[Bug 1768588] Re: Blender is missing parts of the "System" tab panel and some configurations.

2018-05-10 Thread Ivan Paulos Tomé
Hi ! I have made some further investigation on this issue. This problem
occurs mostly in I686 fresh installs. Rarely in X86_64. Some overlays
are also missing (like the ones located at the "Splash Screen") unless
you force a proprietary driver install, or use "./blender-softwaregl" at
the folder obtained directly from BF. It seems there is an issue related
to OpenGL.

[Bug 1768588] [NEW] Blender is missing parts of the "System" tab panel and some configurations.

2018-05-02 Thread Ivan Paulos Tomé
Public bug reported:

(*)Ubuntu 18.04 (any flavor).

Blender 3D Modeler is missing 2/3 the "System tab" panel options
regarding to OpenGL, localization, font overrides, translations, lamp
directions and options to use custom colors for bone weights.

Since 18.04 beta 1 and 2, I have been comparing the blender 2.79b
present at the 18.04LTS obtained via apt-get to the one downloaded
directly from Blender Foundation. If you install Blender from apt-get
first, and then download and extract Blender from Blender Foundation in
any folder, running the software you can go to the "User preference"
options using CTRL U, and navigate to the "System tab" options.

Now, compare the system tab of both. 2/3 of the options are missing in
the default apt-get (*)ubuntu install.

Many thanks for fixing this !

Confirming with my Bluetooth MS mouse.

Adding a workaround:
you can lock your session. After unlocking, the icons will reappear.

[Bug 1064066] [NEW] Opening Windows Phone 7 MTP device causes huge memory leak

2012-10-08 Thread Paulos
Public bug reported:

Clean installation of Clementine 1.0.1 uses all the available memory when
attempting to connect/open and scan Windows Phone 7 (MTP) device for the first
time.
Updating 0% and Loading MTP device appear after confirming first time scan
dialog. Then it starts to allocate inadequate amounts of memory.
Rhythmbox and Nautilus load the library with no issues at all.

My WP7 device: Samsung Omnia 7

Steps to reproduce:
1) Buy a WP7 or Zune device
2) Connect the device to the PC and start Clementine
3) Navigate to Devices in the left column
4) Double-click the device (it will be something like this: 045e 04ec)
5) Confirm first-time scan
6) Watch your computer slowly dying and swapping and begging for memory

[Bug 328245] Re: asoundconf set-default-card directions incomplete

2009-05-24 Thread Paulos
I did everything mention above -- still no sound. I began messing with
the sound settings only because I wasn't able to use Skype. Everything
worked fine in Ubuntu 8.04. When I did the upgrade to 8.10 I lost my
sound-capture. When I tried to fix the problem, I've lost all sound.

[Bug 328245] Re: asoundconf set-default-card directions incomplete

2009-05-24 Thread Paulos
Here's what the little lightbulb indicates:

New Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) configuration presets have
been added. Please execute the asoundconf(1) set-default-card macro in
a Terminal now to refresh your user's configuration presets. You may
accomplish this task by executing the following command in a Terminal:
asoundconf set-default-card

My soundcard is listed as SI7012. I followed directions, without any
change to my problem.

[Bug 377311] [NEW] gnome unable to update during upgrade installation

2009-05-16 Thread Paulos
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

Sorry, I recently migrated from MS Windows - very limited knowledge at
this point. For whatever reason, the upgrade (from Ubunty 8.10 to v. 9)
locked up during the download portion, almost could not recover when I
rebooted. PC ran some sort of recovery for hours. Was able to continue
only with partial upgrade this morning.

When the partial upgrade was finished I went into package manager to fix
my broken filter - one broken package was repaired. Still generating a
crash report however.

Re: [Bug 224740] Re: update-grub fails during upgrade of the kernel

2009-03-05 Thread paulos
Hello Michael...

This is the first time I have been contacted (I am quite happy that you
contacted me).

Here's what I did. I got tired of messing around with the problem, so I
ordered a disk w/ 8.10. I backed up my files, and re-installed.

The only thing. I have this Belkin F5D7051 wireless USB Network adapter, and
Ubuntu won't boot when that's plugged in, interestingly enough. It may or may
not work after after startup is complete. I've messed around with this along
time too... seen a lot of headaches on the web... and I may just part with the
stick altogether and get a different one.

I do want to thank you for contacting me. Wow... it's amazing.

Blessings,
Paul

[Bug 315029] [NEW] Severely long boot times (1 hr)

2009-01-08 Thread Paulos
Public bug reported:

Ever since upgrading to Intrepid (from Hardy) my laptop takes 75 minutes
to boot, unless I press and hold the return key at each screen pause.

After continuing from the first pause the following warning is
displayed:

Clocksource tsc unstable (delta = 4398046171107 ns)

I believe that to be significant, being that is over 73 minutes! That
also happens to be how long it take to boot unattended.

In particular, it pauses for about 6 minutes each *after* the following
lines are echoed.

PATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x170 ctl 0x376 bmdma 0x30c8 irq 15
(which is immediately before the following line)

ata1.00: ATAPI: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530B, NH02, max MWDMA2
(which is before: ata1: nv_mode_filter: 0x39f0x39f-0x39f, BIOS=0x0
(0xc700) ACPI=0x39f (120:600:0x12))

forcedeth :00:0a.0: PCI INT A - Link[LMAC] - GSI 20 (level, low) -
IRQ 20
(which is before: forcedeth :00:0a.0: PCI INT A - Link[LMAC] - GSI
20 (level, low) - IRQ 20)

It pauses for about 9 minutes after the following line is echoed:

Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20
(which is before: sr 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0)

It pauses for about 9 minutes after the following adjacent lines are
echoed:

ata3.00: configured for UDMA/133
ata4: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300)
ata5: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300)
(which is before: ata6: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300))

After that is makes several pauses with prompts that are not written to
dmesg. I was unable to write them them all before the boot resumed.

This problem is occurs whether clocksource is either acpi_ps, hpet, or
tsc.

System specifications follow inline below. I've provided menu.lst,
snippets of syslog, as well as the outputs of lspci -vvnn and dmesg
