Hi Sebastien. Thanks for your help.
Bionic was the first Ubuntu LTS version not to include gnome-subtitles. While
I'm not sure exactly why this happened, but I assume it was likely because it
hadn't been updated to GTK 3 at the time Bionic was released. My rational for
it to be included in Bion

Gnome Subtitles 1.3 will only be available in the official repositories in

There are missing dependencies in this package that make the application crash
for most users.
This has been fixed in the original Debian package, where the most important
changes are the following (in debian/control):
-Depends: ${cli:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, ${shlibs:Dep
The gnome-subtitles package in Ubuntu is missing a dependency on
libmono-i18n4.0-all. The original debian package has already been
updated but it hasn't been synchronized yet to Ubuntu. Until that
happens, the easy fix will be to manually install libmono-i18n4.0-all.
That should fix your problem.
No problem. Actually I initially thought about doing in-place editing,
but it has its limitations when you work with multiple lines and
formatting. Hope you still find the application useful though!

Opening subtitles without text isn't currently supported in some subtitle
formats, including SRT.
