[Bug 1724307] Re: Mouse cursor flickers when using external DisplayLink monitor
1) The DVI connection doesn't work at all. This is through HDMI. 2) No. This only occurs if an external monitor is attached through the Wavlink. 3) Yes, that's correct. 4) Seems like animations/overlays or typing inside a Chrome window causes the mouse pointer to flicker more aggressively than not. If there is _no_ interaction or animation, the mouse pointer remains static and drawn. 5) No; the external monitor never has the mouse pointer vanishing entirely. That only happens on the internal monitor. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724307 Title: Mouse cursor flickers when using external DisplayLink monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1724307/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: This may be a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1278223. [Bug 1380218] [NEW] Backport xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.8.1 to 14.04 LTS

[Bug 940050] [NEW] software raid doesn't assemble before mount on boot
Public bug reported: I've configured a Software RAID5 using three hard drives and mdadm. The RAID works, I can access the data, however for some reason it does not "assemble" on boot, and the automount subsequently fails with and error message offering me to Ignore or Skip the mounting process. Turns out that after booting, the device /dev/md0 does not exist on my system. I've configured /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf (attached), ran "mdadm -As /dev/md0" as suggested by various guides around the web and added raid456 to /etc/modules in the hopes that this would somehow make it work but to no avail. In my /etc/fstab I'm not refering to the RAID as /dev/md0, but instead use the UUID of md0. My workaround currently is this: Once I login, I can issue # mdadm --assemble --scan and it creates my /dev/md0 which is then accessible and works without a problem. ** Affects: mdadm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: automount mdadm raid software -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/940050 Title: software raid doesn't assemble before mount on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mdadm/+bug/940050/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 630537] [NEW] USB 3.0 External Hard Disk I/O Errors
Public bug reported: The external HD is in an enclosure that connects using a PC Card providing USB 3.0 to my laptop. I can connect to the drive using USB 2.0 successfully without a problem. The drive is formatted (FAT) and encrypted using the encryption option when I formatted the drive. >From the lspci command it looks like the module xhci is used to address this device. When I copy files to the hard disk, it will start to copy but after a while fail with I/O errors. I do not have another USB 3.0 port that I could test this with, so I do not know whether it is the PC Card or a USB 3.0 driver issue. [Bug 15495] Re: "Archive Manager" doesn't mean anything if you don't know what an "archive" is
A compressed file archive isn't really an archive at all. I put things into an archive that I don't want to see on my desk anymore, but might need it again in the future. Really, when talking about an archive, you're talking about it because we used to only be using tar (T ape AR chive ).[*] A zip file obviously doesn't work because we are creating a myriad of archives here, possibly tar.gz, tar.bz2, .rar, .7z, etc. While having no clear answer, possible candidates that describe better what is happening here, could be: - aggregate - collect - combine when looking for terminology in terms of an "archive", how about: instead of "add to..." - "aggregate in file" - "create collection" - "combine to single compressed file" => popup "choose format" dropdown with zip, tar.gz, etc. Just putting some thoughts out there from a pure English point of view. [Bug 260251] Re: bttv driver dies with VIDIOC_DQBUF error
Found that my bttv driver shared an IRQ with my network card. So I disabled the network (modprobe -r b44), and voila - no real buffer problems with my capture card anymore. It does not seem stable, but it is generally working. Could it be the motherboard? If someone could point me to a resource where I can learn how to direct either my ethernet or my bttv to a different IRQ, I would be eternally grateful (modinfo gave ambiguous results). Thanks for the links I will take a look at them anyway. You're saying that GStreamer has a "easy to use" interface to access V4L devices also? [Bug 260251] Re: bttv driver dies with VIDIOC_DQBUF error
I've been trying with - OpenCV 1.0.0 from source - OpenCV 1.1.0pre1 from source - OpenCV SVN (current as of today) - of course the packages included in Jaunty NOTHING seems to work. I've applied the patch attached to this bug report, and I am getting the infinite loop condition that David mentioned. After a year has gone by, will the V4L driver be updated to properly handle buffer I/O so that third party libraries won't have to do that? It seems to be a kernel issue and the frustrating thing is - I've tried it with Debian Etch (i.e. Kernel 2.6.18) and that works just fine. Could someone with more insight in V4L look at the differences between the versions? [Bug 256864] [NEW] kernel dumps core after usb keyboard freeze
Public bug reported: I am putting this on the image package, although I have no proof that this is actually the culprit. After a short while of using the system (time ranges between 10-30 minutes), my keyboard is freezing, although my mouse is working fine. I am using a Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop with an external usb keyboard and external mouse (the latter belonging to a bundle called Logitech S 510) At this point, I can use the system fine, however I am not able to type in anything, either using the usb keyboard or the built-in keyboard. This behavior only happens when the usb keyboard is plugged in. If I click on the upper right corner and try to restart the computer, a kernel dump is displayed along with a segmentation fault message, although, since I cannot use my keyboard or anything at that point, I don't actually know whether it is the kernel that is crashing. Since my system stops responding to anything at this point, I thought it might be. [Bug 62896] Re: SATA drive won't burn CD or DVD
John, unfortunately, this didn't do it. I enabled the address translation and did everything else this guide suggested. I can, however, burn using Brasero (which in turn uses the libburn2 library), so I guess this might have something to do with cdrskin. -- SATA drive won't burn CD or DVD https://launchpad.net/bugs/62896 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
