[Bug 1943833] Re: Failed to update metadata for lvfs

2021-12-04 Thread Sarah Hide
When opening KDE Discover on Kubuntu 20.04 I get the same error.

"Failed to update metadata for lvfs: checksum failure: failed to verify
data, expected 98261db7124c8026fb88f77768787efc2f8355c3"

Running "fwupdmgr refresh" completes successfully without error but
doesn't solve the issue.

[Bug 1714074] Re: Aegisub plays back at 2x speed after changing focus to different program

2020-10-18 Thread Sarah Kiritsumi
I had this issue as well, and this was the setting I changed to fix it:

View -> Options -> Advanced -> Audio -> Audio Player: Change it to
something else.

There is no guarantee whether this would work or not, though,
considering this bug only happened on my Mint 19.1 (with no such bug
beforehand. It just happened after a long time of not using it) and not
on my Ubuntu 18.04 despite both of them are using "ALSA" as their Audio
Player.

[Bug 1885463] [NEW] display and input freeze

2020-06-28 Thread Sarah Easton
Public bug reported:

Newly installed Ubuntu on a Lenovo laptop - less than 24 hours old. Just
now, I revived laptop from sleep or hibernate and the display was frozen
and corrupted. The bottom 1/3 of display was a patchwork of small
squares of junk in green, pink, blue; top 2/3 of screen was a slightly
distorted version of the default orange/purple background and the clock.
I couldn't interact with the computer with mouse or keyboard - no mouse
pointer, no control-alt-delete, no control-backspace. I found alt-PrtSc-
reisub on google and was able to reboot from the keyboard. I'm running
18.04.4 LTS, on 2017ish Lenovo E450 with AMD Carrizo graphics card

[Bug 1880428] [NEW] Baloo Deadlocks System on Startup

2020-05-24 Thread Sarah Szabo
Public bug reported:

Similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1837964 when starting the
comptuer baloo uses high CPU usage (according to top) and then within 3
minutes deadlocks the system. The only way out of it taht I've seen is
to use the ASPCI shutdown (reboot button held)

Unlike the linked post, this is on 20.04LTS and doesn't destroy the
desktop. Using balooctl disable removes the problem, but disables the
search and forces a re-build, which is somewhat inconvenient.

I can provide more information upon request :)

[Bug 1841449] [NEW] kwallet5 Crashes On Trying to Open

2019-08-26 Thread Sarah Szabo
Public bug reported:

I'm running Kubuntu 19.04 (No backports or anything), just vanilla.

Kde wallet started asking me for passwords recently for seemingly no
reason, and doesn't really function anymore (Everything asks me for
passwords now).

When I try and open it, it crashes saying "kwalletd5 has closed
unexpectedly" Purging kdewallet* and reinstalling didn't fix the issue
(Autoclean and autoremove were run), no luck there.

Here is the backtrace:

[Bug 1837964] [NEW] baloo causes a 100% CPU issue on my system, the only resolution to it is to do balooctl disable and reboot

2019-07-25 Thread Sarah Szabo
Public bug reported:

The system deadlocks after the login screen and the only way to get it
back it so REISUB.

Doing this however, restores the deafult desktop and removes my previous
toolbars.

The only solution to this is to restore the .config folder from a
backup.

The baloo issue only occurs after a random period of time upon restoration.

Sometimes it happens after two weeks, sometimes it happens right after
the new kernel update. I don't know what's wrong with it. The only
guarantee is that it happens.

[Bug 1830473] Re: Does not handle glyphless fonts, as used by tesseract

2019-05-25 Thread sarah norton
What is Norco, and can you buy Norco online?
When you decide to buy Norco online or look for ways to buy Norco online
overnight, you must know everything about the drug before buying it from an
online pharmacy and starting its intake. Norco is a prescription drug
prescribed for the treatment of the pain that requires an opioid medication and
cannot be treated by any other pain medication. The drug contains Hydrocodone
as one of its main components, and, therefore, it is considered a Schedule II
controlled substance. You should also remember if you take the drug in a larger
quantity or take it beyond the prescribed limit, the drug will make a patient
dependent on it for a long time.

Yes, it does.

Out of curiosity, how do you think this was missed originally? It's in

[Bug 1789131] Re: Probable regression with EXT3 file systems and CVE-2018-1093 patches

2018-08-26 Thread Sarah Newman
I believe a command sequence like this can be used to reliably reproduce
the issue:

umount /mnt
truncate -s128m /tmp/test.img
cmd="/sbin/mkfs.ext3 -E stride=128,stripe_width=512 -F /tmp/test.img"
echo $cmd > /dev/kmsg
$cmd
mount -o loop /tmp/test.img /mnt/
while dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/$RANDOM bs=1M count=1; do true; done

I do not see any failures when ext4 is replaced for ext3 above.

[Bug 1789131] Re: Probable regression with EXT3 file systems and CVE-2018-1093 patches

2018-08-26 Thread Sarah Newman
I confirmed that adding "-E stride=128,stripe_width=512" to the call to
mkfs results gets the following errors almost immediately at boot with
3.13.0-157.207:

[5.680480] EXT4-fs error (device xvda1): ext4_validate_block_bitmap:376:
comm mountall: bg 213: block 7007360: invalid block bitmap
[5.681182] Aborting journal on device xvda1-8.
[5.681827] EXT4-fs (xvda1): Remounting filesystem read-only
[5.681850] EXT4-fs error (device xvda1) in ext4_free_blocks:4876: IO failure
[5.682538] EXT4-fs error (device xvda1) in ext4_reserve_inode_write:4967:
Journal has aborted
[5.683254] EXT4-fs error (device xvda1) in ext4_orphan_del:2682: Journal
has aborted
[5.683883] EXT4-fs error (device xvda1) in ext4_reserve_inode_write:4967:
Journal has aborted

And that this does not happen without stride=128,stripe_width=512 and
that is not present in 3.13.0-156.206.

It does *not* happen with ext4 and "-E stride=128,stripe_width=512" being set.

I noticed the unusual thing here is:

RAID stride: 128
RAID stripe width: 512

I'm going to do some testing around this to see if it's related. It
could be this is the issue and not anything EXT3 vs. EXT4.

We can also confirm that it does reconnect after toggling airplane mode
on and off but still not connecting after suspend/sleep.

[Bug 1767292] Re: The bluetooth mouse cannot connect after sleep mode.

2018-05-30 Thread Sarah
We have tested this thoroughly at our office and found that it will
reconnect immediately after a reboot but will not on suspend/sleep. This
appears to be new when updating to 18.04 LTS.

[Bug 1748839] Re: Problem to connect to WPA2/PEAP WIFI - gnome-shell

2018-05-22 Thread Sarah Peck
This affects me as well. I consider this a security issue because the
enterprise I'm connecting to only offers this encryption or no
encryption, so until this is fixed, my network traffic is unencrypted.
And that's sad.

[Bug 1745510] Re: KDE Loses Sound Devices/Audio

2018-01-26 Thread Sarah Szabo
** Also affects: plasma-pa (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Description changed:

  Brief Version: https://askubuntu.com/questions/995281/audio-devices-
  disappear

TL;DR: My version of Kubuntu keeps losing audio devices/audio and cannot
recover, including after reinstalling pavucontrol, alsa, etc. I can't
figure out how to get this to stop, and is a certain... and very
persistant bug. I've tried multiple uninstalls, and reinstalls, and
occasionally, one day after restarting the system, the audio bug is
present and never goes away again. All attempts to raise volume don't
work that I've tried. The askubuntu page has more detail, including my
  hardware specs.

I should also add that the bluetooth connector also has audio problems
and appears to be broken as well.

+ After recommendation of a person on Kubuntu forums, I have found a
+ temporary fix. Running:
+
+ sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base pulseaudio
+ sudo apt-get install alsa-base pulseaudio pulseaudio-module-bluetooth*
+ sudo alsa force-reload
+
+ Seems to work 100% of the time, however, the bug always re-appears.
+ Naturally, this is rather inconvenient, and requires connection to the
+ internet.
+
+ By process of elimination, I have ruled that installing plasma-pa*
+ always causes the bug. Every time plasma-pa* is installed, the bug
+ appears. When it is uninstalled and sudo alsa force-reload is run, sound
+ is always restored. Attempting the reload while plasma-pa* is installed
+ always fails to restore sound.
+
I can provide stats/logfiles/proof upon demand, just tell me what to do.

[Bug 1711995] [NEW] X crash on loading libglamoregl.so

2017-08-20 Thread Sarah Newman
Public bug reported:

With 2:1.18.4-ubuntu0.3, it was necessary to use dpkg-divert --rename to
move the libglamoregl.so library so it wasn't loaded automatically or X
would crash with an empty backtrace. This is in Virtualbox 5 on an
I7-4712MQ CPU with 3D acceleration enabled.

2:1.18.3-1ubuntu2 apparently did not have the same issue as I was able
to boot the VM after first install.

I would be willing to try gathering more data if someone can tell me
what would be useful debug output.

[Bug 1626564] Re: 4.8 regression: SLAB is being used instead of SLUB

2016-10-27 Thread Sarah Newman
Also: the 524 threads was with Xen PVM and two VCPUS. With one VCPU the
problem goes away. The run on 4.8.0-22-generic also had two VCPUs.

There is no problem with Xen HVM and 4.8.0-26-generic with either one or
two VCPUS.

[Bug 1626564] Re: 4.8 regression: SLAB is being used instead of SLUB

2016-10-27 Thread Sarah Newman
Are you sure SLAB vs. SLUB fixed this?

I have images built from October 13 and today (October 22) with
4.8.0-22-generic and 4.8.0-26-generic respectively. On a
4.8.0-22-generic boot there are 37 kworker threads, on 4.8.0-26-generic
there are 524 kworker threads. It could be that with enough reboots the
older version would spawn as many threads, I'm not sure.

[Bug 1633634] Re: sr-iov not working on ubuntu 16.04 kvm

2016-10-26 Thread Sarah Coxon
Kernel 4.5-wily => same result as 4.4.0-42 and 4.4.25 for both vfio and
kvm

Kernel 4.6-yakkety => same result as 4.7 for vfio (as I said earlier vm
starts but with no networking and logs of errors in logs) and same as
4.5-wily for kvm

Kernel 4.7 => same as 4.6-yakkety for both vfio and kvm

Kernel 4.8-rc1 => fails to boot with "Loading initial ramdisk..."

So kernel 4.8.4 and 4.9-rc1 both worked with the kvm option but none of
the others. (4.8-rc1 unknown)

also no video output from the host though all the VM's continued to run

I also tried kernel 4.7 (only with vfio as you replied before I went any
further) and the virtual machine started but with no networking and the
logs filled with messages

These messages were repeated constantly until I shut the VM down.

Should I just use the 4.9-rc1 kernel for now, is there a downside to
that?

[Bug 1633634] [NEW] sr-iov not working on ubuntu 16.04 kvm

2016-10-14 Thread Sarah Coxon
Public bug reported:

The exact same set up (hardware and commands I have made) worked
perfectly on Ubuntu 14.04 but I can't get it working with 16.04. The
only thing I have changed between the 2 setups is adding to the network definition as the now default vfio also
failed with

qemu-system-x86_64: vfio_dma_map(0x55f1c4f8bb00, 0xfe00, 0x4000,

qemu: hardware error: vfio: DMA mapping failed, unable to continue

[Bug 894272] Re: ipv6 broken for bridge

2013-11-27 Thread Sarah Newman
Hi,

I am using 12.04 and that particular sequence appears to be expected
behavior due to duplicate address detection in ipv6 leading to the ipv6
address being tentative. I see similar behavior on an ethernet port
which has never physically been connected to anything.

Before attaching anything to the bridge, it has NO-CARRIER and tentative
ipv6 address, ping does not work:

$ ip addr show br0
26: br0: NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state DOWN
link/ether 00:16:3e:ff:00:01 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
inet6 2605:2700:0:18::1/64 scope global tentative
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

After attaching something which is itself up:
$ ip addr show br0
26: br0: BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UP
link/ether 00:16:3e:ff:00:01 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
inet6 2605:2700:0:18::1/64 scope global
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet6 fe80::216:3eff:feff:1/64 scope link
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

ping works at this point.

Furthermore, after removing the interface, NO-CARRIER is back but the
address is still no longer tentative and is still pingable:

$ ip addr show br0
26: br0: NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state DOWN
link/ether 00:16:3e:ff:00:01 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
inet6 2605:2700:0:18::1/64 scope global
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet6 fe80::216:3eff:feff:1/64 scope link
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
$ ping6 -c1 2605:2700:0:18::1
PING 2605:2700:0:18::1(2605:2700:0:18::1) 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 2605:2700:0:18::1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.047 ms

With 3.5.0-43-generic, I set net.ipv6.conf.all.dad_transmits and
net.ipv6.conf.all.accept_dad to 0 and that doesn't cause the addresses
to no longer be tentative. It seems like redhat may have had a similar
bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=709271 but it is not
clear what they did to fix it. I have not yet tried more recent kernels
to see if the problem is fixed there.

[Bug 1177094] Re: transport endpoint not connected when using s3ql with metadata-upload-interval 0

2013-05-28 Thread Sarah Angelini
We are indeed using the PPA as the source of the S3QL package. Upon
installation of version 1.15, I encountered this error message:

SyntaxError: ('invalid syntax',
('/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/s3ql/mount.py', 251, 50, 'with
tempfile.NamedTemporaryFile() as tmp, \\\n'))

I suspect there's a typo, but I'm not clear on what needs fixing.

Thank you for your help!

[Bug 1177094] [NEW] transport endpoint not connected when using s3ql with metadata-upload-interval 0

2013-05-06 Thread Sarah Angelini
Public bug reported:

I've been unable to connect to our remote s3ql shares. The error transport
endpoint is not connected comes up when trying to ls or cd to the shares. The
issues seems to occur when the mount.s3ql command is called with the
--metadata-upload-interval flag set to 0. The shares mount properly and are
accessible when a number other than 0 is used with --metadata-upload-interval
(or if the flag is dropped entirely). The mount.s3ql command is apparently
failing silently, but I was able to get it to show some python errors when I
also used the --upstart flag. The errors are shown below:

root@server /mnt # mount.s3ql --upstart --metadata-upload-interval 0 $BUCKET

I'd like to be able to use the mount.s3ql command with the --metadata-
upload-interval 0 flag, if possible.

Our server is running Lucid 10.04.4 and the s3ql package is version
1.14-1~lucid1. Unfortunately, upgrading from Lucid isn't possible at
this time.

Thank you in advance.

[Bug 1142452] [NEW] rsync throws Invalid argument (22) errors when attempting to preserve ACLs on backup to S3QL drive

2013-03-03 Thread Sarah Angelini
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu: Lucid 10.04.4
Kernel: 3.0.0-31-server
rsync: 3.0.7-1ubuntu1.1
s3ql: 1.13.1-1~lucid2

Every night we make a backup to a remote s3ql share using rsync. In the
past few days this error started showing up in the logs for every single
file:

rsync: get_acl: sys_acl_get_file(.bashrc, ACL_TYPE_ACCESS): Invalid
argument (22)

We use the -A flag to maintain ACLs in the backup. Removing that flag
eliminates the error messages, but then we're not preserving the ACLs
anymore.

The full list of flags on rsync is: -aHAXx -i --delete-during --delete-
excluded --partial --exclude [a few dirs]

S3ql did update recently, but it was 4 days before this error started
showing up. The one thing of note is that the problem didn't appear
until after I'd rebooted the system to use the new kernel version.

[Bug 1037192] Re: NFS shares are mounted with wrong clientaddr or not at all

2012-08-16 Thread Sarah Angelini
Hi Steve. I'm working with Niko on the server mountall problem. You're
right that the 0.0.0.0 client address issue occurs because mountall is
able to mount our NFS shares before it should. Initially upon startup,
we run busybox's ipconfig (no tinc) and then rsync with the server to
get system updates. After that, ifconfig is used to bring the device
down and startup is to proceed as normal. It seems that some ip
information must be hanging around, though. The log is recorded in
mountall-.log

Adding an ip addr flush command prevents mountall from completing the
mount before tinc is up. Unfortunately, it also keeps our shares from
mounting at all. If while it's sitting there I issue a mount /opt
command, then mountall seems to jump back in and continue with mounting
/home. The log is mountall-flush.log and the lines at the end with +
in front are after I've manually mounted /opt.

Adding initctl emit -n net-device-up to our tinc scripts prompts
mountall-net.conf to send the SIGUSR1 signal. The logs show mount
commands and the SIGUSR1 signal, but the network shares still don't come
up unless I manually mount one. The log is mountall-net-device.log and
the + lines are after the manual mount.

What I have gotten to work is a bit of a hack. Instead of depending on
net-device-up, tinc sends out a custom signal (vpn-node-up), which
mountall-net.conf is modified to listen for instead. I think the net-device-up
signal is sent when the ethernet itself comes up, but before tinc is fully
initialized. With the vpn-node-up signal, mountall-net only runs after tinc is
up. The log for this is in mountall-hack.log. I would prefer to use the
net-device-up signal properly if possible.

Please let me know what further information would be helpful.

[Bug 1003722] [NEW] Wiki typo could be confusing to new users

2012-05-23 Thread Sarah Van der Veken
Public bug reported:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SwitchingToUbuntu/FromLinux/RedHatEnterpriseLinuxAndFedora

In the table headed Adding, Removing and Upgrading Packages, Upgrade
packages is listed as apt-get dist-upgrade, where I believe it should
be apt-get upgrade. This could cause new users to inadvertently
upgrade their distribution when they only meant to complete a package
upgrade.

I would have edited the page myself, but I do not appear to be able to
do so.

Thank you in advance.

Sarah

[Bug 912589] Re: pytz should be dropped for dateutil as soon as epsilon is dropped for dateutil

2012-02-04 Thread David-Sarah Hopwood
Thanks for these changes, they will simplify dependency issues for the
S3 backend of Tahoe-LAFS. dateutil is a good choice -- simple and well-
tested. (It's unfortunate that its Python 3 variant is a higher version
number for the same package rather than a different package, but that
can be worked around.)

[Bug 897362] [NEW] Can't print, no print service found

2011-11-28 Thread Sarah Sharp
Public bug reported:

I'm using the icedtea-plugin package to use a java applet for filing
expense reports. Whenever I go to print the summary page that I have to
attach to my receipts, a box with the error message no print service
found pops up. I have cups installed, and I can print in other
programs. I've also tried installing obscure cups packages like cups-
bsd and libcups2-dev. The java applet worked under 11.04 with the
official java sun plugins, but ubuntu 11.10 does not include those
packages.

[Bug 418242] Re: Incorrect call to output plugins (with persistent error message) on copy

2011-11-14 Thread David-Sarah Hopwood
I'm not using xfce or any of the download or clipboard managers
mentioned, but I see the same traceback as comment #21 when copying.
This is with a file created by Inkscape on Windows, with text objects
using fonts that are not available on Ubuntu -- similar to the original
report in the bug description.

Are we sure there is not more than one bug here with similar symptoms?

[Bug 811721] Re: update pycryptopp to version 0.5.29-1 in natty

2011-11-02 Thread David-Sarah Hopwood
'tahoe debug trial' is indeed the correct way to run the tests for the
installed version.
The following failure:

twisted.trial.unittest.FailTest: We seem to be testing the code at
'/usr/lib/pymodules',
(according to the source filename
'/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/allmydata/__init__.pyc'),
but expected to be testing the code at '/home/eutopia'.
Please run the tests from the root of the Tahoe-LAFS distribution.

is an upstream bug and can be ignored in this particular case.

[Bug 427029] Re: E: Could not get lock /var/cache/apt/archives/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock the download directory

2011-10-30 Thread David-Sarah Hopwood
Is it considered acceptable that doing anything involving package
management can fail due to bad luck? Perhaps the dist-upgrade should be
holding the lock for a much shorter time, and/or perhaps the error
message could say what the actual problem is (for example by identifying
the process holding the lock).

[Bug 134944] Re: Keyboard locks up randomly while typing

2011-09-19 Thread David-Sarah Hopwood
I often have to type my letters twice as the characters are not being
registered. Typing slowly makes the process a bit manageable.

That doesn't really sound like the same bug. The other reports here are
of the keyboard becoming completely unresponsive. (I've had that symptom
since my last report above, although I forgot to check the interrupts.)

[Bug 842278] Re: Cannot save online sync preferences in Tomboy on Ubuntu 11.10 beta 1

2011-09-15 Thread Sarah Mount
There is an obvious work-around for this, which is to follow the
instructions for 10.10 and sync via Tomboy Web to the URL
https://one.ubuntu.com/notes/

Unfortunately, that also doesn't work and after connecting with U1 the
preferences aren't saved.

This was also reported in Bug #846888:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tomboy/+bug/846888

[Bug 665580] Re: apt-get automatically starts and uses 100% CPU forever after each boot

2011-08-25 Thread David-Sarah Hopwood
This was a critical performance regression in 10.10, and certainly
should be fixed there.

[Bug 815397] Re: Sync tahoe-lafs 1.8.2-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-08-25 Thread David-Sarah Hopwood
If I understand correctly, this has only been fixed in Oneiric. It is
also broken in Natty.
