[Bug 692148] [NEW] Muon unusable in Maverick KDE 4.6 betas

2010-12-19 Thread Perran Trevan
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: muon I upgraded to latest muon and qapt packages from repo. The muon programs load but clicking on any of the buttons e.g Check For Updates doesn't do anything. As a result I have to use Synaptic or aptitude from the command line. ** Affects: muon

[Bug 552165] Re: Boot speed increased from 30s to 50s when ureadahead enabled

2010-05-14 Thread Perran Trevan
Yes. That worked for me. Found this tip on Ubuntu forums and it looks so much better (if not any faster, in fact GRUB2 to desktop is now averaging 1 minute with the occasional long boot due to fscking). I still would prefer a continuous progress bar. The 5 dots cycle through several times before

Thanks for your time and hard work. However, I think my additions to this bug are now irrelevant. I have kept my install updated and purged and reinstalled bootchart so it includes the desktop (KDE) start-up. I also purged and reinstalled ureadahead. Now I have: - Without ureadahead: 1:12.90

[Bug 552165] Re: Boot speed increased from 30s to 50s when ureadahead enabled

2010-04-09 Thread Perran Trevan
I used bootchart with the 45 second delay disabled, so I think it stops before KDM auto-login. The full boot to desktop is faster with ureadahead enabled. However, I am frustrated that some updates to other packages have resulted in ureadahead taking an extra 10 seconds or so to do its business.

I have a similar problem since upgrading various packages today (inc. plymouth and mountall), so maybe ureadahead is not to blame? Boot times: - Without ureadahead = 30.69 s With ureadahead profiling = 32.36 s With ureadahead = 32.70 To be fair, ureadahead seems to make my desktop (KDE 4.4.2)
