I have the same problem, howwever, the mouse still moves. My user name
shows up, but there is no text field to enter the password. There is
nothing on the screen that reacts to mouse click or key press. Ctrl-
alt-del does not react. I end up turning off the machine by holding
down the power
Today I upgraded to 13.10, hoping that this problem would be solved.
Unfortunately, I still have no way to avoid the top black bar on my
second monitor. That once I am using for Windows as a guest under
VmWare. In order to click on a Windows menu, I first have to click on
the VMWare tool, which
