[Bug 1680904] Re: zesty unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference

2017-10-16 Thread Sabuj Pattanayek
just happened for me running 4.10.10-041010-generic running google-
chrome-beta, went to this page : http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-10-16
/north-korea-missile-range-map/8880894 . If you're running vanilla
kernels you need 4.11.6 I think?

[Bug 1527908] [NEW] vlc directfb doesn't work

Public bug reported:

I upgraded to Vivid and vlc video output stopped working, mplayer works
fine though. First I got this error :

[Bug 1313952] Re: octave-cli: ../../../../../../../src/mesa/drivers/dri/i965/brw_eu_emit.c:267: validate_reg: Assertion `execsize = width' failed.

2014-09-13 Thread Sabuj Pattanayek
This is a bug in the intel dri driver and occurred for me while using
flightgear, but looks like can happen in libreoffice as well.

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?format=multipleid=70441

Building mesa 10.2.7 from source and installing fixes the issue :

intel core gpu (ironlake), ubuntu 14.04 64 bit

wget ftp://ftp.freedesktop.org/pub/mesa/10.2.7/MesaLib-10.2.7.tar.bz2
tar jxvf MesaLibtab
cd MesaLibtab
sudo apt-get install build-essential
sudo apt-get build-dep mesa
./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-gles1 --enable-gles2 --enable-xa
--enable-opencl-icd --with-dri-drivers=i915,i965 --enable-glx-tls
--with-dri-driverdir=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri --with-egl-platforms='drm
x11' --with-gallium-drivers=
make -j
sudo make install

[Bug 1160569] Re: [regression] GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion `sys_page_size == 0' failed

2013-08-15 Thread Sabuj Pattanayek
As I expected thunderbird worked after the reboot, even though on
startup it threw the same g_slice_set_config assertion. Before rebooting
I had tried to flush /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches, didn't look to clear an
ipcs though, not sure if it uses those, but I'll clear any ipcs I find
next time (using fluxbox so shouldn't matter as long as any other
processes are stopped). I did che check ps for any thunderbird processes
and none were running, nor were the lock and .parentlock files in the
thunderbird dot dir

on 13.04. It was ok with 12.04 and 12.10 .

[Bug 777539] Re: vga1 external output from laptop causes out of of range error on external LCD monitor when only the external output is enabled and LVDS is disabled

2011-05-05 Thread Sabuj Pattanayek
Well, I'm not sure why it's not working with gnome-display-properties,
or if it's a problem with gnome or its window manager. I went into
fluxbox, used xrandr and arandr to turn off LVDS1 and leave VGA1 turned
on, and it works fine.

[Bug 777539] [NEW] vga1 external output from laptop causes out of of range error on external LCD monitor when only the external output is enabled and LVDS is disabled

2011-05-04 Thread Sabuj Pattanayek
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

In 10.10 I could enable only the external vga output from my laptop
disabling the LVDS (LCD attached to the laptop) using gnome-display-
properties. In 11.04, if I try to do this, the LCD attached to the
external vga output reports an OUT OF RANGE error, e.g. it's getting the
wrong modeline or something. I've only tried the native resolution of
the external LCD monitor, 1280x1024 at the two supported refresh rates
of 60Hz and 75Hz and neither work properly. However, if I have both the
LVDS and VGA1 enabled (e.g. , the external monitor), the external
monitor works at the native resolution and at either refresh rates.
