All Kernels later then 3.2.x does no longer work correctly.
I have tried the latest 3.7-rc3 kernel too , but even this one fails.

Latest working kernel was the 3.2 series.

Tried all available firmares out for the motherboard but it doesnt make
any difference.

Btw 3.7-rc doesn't run on this mainboard without disabling IDE support

[Bug 361903] Re: Cursor Keys not working with NXClient

2010-07-28 Thread Reinhard Berger
The get this thing working, you must have the same version of NXCleint
and NXServer running on the machines.

If not both versions are 3.4.x it will not work.

Example : If you have Version less then 3.4 on server side and client
version 3.4.x then it does not work.

Both Server and Client need to be have the same version, if you only
change server or client it doesnt work too.

Tested with hardy 8.04 with nxserver 3.4.0-12 and lucid 10.04 with
nxclient 3.4.0-7.

Also i think if both system uses same X-Server Version the bug should
not appear even on older nxcleint/nxserver - dont't know for sure just
think so.

The Bug is fixed since NoMachine released newer versions of
nxcleint/nxserver.

Either this is still a bug in X-Server and NoMachine works around of
this wiith thier new versions, or the NXServer program itself has had a
bug with X-Server 1.6 - hard to tell where the problem is.

But since it is working now with newer versions of NXServer/NXCleint
this bug is gone and this is the main thing , doesnt matter how it has
been fixed.

[Bug 553989] Re: TV HDMI No Signal Lucid Lynx, NVidia and Sony Vaio

2010-05-09 Thread Reinhard Berger
1st check if your HDMI Soundcard is dedected.

Try aplay -l and look for the outout smiler :

 List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: VT1708S Analog [VT1708S Analog]
  Subdevices: 2/2
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
  Subdevice #1: subdevice #1
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 1: VT1708S Digital [VT1708S Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 3: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

If you see something like this card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 3: NVIDIA
HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
your HDMI Audio should work.

If you still doesnt hear something then it is becouse the Mute for
HDMI/Digital output is set.

Check ALSA Mixer and open his settings.

There are settings for volume controls which are hidden (not displayed)

This are called for example ICE958 on most NVIDIA Cards.

Click to enable this volume setting in ALSA Mixer and uncheck the mute
checkbox.

Right after this you should hear a sound.

Be sure to set HDMI as Sound Output in GNOME/KDE Multimedia Settings.

if you do not see your HDMI Soundcard listed with aplay -l then you
don't will get it to work, since it is not supported right now by ALSA.

You can try to download and compile yourself a new alsa version from

Lucid is already shipped with currently latest ALSA version.

Same with NVIDIA 8200M.

Even newest driver 195.36.24 does not work, as well as the nuvauo.

Both drivers reconzize the connected TV and his features thru DDS
(means the Modell Name and the supported resultions are visible int the
nvidia config), but then after clicking apply the signal does not come
along to the TV.

Either the TwinView nor the Seperate X Screen works (even after
reseting) the X-Server.

The TV always reports No Signal or Unsupported Mode.

[Bug 433028] Re: KDM_greet: cannot load .../default.face while don't exist

2009-10-23 Thread Reinhard Berger
Yes, this comes when you change the default desktop theme from Oxygen
to something else.

You need to login to an empty Destop and press ALT+F2 to open a exute command
line, type in systemsettings
and change the style back to Oxygen.

After an logout and and a new login you get again a complete desktop.

I can't even find this folder /faces

NEITEHER ON JAUNTY OR KARMIC.

This BUG prevents karmic from using any other style as Oxygen.

The problem is, that first it works when you switch the style, but as
soon as you re-login or re-start you only get an empty or black desktop.

[Bug 361903] Re: Cursor Keys not working with NXClient

2009-06-05 Thread Reinhard Berger
I've found the solution by the Nomachine website.

The reason why this happen is the newer XServer 1.6

When you use 2 diffrent NX Systems (a older one with V 2.) on e.g.
ubuntu 8.04 and a newer one V3.x - or even a V2 one on a newer XServer
1.6 (e.g. ubuntu 9.04) then this cursor keys are mapped incorrectly to
the V2 NX Server.

The solution is either - if possible - update the V2 Server to a V3
Version , or if not possible add on your NX CLIENT Side the following
lines into the /etc/x11/ xorg.conf file :

Section ServerFlags
Option AutoAddDevices false

Note : Adding this will disable local country keyboard support, the
keyboard is then set to US/English

To enable locale keyboard support again, you must write the following :

Section InputDevice
Identifier Keyboard0
Driver kbd
Option XkbLayout de

For Example this will enable german = de keyboard support.

