I am also seing this, even though I am able to switch to other console and log in text mode. - I could create a launcher and start 'unity'. - I could log in using gdm, but then unity launcher does not come up - from a different console: service gdm status returns 'started/running'. restarting gdm does not fix the problem. @sebastien: - I am not using autologin. - the session is Ubuntu Desktop after reboot, it's working fine, and the launcher comes when I log in again. In fact it's the 2nd time it's doing this to me: I upgrade to a bunch of packages (I usually do this once a day). at the next reboot after the upgrade the unity launcher does not come, and I need to start it manually. In its initial implementation, there is only 1 configuration file (default.pa) which is 'owned' by the pulseaudio package, as such it is difficult to customize this file. This new feature has been committed in upstream pulse this weekend, and has been pulled in the pulseaudio trunk on launchpad, see http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~crimsun/pulseaudio/trunk/revision/3523. With this new commit, if we just put a .include /etc/pulse/default.d in the default.pa then all the *.pa files therein will be parsed. Is there any chance this commit can be pulled in for 10.10?
