I am taking a look at translated UI of Wesnoth and also trying to do
some of my own translations. The language of translations is Marathi
(mr_IN.UTF-8). The problem is that I see square blocks in some areas of
game instead of translated string
ant-optional does not contain ant-trax.jar anymore (since 1.8.1) [1].
That is the reason why the package FTBFS. Changing the build-deps to
ant1.7/ant1.7-optional should help.

I see the performance problem in normal GUI as well as video playback on a

Unfortunately I see this problem on a fresh install of Lucid with card
Radeon 7000. The video playback using totem is very slow (irrespective
of codec). Also UI is very slow. The problem is fixed by disabling kms
using radeon.modeset=0 while booting.

I don't know how much difference will it make if we take new version. Also it
is just two days old in unstable so we don't know if it has any major problems.
As of now my main concern is fixing FTBFS for velocity for which this merge
with version from Debian testing is sufficient.

libmbca is not present in Lucid. So I think it is safe to drop this
change. Also since this library is neither present in Karmic (current
stable) nor Hardy (current LTS) there aren't any problems with upgrades
for officially supported upgrade paths.

The ideal way to fix this is to not use versioned binary at all i.e. instead of
doing xulrunner-1.9.2 --gre-version simply use xulrunner --gre-version. In
Ubuntu xulrunner always links to latest version in main through the
alternatives system.
