[Bug 763159] [NEW] Sharing a folder in an NT drive produces incomprehensible error

2011-04-16 Thread Rich Jones
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

To reproduce, open an NT formated drive (like this external), then right click
share, Create Share.
Result: Folder not shared, user is given incomprehensible message and now way
to resolve the issue.

Re: [Bug 683856] Re: Clicking on the far-right hand side of a maximized window does not scroll

2011-01-11 Thread Rich Jones
I assume that this is happening because of the border around the window. The
border is pretty ugly (again, not present on OSX), but necessary in GTK
right now because that's how window resizing is done. I'd suggest that
instead, window resizing be done with an _invisible_ border (ideally with
the same default radius as the shadow in Compiz) and that the rendered
border be completely independent, and not present on maximized windows.

[Bug 421326] Re: Genre should not be Enabled by Default or Moved

2010-03-12 Thread Rich Jones
That's not an argument!

How in the world could Rock/Pop be more useful in terms of
identification than the _name of the person who is going to be singing
to you_ ??!! If it is still included, why should it be given such
priority? - at least move it! And why would it be Unknown - it is my
library, this is all the music I added, I know what I'm listening to. I
don't think that's an appropriate example.

As I mentioned upstream:

It's because the genre information doesn't directly pertain
specifically to the song.

It's an issue of order of importance. Title-Artist-Album-Genre is descending in
terms of importance. Title-Genre-Artist-Album doesn't have any order - it is
nonsensical.

Ex, iTunes: http://www.theater-pro.com/content/images/itunes.jpg

I think that the funniest thing about this is that even on their OWN
screenshots page, they have changed the default behaviour because it is
so stupid and ugly: http://projects.gnome.org/rhythmbox/screenshots/rb-
auto-playlist.png

I'm surprised there is actually resistance to this.

I'm glad this is being taken into consideration - but why Super+W/A? Not

I guess my main issue is.. how will people know that this exists? If

that most converts/normal people even know that a) the Windows key is
super and b) that it can be used to do things besides push the Windows

Here is a more sensible alternative (but will be a slightly harder patch):

I think #2 is the simplest and easiest solution right now.

** Description changed:

The 'Genre' column is largely useless by default, and seems to be placed

[Bug 421326] Re: [UI]: Genre should not be Enabled by Default or Moved

2009-08-29 Thread Rich Jones
Just out of curiosity, how many people here actually keep the 'Genre'
column? Everybody I know has gotten rid of it.

[Bug 421326] Re: [UI]: Genre should not be Enabled by Default or Moved

2009-08-29 Thread Rich Jones
** Also affects: hundredpapercuts
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The 'Genre' column is largely useless by default, and seems to be placed
  in a nonsensical place.

Title - Genre - Artist - Album doesn't make any sense. Title - Artist -
Album does. If you still want Genre, make it Title - Artist - Album -
- Genre, like iTunes.
+ Genre, like iTunes. Otherwise, it is confusing for new users.

Upstream will not be interested in fixing this (he seems like a jerk),
but he may be willing to accept a patch.

  Thoughts?

[Bug 388303] Re: Eye of Gnome should have Image Collection enabled by default

2009-08-18 Thread Rich Jones
Well, I'm not particularly experienced, but I'd always suggest sending
patches upstream. I think this is a good improvement which would improve
the upstream version as well.

Make a bug there, submit the patch and link them to this thread.

[Bug 410792] [NEW] Song progress and Search bars should be in the same VBox

2009-08-08 Thread Rich Jones
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Minor UI annoyance:

Why is the song progress bar so big, and why does the Search bar cut
into the browse screen? These could easily be moved onto the same line
to remove some of the wasted space.

If somebody agrees, I will write the patch for this.

If the overhaul is already being done, how about adding this:

Trivial fix, adds a lot of power though

I don't know how to contact them upstream. I've sent emails to the

I'm more interested in this bug:
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/389133 , for which
I actually provide a patch.

[Bug 395322] [NEW] Load averages should be moved to Resources tab

2009-07-03 Thread Rich Jones
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

After working on this bug:
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts/+bug/389133

and spending time working on the Processes tab, I've realized that the
Load Averages at the top are ugly and out of place on the process tab
and should be moved to the resources tab.

If somebody else agrees with me, I will create a patch.

_really_ important that the buttons correspond to actions, not answers
to questions.
