[Bug 1871778] [NEW] do release upgrade to focal failed

2020-04-09 Thread Stevie Card
Public bug reported:

The only unusual apt sources added were google chrome and teamviewer,
neither of which seem to be causing the problem in the logs. I do have
both Gnome and XFCE desktops installed, perhaps there's a conflict here?

[Bug 153045] Re: Ubuntu 7.10: Mathematica and Matlab conflict with Compiz-fusion

2009-10-12 Thread Stevie
Hello

I am a total newbie and maybe my comment is stupid but I have the same problem.
when reading this thread I noticed the following: the problem occurs in
/matlab/sys/java/jre/glnxa64/jre1.6.0/lib/amd64/motif12/libmawt.so
It does so exactly the same with me, but when I looked at that path I saw that
in my case motif12 was called motif21
this is also the case with later java versions. When I changed the pathname it
didnt have the problem anymore however I got a new error (Segmentation fault)
and I have no idea what that means or how to solve it

2008-03-27 Thread Stevie
Hi Leann!

Okay I'm at home and went thru the wiki.
Most of the things I already tried before.
Nevertheless I tried all 4 steps and didn't succeed in getting
any sign of life of the FN+F8/F9 keys.
Also dmesg didn't output anything.

dmidecode gives me the following:

FUJITSU SIEMENS
Invalid entry length (0). DMI table is broken! Stop.
AMILO Xa 1526
Invalid entry length (0). DMI table is broken! Stop.
REFERENCE
Invalid entry length (0). DMI table is broken! Stop.

Hope this helps in some way :/

2008-02-07 Thread Stevie
well, i read on ubuntuforums.org that this issue seems solved in hardy.
i guess there wont be a fix for gutsy.

concerning the gdm login...
id rather wait a bit more on the complete boot process than after the gdm login.
that readahead thingy had some positive impact here.
before i had to wait a minute til i could work, now its 29 seconds.
honestly, 1 minute is anacceptable. not even windows takes that long.

[Bug 108343] Re: Radio Station stops between songs, displays Buffering but does nothing

2007-07-30 Thread Stevie Blunder
I had the same problem. The default Virgin Radio URL is not correct.

Try changing the location to http://85.159.184.42:80

I found the URL at http://www.shoutcast.com/directory/index.phtml and
downloaded the playlist

Good luck
And enjoy the music

[Bug 52350] Re: nsswitch.conf + ldap brakes cupsys printing

2007-07-18 Thread stevie
So I removed the printer config and restarted the cupsd however I still
get the following in /var/log/messages:

[Bug 52350] Re: nsswitch.conf + ldap brakes cupsys printing

2007-07-17 Thread stevie
Hi, I am seeing cupsd segfault as described above:

Jul 17 22:32:57 moose [736313.802274] cupsd[9830]: segfault at
 rip 0040bded rsp 7f8115c0 error 4

I could stop and start the cupsd process without any issue until adding
a printer into cups. At that point I got the segfault. I was trying to
get authentication working so had added cupsys to the shadow group and
modified the default cupsd.conf file to include the following

Location /admin/conf

  AuthType Basic
  Require user @SYSTEM
  .
/Location

However backing out these changes still makes cupsd.conf segfault and I
do not know how to remove the printer without being able to start the
cupsd process.

My /etc/nsswitch.conf file has no reference to ldap in it. Just compat.