After adding this a restart of the X-Server is required.

[Bug 359910] [NEW] eggdrop does not work in background under jaunty

2009-04-12 Thread Reinhard Berger
Public bug reported:

Self compiled eggdrop from www.eggheads.orf does not work under jaunty ,
if started as background.

The bot configure and compile fine, when started then with ./eggdrop
config.conf the bots starts in background task, but will not appear on
irc.

Also it is not possible to telnet to it, it just hangs with

Connected to 85.124.xx.xx.
Escape character is '^]'

nothing more, eggdrop must be killed with kill command, it works when
using ./eggdrop -n configfile.conf

Doesnt matter wich eggdrop version, 1.6.19 or 1.6.18 both doesnt work.

eggdrop from reposity works, but no SELF compiled one.

[Bug 164652] Re: live cd gusty hang in Loading Hardware Drivers

2008-03-19 Thread Reinhard Berger
Using the F6 with ACPI=off brings the following :

An loop with the following messages :

ata2.00 : status (DRDY)
ata2: soft resetting link
ata2.00 configured for PIO0
ata2: EH complete
ata2.00 exception Emask 0X0 SAct 0x0 Serr 0x0 action 0x2 frozen

res 40/00 :00 00 00 00 00 00/00 00 00 00 00/00 Emask 0x4 (timeout)

Without the acpi=off the system boots to a later stage as described
above.

How can i specify do not use/load the pcmcia driver during boot ?

[Bug 164652] Re: live cd gusty hang in Loading Hardware Drivers

2008-03-02 Thread Reinhard Berger
The bug still exists even in the hardy alpha 5 Version.

Also, hardy does now not boot to this screen by default, it already hung
by after the progress bar switches to the percent complete mode (after
the bar discontinues to run left and right).

By pressing ALT+F1 before i can switch off the splash screen, but only
see Loading please wait on screen.

By using the Boot Option with F6 and turn on the all options there, i
can boot until the screen displayes the loading Hardware Drives ...

This time i do not get any more the error reciving uevent message: No
buffer space avialable error message, instaed the system now freezes
and only the messages :

Setting preliminary keymap... [ OK ]
 * Preparing restricted drivers... [ OK ]
 * Starting basic networking... [ OK ]
*Starting kernel event manager... [ OK ]
 * Loading hardware drivers...

are visible on screen.

I waited at least 10 mins before i turn off the system.

The boot Option with F6 is very nice, please also include next tike the
nopcmcia paramter, think i can overcome with that then the boot problem.

2008-03-02 Thread Reinhard Berger
I tried now the live CD once again and used the f6 parameter , this time
i do no check any special paramaters, i only removed in the line Boot
Options the words quit splash --

The line now displays the following : file=/cdrom/preseed/kubuntu.seed
boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.gz
after pressing enter and loading the linux kernel message, the screens scrolls
down and displays many more information.

I can see some messages like :

[Bug 164652] Re: live cd gusty hang in Loading Hardware Drivers

2007-11-29 Thread Reinhard Berger
well, i am sorry there are no more error messages as this one.

i attached a photo so that you can see it.

the screen looks like the following

* Setting preliminary keymap...  [ OK ]
* Preparing restricted drivers... [ OK ]
* Starting basic networking...  [ OK ]
*Starting kernel event manager... [ OK ]
* Loading hardware drivers...
error reciving uevent message: No buffer space avialable

The notebook just displays this and hung up until i turn it off. (CD and
harddrive spins down after some mins)

i am pretty shure the problem is the pcmcia , since knoppix also hung on
loading pcmcia drivers, but somehow the nopcmcia option works in
knoppix.

Note :
Isn't it possible to change the commands more user friendly ?

The commands to enter in ubuntu are very difficluld since not all users
(as me) have a U.S. keybord layout.

With a german keyboardit is diffiluld to enter chars like = or / .

Commands should be only commands without any special chars inside them.

[Bug 164652] Re: live cd gusty hang in Loading Hardware Drivers

2007-11-28 Thread Reinhard Berger
I tried today a live cd from knoppix, wich shows smiler problems, it
also hung at dedecting drivers, but i can see now where the problem is,
the problem is the pcmcia driver.

If i boot knoppix with the nopcmcia option it works.
Unfortunaly the same option in ubuntu doesnt work, i tried the option live
hw-detect/start_pcmcia=false but gusty still freezes at dedecting hardware
drivers.

So there must be something more then this too.
