In systemd-timesyncd ntp.ubuntu.com is used as fall back ntp server.
However, one of the addresses it resolves to is not available for quite
some while:

Any workaround? This is almost a showstopper if not.

I gave my mother her first linux laptop. First thing she complained
about was the ugly, non-replacable background in solitaire (aisleriot).

explicitly enabled in /etc/default/nfs-common. The corresponding systemd
service appears as masked and its file

It's funny. The same problem exists on Mac OS X Tiger: ypbind starts
before the system received an IP from DHCP. Now Ubuntu joins the crowd.
I put the following in /etc/network/interfaces:

It all went smooth except that after rebooting the kernel wouldn't mount my
ext3 root filesystem. I found out that kernel 2.6.20 wasn't installed after the
