Waiting for root file system..." ...not found after kernel upgrade https://launchpad.net/bugs/52937 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 52937] Re: "Waiting for root file system..." ...not found after kernel upgrade
OK, I have it working again after a few days of teeth-gnashing. I followed a combination of hints from http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=7295, Bug #32446, Bug #32123, and some others I've forgot. I removed all kernels, udev, initramfs- tools, then reinstalled udev, initramfs-tools by installing ubuntu- minimal, then installed linux-image-686 and it rebuilt the initrd which finally worked. I'm really pleased that it's usable again - and LugRadio Live 2006 has its MAME machine back! -- "Waiting for root file system..." ...not found after kernel upgrade https://launchpad.net/bugs/52937 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 32446] Re: Dapper does not boot after last update
I have a similar problem following a routine kernel upgrade - older kernels will not boot either - reported Bug #52937 and am currently trying suggestions from http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=7295 BTW: Bug #32123 looks simillar -- Dapper does not boot after last update https://launchpad.net/bugs/32446 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 52937] "Waiting for root file system..." ...not found after kernel upgrade
Public bug reported: I was running dapper on generic Clevo 2200 1GHz laptop and following a kernel upgrade to linux-image-2.6.15-25-686 the machine would do the oft-reported hang at "Waiting for root file system..." followed by dropping to BusyBox shell after a few minutes having not found it. At this stage, all the modules for my IDE (sis5513) seem to be there and /dev/hda1 had appeared. I was able to mount /dev/hda1 (ext3) and chroot to it -- the file system looked fine. Having foolishly removed my older kernels I managed to reinstall a few older versions of 2.6.15 by booting to knoppix chrooting to /dev/hda1 and using aptitude. None of the older kernels would find the root file system either. I got a lot of help on IRC (thanks Matthew G!) but I'm giving up on it - I've got to get a replacement machine set up in time for LRL'06. I still have the machine in this state if any more information is needed, however it isn't very accessible as it's built into an arcade machine! ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- "Waiting for root file system..." ...not found after kernel upgrade https://launchpad.net/bugs/52937 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
