[Bug 178038] Re: npviewer.bin crashed with SIGSEGV

Skwerl,

quite to the contrary, the unsubscribe button is not working for some
people. I have unsubscribed using your method four seperate times. Each
time, the unsubscribe is ignored. Unsubscribe is broken.

[Bug 178038] Re: npviewer.bin crashed with SIGSEGV

2009-06-15 Thread Richard Fairthorne
Shockingly, it doesn't work. I too was frustrated with the list of
unsubscribes. In the last hour, I have thrice unsubscribed to this bug
using the unsubscribe button. Yet, I get more emails, and when I visit
the bug in my browser, I appear to still be subscribed.

Something is not as it should be.

Anyone care to file a bug report?

[Bug 333140] Re: linux server kernel 2.6.24-23 crashes every 8 to 12 hours

2009-02-25 Thread Richard Fairthorne
Unfortunately I can't do that. My customers have just calmed down about
the constant crashes, and now would be a bad time to have another one.

I'll wait for the next kernel upgrade, and take note of the information
I should send so that if I still experience crashes, I'll be in a better
position to report then.

Thanks.

[Bug 327940] Re: network manager does not connect with ath5k

2009-02-24 Thread Richard Fairthorne
Could anyone explain to me how this is a driver bug? I write code, and
I'd certainly fix it if I understood how it was determined that the
fault was with the driver.

I'd like to note that the interface operates flawlessly if I manually
configure the link and run dhcp.

If iwconfig and iwlist can determine that it's a wireless interface, why
can't network manager?

[Bug 327386] Re: [jaunty] Font becomes far too big

2009-02-22 Thread Richard Fairthorne
I can confirm that the DPI on my system was set high. Where does this
number come from? My laptop changes this DPI setting when I plug in my
TV and sets it back when I unplug it. That behavior is not desirable. My
netbook, whose resolution is similar to my TV, starts with high DPI by
default after an update.

Fixing the resolution setting under fonts/details corrected the screen
appearance.

[Bug 269963] Re: [intrepid] network-manager should recommend or suggest dnsmasq

2009-02-19 Thread Richard Fairthorne
Just wanted to point out that this isn't just about sharing connections,
but in fact affects *all* ad-hoc networks. I think dnsmasq-base should
be a *requirement*, not just suggested, because Network Manager presents
in its menus features that just don't work without it. If it's broken
without it, it should be considered a requirement. my 2c.

[Bug 327940] [NEW] network manager does not connect with ath5k

2009-02-11 Thread Richard Fairthorne
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

On a fresh install of jaunty, my intel based laptop connected to my
wireless network perfectly. My acer aspire one, on the other hand, does
not connect without manual intervention. It is using the ath5k driver
which loads sucessfully, but the network manager applet does not see
that there is a wireless card (Enable wireless is grayed out) and I have
to configure the network by hand.

To configure the network I merely typed:

iwconfig wlan0 essid obstaclesgone_com key=somekeythatiuse
dhclient wlan0

It works flawlessly but refuses to configure with Network Manager. Need
any info.. just ask and I'll post it.

[Bug 202882] Re: [needs-sync] Please upgrade DTC from 0.25.3-2 to current stable (0.28.2)

2008-11-05 Thread Richard Fairthorne
Hi Thomas!

I run a small development company called Obstacles Gone Corporation
http://obstaclesgone.com and we use dtc to host a limited number of our
own clients. The structure of DTC allows me to treat the server as if
there is no control panel for my own advanced purposes, while giving
customers a simple control panel to meet their needs.

I know that the version I have is outdated, and I don't feel it's ready
for mass hosting due to a few bugs.

I also think there are bugs in the post-install scripts, probably only
affecting ubuntu. I had to do a lot of tweaking by hand.

Hopefully this has been all worked out now.

I confirmed the issue but I don't know if that actually gets us any
attention. I'm hoping these comments will. I've got a crazy schedule for
the next few days, but I'll try to find some more information on the
process for getting an update included over the weekend.

[Bug 233876] [NEW] sftp usernames with '@' sign are stored incorrectly by bookmarks

2008-05-21 Thread Richard Fairthorne
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

To reproduce the problem:

1. connect to an sftp server (maybe others) using a username that contains an
'@' sign. Be sure to bookmark the server.
2. browse the server, verifying that information was entered correctly.
3. try to use the bookmark.

what will happen?

1. Additional authentication will be requested and fail.
2. Server logs will show failed attempts to authenticate using only the portion
of the username before the '@' sign.

I do not know if I'm reporting the correct package. Here is some
additional info:
