Re: [Bug 206346] Re: evolution will not connect to exchange 2007 server
@Sukesh: What version of Evolution are you running? If this is working fine under Fedora, that suggests that Fedora is shipping a newer version of Evolution than Ubuntu 11.10 which connects to Exchange 2007 server. I didn't try KMS in Ubuntu 9.10. /var/log/kern.log and /var/log/syslog show a conflict during boot between radeondrmfb and the generic EFI VGA and that is when I see the corruption commence. Screenshots don't show any problem. I am attaching a digital photo of the screen which shows what looks to be a pixel re-ordering problem. This appeared when I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.10 to Lucid Lynx and remained after I enabled the xorg-edgers PPA. rwil...@test-laptop:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch) Release:10.04 rwil...@test-laptop:~$ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.5+1ubuntu2 Candidate: 1:7.5+1ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1:7.5+1ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status rwil...@test-laptop:~$ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-ati xserver-xorg-video-ati: Installed: 1:6.12.99+git20100204.8d63d70f-0ubuntu0sarvatt Candidate: 1:6.12.99+git20100204.8d63d70f-0ubuntu0sarvatt Version table: *** 1:6.12.99+git20100204.8d63d70f-0ubuntu0sarvatt 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:6.12.99+git20100126.e5933fd7-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com lucid/main Packages rwil...@test-laptop:~$ apt-cache policy libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-dri: Installed: 7.8.0~git20100204.4ac9c80e-0ubuntu0sarvatt Candidate: 7.8.0~git20100204.4ac9c80e-0ubuntu0sarvatt Version table: *** 7.8.0~git20100204.4ac9c80e-0ubuntu0sarvatt 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net lucid/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 7.7-0ubuntu8 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com lucid/main Packages ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Fri Feb 5 06:00:45 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 DkmsStatus: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala - Alpha i386 (20091012) Lsusb: Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04a9:3085 Canon, Inc. LVDS output has the corruption. I am typing this with Firefox displaying on an adjacent screen using the VGA output and it looks normal! I dragged this Firefox window from one screen to the other and it displays scrambled on LVDS and clear on the other. In fact, with the same Firefox window bridging the divide I see one half of the window corrupted and the other clear at the same time. The top line on LVDS has about the first 300-350 pixels from the left black and the rest are the normal color except directly above the temperature of the weather applet. -- [lucid] KMS screen corruption fb and X on Radeon Mobility 7500 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/517577 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Simply updating hplip to require hplip-cups for Ubuntu 9.10 would be a service to all who install this package under that distribution. [Bug 473622] Re: presenter-console is displayed on same monitor as slideshow
Dear CH, Thanks for filing this bug and the others. After I made the comment on this bug I went and read the others and tried Compiz with similar results. I found the task bar and menu bar panels somewhat distracting on top of the presenter-console. I moved the task bar up to the left and could then see the timer, etc. at the bottom of the presenter- console. Used it for a presentation and liked it that way. Two problems remain for me with the Compiz deployment: 1. I would like to be able to use the projector's 1360x768 with my laptop's 1024x768 but can't under Compiz because the horizontal combination totals 2384 2048 (driver limit). I suppose I could try over/under configuration instead of side-by-side, but the alignment will at best be awkward. (I can use 1360x768 beside 1024x768 in Metacity just fine under Ubuntu 9.04 with OOo and the presenter-console.) 2. Compiz leaves a lot to be desired as far as cleaning up the secondary display from dragged windows and intermittent corruption of the background on the primary display. I upgraded ATI driver from xorg-edgers driver-only PPA (Nov09 instead of Sep09) and it is somewhat better. -- presenter-console is displayed on same monitor as slideshow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/473622 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 473622] Re: presenter-console is displayed on same monitor as slideshow
I have both Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10 installed in different partitions on this Dell Latitude C640 laptop (i386). I keep both fully updated and ever since the beginning(9.10beta), OpenOffice.org Impress with presenter-console has worked flawlessly under 9.04 but under 9.10 the presenter-console (1.1.0+OOo3.1.1-5ubuntu1) only works correctly if the secondary display has smaller number of pixels than the primary display. [Ubuntu 9.10] uname -a Linux test-laptop 2.6.31-16-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 8 04:01:29 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux In testing with the secondary display having a larger pixel dimensions than the primary display and the slide show configured to appear on the secondary display, I noticed that the presenter console appears in front of the slide show on the secondary display sized to occupy the correct dimensions for full screen on the primary display. If the slide show is configured to appear on the primary display or the displays have the same pixel dimensions, the presenter console fills the secondary display and slide show is obscured beneath it. Neither is displayed on the primary display. Testing Results laptop 640x480 800x600 1024x768 projector 640x480FailsWorksWorks 800x600FailsFails Works 1024x768 FailsFailsFails 1360x768 FailsFailsFails I prefer the higher resolution modes on the projector as the image is magnified many times the laptop screen size and thus profits more from higher resolution than the presenter-console! This is the reason I am not upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10 for my work partitions, yet. I downloaded the source code (apt-get source openoffice.org-presenter- console; apt-get build-dep openoffice.org-presenter-console;) and found what looked like a display indexing problem but haven't figured out how to build this beast in order to test my changes. Could someone point me to a page detailing the blessed way to download source and rebuild the presenter-console package? [Bug 436226] Re: System testing cannot test internal mic
Karmic Koala Beta daily build 20091012 i386 Desktop demonstrates this failure of System Testing (Checkbox) using internal sound system. The problem has to do with integrating Checkbox into the audio path. I say this because I subsequently opened up gnome-sound-recorder 2.28.1 and recorded my voice and played it back audibly using the same settings as the test. On my Dell Latitude C640 laptop I observed the same behaviour with both the internal microphone and also an external microphone. [Bug 176707] Re: error importing photos with f-spot on ppc: LibGPhoto2.CameraFile.GetDataAndSize () - Number overflow.
This is still a problem with fully updated Hardy LTS (8.04.2). Every time I plug a digital camera into my laptop (PPC) the first thing it does is crash F-Spot. I close the unhandled exception window and open gThumb manually which works great. I wish either: 1. Hardy LTS F-Spot were updated with this fix (I filed 582113 on Gnome bugzilla against v0.4.3.1 and was notified it had been resolved long ago, but in Intrepid), or 2. I could choose gThumb as the default handler when a digital camera is detected (it works great!). Kind of embarrassing to have the main application crash every time I plug in a digital camera. With gThumb the digital camera support is simple and Just Works. The Long-Term Support edition of Ubuntu (Hardy 8.04) is scheduled for support on the desktop till April 2011--two years from now. -- error importing photos with f-spot on ppc: LibGPhoto2.CameraFile.GetDataAndSize () - Number overflow. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176707 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 74279] Re: error importing photos in ptp mode
I tried f-spot under an updated Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex install with same laptop (iBook G4) and same camera (Canon PowerShot G5) and it works just fine! I'm not using 8.10 for everyday because it has issues resuming from Suspend--pretty important for a travelling laptop. So, f-spot v0.5.0.3 works f-spot v0.4.3.1 fails As 8.04 (Hardy Heron) is a Long-Term Support version and f-spot is the default application when I plug in my camera, I think this fix would be a useful one to backport. (gThumb works like a charm in both releases.) By the way, how do I set gThumb to be the default application to handle a USB camera? Neither Preferred Applications nor Multimedia Systems Selector offer to configure this option, and neither gThumb nor f-spot have a preferences setting to become the default USB camera application. -- error importing photos in ptp mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/74279 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 251936] [NEW] evolution can't authenticate to Exchange 2007 server
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution Tried both 'Plaintext' and 'Secure' password types and can't authenticate to Exchange 2007 OWA server with the same account information I use for Firefox access through same URL. Evolution Exchange access used to work fine before my company's Information Services upgraded from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. [Bug 98625] Re: Reminder pop-up for exchange calender items does not work
Ben, thanks for the tip. I rebooted some time after I wrote the last comment to let a kernel update take effect. Upon reboot the gconf settings were still there but I no longer received notifications/alarms. I was disappointed until I just looked at your tip and tried deselecting and reselecting my Exchange calendar for alarms in preferences and it immediately responded with an overdue alarm. Strange that I could see the appointments but not receive any notifications as if the events weren't being put into the notification queue when the Exchange calendar connection was initially established. -- Reminder pop-up for exchange calender items does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/98625 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 98625] Re: Reminder pop-up for exchange calender items does not work
Following comments in another bug discussion, I ran codecd; gconf- editor/code and noticed that apps-evolution-calendar-notify-calendars == [] while apps-evolution-calendar-display-selected_calendars == [EMAIL PROTECTED],[EMAIL PROTECTED] So, I thought I might as well try to populate the notify-calendars[] list with the names of the calendars as they appear in display-selected_calendars[]. First, I tried to copy and paste text from the Configuration Editor window without success. Then I typed the names into a text editor and then right-clicked on notify-calendars[] and selected Edit Key. Finally, I clicked +Add for each calendar name and pasted the text in from my text editor window, clicked OK, and then Quit. I restarted Evolution, created a test appointment on the Exchange calendar to occur in 17 minutes and happily received a notification in 2 minutes (15 minutes before the appointment)! Now, the remaining question is, Why does the local Personal calendar give alarm/notification/reminder without being listed in notify-calendars[]? Even more troubling, Why aren't any calendars listed in notify-calendars[] when two are selected in the preferences for both display and notification? -- Reminder pop-up for exchange calender items does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/98625 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 86426] Re: Printing fails to correctly render on page (print preview, too)
I created a small test message and printed it to a PostScript file from within Evolution 2.10.1. [Bug 46613] Re: Always prints A4 paper
Installed Ubuntu 7.04 (kernel 2.6.20-15 SMP x86_64) on my Linux box here at work--a Dell Optiplex 745 (Intel Core 2 6300 @ 1.86GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD)--on Fri 20 Apr 2007. I have tried configuring an HP LaserJet 8000DN over JetDirect with PostScript driver and both Paper size and PageRegion == 'Letter'. Still the print manager test page and evolution always print to A4 page size as evidenced by printer requesting I load A4 paper. (Evolution used to allow you to pick a paper size and I can't find that even in advanced options with the new version.) The print manager would seem like a lovely place to at least display the default page size--if not allow administrators to adjust it. I didn't realize /etc/papersize existed, much less it's overarching significance. I appreciate the note above explaining the dpkg- reconfigure way to fix this. Although, this is not something I expected to be broken. Why do you have to reinstall printers after correcting the default paper size? This fixed the print manager test page. Firefox defaults to 'letter' size! Evolution still tries to print to 'A4' with no visible way to override. ** Attachment added: Output of printingbuginfo and lpoptions http://librarian.launchpad.net/7600550/debug_info.txt -- Always prints A4 paper https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/46613 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 86426] Re: Printing fails to correctly render on page (print preview, too)
I am using a fresh install of Ubuntu 7.04 on a new machine (x86_64 SMP). [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/cups/ppd$ ls LaserJet-8000.ppd [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/cups/ppd$ grep Default LaserJet-8000.ppd | grep -i A4 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/cups/ppd$ grep Default LaserJet-8000.ppd | grep -i Letter *DefaultPageSize: Letter *DefaultPageRegion: Letter *DefaultImageableArea: Letter *DefaultPaperDimension: Letter [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/cups/ppd$ Firefox and print-manager test page both work at letter size. I can't print E-mail messages from Evolution as they are sent to the printer as 'A4' size pages and it asks me to load A4 paper of which I have none. I hit 'go' on the printer and it tries to print it on 'legal' size paper which also doesn't work well. I used Evolution under Ubuntu 6.10 to print on letter size paper all the time for important messages. Something broke since then. What other information can I provide to help solve this bug? Where should I look for the trouble? ** Attachment added: Output of printingbuginfo and lpoptions http://librarian.launchpad.net/7600588/debug_info.txt -- Printing fails to correctly render on page (print preview, too) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/86426 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 98625] Re: Reminder pop-up for exchange calender items does not work
I confirm this bug's presence on a fresh install of Ubuntu 7.04 Desktop (x86_64 SMP, my work machine) that is fully updated. Event notifications/alarms work for the Personal calendar but not the exchange calendar even though they are both selected in preferences-Calendar and Tasks-Alarms. What information would be helpful in solving this bug? I used to count on notifications from my Exchange calendar events under Ubuntu 6.10 when I was using a different machine. This is pretty unhandy as I kept expecting it to work and checking the configuration after I missed the notifications. ** Changed in: evolution-exchange (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Confirmed -- Reminder pop-up for exchange calender items does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/98625 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Just for kicks I typed: (gdb) next Single stepping until exit from function pthread_cond_wait@@GLIBC_2.3.2, which has no line number information. and the processor usage immediately rose to 100% (with CPU fan start). It doesn't seem to make it back from that call, as far as I can see. On the other hand, why should pthread_cond_wait() take up large amounts of CPU time? That seems like a poor implementation. Maybe gdb is confused about what call gnome-cups-icon is actually in because of the above noted stack problems. Any thoughts?
