After updating to xserver-xorg-xmir 2:1.15.0-1ubuntu6 on Feb 13th the
system reboots without problems. A whole set of mir packages went
through at the same time; don't know if Daniel's fix was included, but
something fixed my problem at least.

I tried downgrading to the previous versions of xserver-xorg-xmir and
xserver-xorg-core (2:1.15.0-1ubuntu2), but no help.
Then I removed ubuntu-desktop-xmir (and xserver-xorg-xmir) and all is
well again.

Thanks for asking. I don't believe the kernel is at fault here - more
likely something in the hardware got stuck and didn't return to normal
until the resume in Lucid. I can't see any other reason for an error
that shows up in ALL installs (6 or so on this machine at the moment)
and then magically

The machine recovers from suspend as expected using Lucid. I tried both
selecting Suspend from the close-down menu and typing the command "sudo
pm-suspend" in the terminal.

The same failure occurs with Precise (kernel 3.2.0-52) on this machine.
I cannot tell when this started - I don't use the suspend function
normally, and I only test it sporadically. I've been running this
machine with successive versions of Ubuntu for somewhere around a couple
of years, I believe.
OK - done that, with kernel 3.11-rc4. Same behaviour - suspend occurs,
but attempt to wake up leads to reboot.

Trying to edit a document (sent from Windows 7 to Ubuntu RR through
Skype!) using LibreOffice Writer, the saved document does not show the
edits if saved as .doc. If saved as .odt the edits appear. If the .odt
version is opened and "Saved As" a .doc no saved .doc is generated
I reported a related crash in bug#1069163. Checking today I find the
same behavior reported there; no mention of tupledealloc in the
stacktrace.
What is new is a stacktrace reported when I start emesene from a
terminal, which I didn't see before it crashed originally. Now it says:

Sorry about the grump. In fact the fixed package does restore the
trackpad functionality for me. The compiz-removal was because of an
incomplete update that was happening coincidentally. But I was trying to
deal with it in Synaptic, which doesn't work very well without a

Ah, that explains it. But how on earth did we end up with that level of
obscurity?
Seems to be an example of why it's sometimes difficult for regular users to
know which package to report bugs against.

notifier have to do with this bug? Is the code that counts "times
mounted since last fsck" the same as the code that checks for available

Unity-3d hangs when I log-in, either from initial boot or by logging-out
and trying to log-in again.
Unity-2d opens correctly if I choose that option on logging-in.
The desktop with Unity-3d shows correct background image and desktop
launcher icon
After several hours, including a suspend/resume, nm-applet continues to
run OK.
It looks as if the upgrade did need a restart to be effective, so now it
should be good.
I'll mark as invalid.

As far as I can see, it was last updated this morning, and I had not re-
started since then.
I've now restarted, and will let the system run for a few hours to see
if there is a failure.

network drops periodically, with loss of nm-applet icon in Unity top
bar. Restarting nm-applet by typing "nm-applet &" in terminal re-

With all due respect, the lack of integration of the Firefox menu bar
reported in bug #637827 is a separate problem, that exacerbates the
present bug by making it impossible to "find" the hidden menu by
minimi
Confirming this bug. Particularly annoying in Firefox because the menu
bar is not integrated, so minimizing the browser window does not reveal
the drop-down menu.

Yes, I can confirm this - nm-applet is using 60+MB of memory, steadily
increasing over the last 10 minutes from about 53MB.
Natty, with Unity running, all up-to-date 12/04/2010.
