Genuine question. Does this mean that I shouldn't connect untrusted usb devices
to my computer because it can unilaterally decide to snoop my traffic? So far
my understanding has been that usb devices cannot run arbitrary programs and
are thus safe to connect, with the exception of
Sensible. If that were the case, a solution would rely in the capacity
of the network manager to detect that the new route does not work,(and
that the previous one did)
My naïve solution would be to ping a reliable server (I use 8.8.8.8) and
delete the new route if it timesout.

I may be experiencing a seemingly related issue, in that for some reason, the
.Xauthority file gets created with
-rw--- 1 root root permissions, which causes lightdm to flash the black
screen and then return to the login screen.
sudo chmod user:user .Xauthority
fixes the issue for me.
This bug is still present when doing 13.04 13.10. I had some non-ASCII
chars in comments (which were put by the upgrade scripts during the
12.10 13.04 upgrade, in spanish actualización). Removing those non-
ASCII char allowed me to do the upgrade without issues.

Same issue here. I have a desktop configuration, two screens side by
side. In the secondary screen, usually when I try to access the menu of
an app, I have to keep the left mouse button pressed. If I let it go,

KDM themes are installed but not saved in the usual
/usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes/
so they don't show up in the theme selection screen in system settings.
