I compiled the mainline source that you can get from the freedesktop FTP server
(ftp://ftp.freedesktop.org/pub/mesa/). This is where the official Mesa website
(www.mesa3d.org) refers to for downloads.
For r300 you can ./configure the driver to use Gallium, so it will become r300g.

I'm using a 32 bit system.
I haven't used (nor generated) any .deb packages, just compiled from the
tarballs using autoconf, make and a compiler.

I've just compiled Linux 2.6.38 and Mesa 7.10.1 (with Gallium), and I can't
reproduce the bug anymore in any of the reported applications. It's gone with
these versions.
I'm so glad it worked for the first try!

I've added the 'nomodeset' parameter to the kernel.
Now plymouth starts with lower videomode, like 640x480, 256 colors, but maybe
this can be fixed with the 'videomode' kernel parameter.
The rendering problem has gone from Google Earth and Neverball, but is
still present in the Pinion

called Polyhedra (for instance) is just fine.
I don't see what are the differences in the applications (or opengl
contexts) causing the glitch, because it is obviously a driver bug.

I have the same problem with ATI Mobility X1250.
Some notices:
The problem appears always in Google Earth and Neverball, only after a
few mouse-clicks in Blender (but never with orthographic projection),
and never in Danger from the Deep for example.
