Public bug reported:
Since Ubuntu 13.10 my computer needs the additional driver video driver
for AMD graphic cards by fglrx. However, while installing (K)Ubuntu I
don't have that driver. So I can only use my computer for about 10
seconds, then have to wait for about 30 seconds while it's frozen
In my opinion there should be added an option to enable Ctrl and Alt as a
replacement for Alt Gr just for the keys where it is necesary.
On a german keyboard, combination of Ctrl, Alt and + could be used to make
~ because it is not used for an other function. Even if it is also not
comfortable

So emacs can save the file (have you checked that it actually
updates the contents of the file), whereas both KDE and Gnome
packages fail to open
It seems to be a Qt/KDE issue. kate and gedit report this error also.

Kate or does Kate behave the same way as Kile?

Same issue at:
Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic koala) (dist-upgrade from intrepid)
Qt: 4.5.2
KDE: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
Kile: 2.0.83
emacs works.

Both Qt, KDE and Kile has jumped a major version since those. Would
that you have write access to this file or that enough disk space is
available.
Before editing the file the user set the umask to 002. Editing the file
with emacs works,
Regards.

I have a 1.83 GHz T2400 Core Duo with 2GB in my Inspiron 9400. I do a
lot of math intensive simulation that run for hours. I was running
Windows and hit the memory limitation (could only access 1 GB for the
application) so switched to Ubuntu. In Ubuntu, the application could
access 1.7 GB, but
Kernel 2.6.20-12 already working fine, sorry for the premature
information.

Nevertheless the upgrade process did not succeed. I reported the bug as
