[Bug 402076] Re: send email with special characters in attachment file name fails: unable to open the temporary file

2009-07-22 Thread Poe
Hi Folks

Thanks a lot for trying. I found #201655 by googling and added mine without
noticing that your forum is for ubuntu only. I have this bug on Windows and
after finding the official thunderbird bug list, I noticed, that this error is
actually well known, however it won't be fixed until version 3.0

So sorry about bothering all of you. Ubuntu seams to have solved this
issue.

thanks,
Philipp

[Bug 402076] [NEW] send email with special characters in attachment file name fails: unable to open the temporary file

2009-07-21 Thread Poe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

send email with special characters in attachment file name fails:
unable to open the temporary file

This bug has been reported under the number #201655 and marked as
resolved.

However, it is not resolved in Windows32 Version 2.2 yet.

I tried to attach a picture with a special character in the file name (small i
trema, means a i with two dots: ' ï '.
I got the very same error:
unable to open the temporary file
removing the special character in the file name worked, however in the era of
Unicode, this should not be an issue anymore.

Thank you for the report, but this is not a launchpad bug, re-assigning to
Ubuntu. We're interested in why you accidentally recorded this bug as
occurring in Launchpad instead of Ubuntu. If you can explain what happened,
please let us know in bug 88818.

I launched in Launchpad because i got there when I wanted to file a bug report
in Ubuntu.
The website is very confusing if you want to report a bug and you don't know
where you have to be.

There is probably somewhere a good report link but only for insiders.

It would help to clearly define different area's for which you can file bug
reports.
for example :

to report a problem with a package - name package version number bug .
and then internally automatic distribute the bugreport to the right person.

As a bug reporter I do not need to know the person but the package and version
number and what happened/caused the problem.

There are too many sites for bugreporting, A link to the right site would be
good and an uniform way of filing a bugreport is better.

Maybe looking new ways for bugreporting could improve the numbers of filed
bugs. Nowadays it is too complicated for outsiders.
