[Bug 1056978] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult

2018-09-21 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
The Greybird-accessibility theme is indeed the recommended way if you
wish to use Greybird with thicker borders.

The accessibility theme is not 100% complete and might be slightly
outdated but should provide what is needed to workaround this bug. (If
you wish to help with the accessibility theme, feel free to be in touch
with the Xubuntu team.)

[Bug 1761623] [NEW] [UIFe] Fix inconsistencies in the elementary-xfce icon theme

2018-04-05 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
Public bug reported:

To make the Xubuntu UI as consistent as possible for the LTS, we are
requesting an UI freeze exception for the xubuntu-artwork package.

The upstream elementary icon theme has moved onto a new shade of green.
The elementary-xfce theme has been updated to reflect this during the
cycle but not all of the icons are updated yet. The new version brings
the rest of the icons to the new green shade.

New (left) and old (right): http://i.imgur.com/ppHvVhK.png

The new version also fixes some inconsistencies with different sizes of
the same icon; for example, some office filetype icons are misleadingly
different in different sizes.

128px: http://i.imgur.com/a01oBEf.png
64px and smaller: http://i.imgur.com/gPuWqVn.png

[Bug 1681940] [NEW] [Final Freeze Exception] Update Xubuntu thank you slide animal

2017-04-11 Thread Pasi Lallinaho

The revision 778 [1] in the main branch introduces new artwork to
replace the "release animal" on the Xubuntu thank you slide. We'd like

team and Ubuntu documentation team member. This change does not affect

[Bug 1614474] [NEW] After showing the user wallpaper, greeter blinks and reverts to default wallpaper

2016-08-18 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
Public bug reported:

When booting the system up, the greeter loads and shows the user
wallpaper (as expected), but after a short moment, blinks black and
loads the default configured wallpaper.

During the blink the greeter is not responsive, eg. no input is taken on
to the password field. (The input works during the short time period
before the blink, so the greeter has clearly been correctly loaded at
that point.)

[Bug 1508192] Re: Mousepad search highlights hard to see

2016-02-25 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
The bug is a combination of two issues:
1) A bug in Mousepad, which makes Mousepad not respect the set "search-match"
style; when you highlight all search matches, the background for the highlights
is always light yellow
2) An accessibility issue in the color scheme (shipped in xubuntu-artwork)
which makes the current search match not distinguishable enough. This can be
fixed by changing the generic selection color.

Thus, targetting xubuntu-artwork too (and assigning myself to that one).

[Bug 1438679] [NEW] After unplugging external display, the Xfce session isn't resumed correctly

2015-03-31 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1379702 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1379702

Public bug reported:

After turning the HDMI display off with xrandr and unplugging the HDMI cable,
the Xfce session isn't resumed correctly. Some of the symptoms include:
  1) Lost theming; GTK and icon themes change
  2) Keyboard shortcuts do not work
  3) User configuration not used; eg. xfce4-terminal uses the default font
  4) When opening Thunar or the terminal, the default location is /, not
/home/username as usually

Running xfsettingsd fixes symptoms 1 and 2, but symptoms 3 and 4 stick
until reboot; can't check whether a logout would work, since there
doesn't seem to be a session to log out from.

Public bug reported:

Add a visible GUI option to stick (not hide) the controls on Parole. Either:
1) Add a sticky button to the control bar
2) Add it as a configuration option in the Preferences dialog

Currently, if you want to switch between a hiding and a non-hiding
control bar, you will have to edit the parole/hide-controls-timeout

[Bug 1426770] Re: Run In Terminal from whiskermenu fails

2015-02-28 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
For completeness, the change to the default file is the -H parameter
which holds the window. Furthermore, the workaround above changes the
exo configuraiton and will affect ALL (xfce4-)terminals opened via exo-
open, which might or might not be desirable.

[Bug 1426770] Re: Run In Terminal from whiskermenu fails

2015-02-28 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
Changing the last line of
  /usr/share/xfce4/helpers/xfce4-terminal.desktop
to
  X-XFCE-CommandsWithParameter=%B -H -x %s;
is at least a workaround for this bug; now the opened terminal window is hold
open even after the command has been run and returned. However, with this
modification you will always need to explicitly close the window after you are
done.

[Bug 1385479] [NEW] Review/-write section about upgrading

2014-10-24 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
Public bug reported:

Currently, the section about upgrading [1] only covers upgrading to the next
regular release. There should be
1) more information about the regular and LTS releases and the different
upgrade paths
2) some thoughts when it's wise to use the one or the other and finally,
3) clear instructions for upgrading to both an LTS and a regular release

[Bug 1385479] Re: Review/-write section about upgrading

2014-10-24 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
One way to make the section more legible for the end-user would be to
split up the section as following:

== Upgrading from an older version of Xubuntu ==
[paragraph or two about release cadence for regular and LTS releases and
upgrade paths]

then subsections:
- Upgrading to an LTS release
- Upgrading to a regular release
- Upgrading to a development release

This change covers the final changes to the Xubuntu Ubiquity slideshow

been ACK'd by the Project lead, Technical lead, and QA lead.

This change does not affect any translations, it is purely visual.

I was referring to possible screenshots that might need changing, or
similar. The translators and translations for the Xubuntu documentation

translators. We will take appropriate efforts to notify our translators
of the changes.

[Bug 1369100] [NEW] Update Xubuntu infrastructure to be able to gather statistics about IRC support

2014-09-13 Thread Pasi Lallinaho
Public bug reported:

Currently, we point users to the support channel three different ways:
- Installer slideshow
- Documentation startpage
- Help Support -page on the website
- Some forum signatures

These all use xubuntu... (where . is a random number) as the default
nick. The infrastructure configuration should be updated to use
xubuntu..i, xubuntu..w, xubuntu..w, xubuntu..f (or similar)
respectively default nicks to distinguish the source of the user.

The source statistics that we would be able to generate from this
information (for example with a simple IRC bot) would give us more
information about our users and the ways they seek for support.
