[Bug 1543704] Re: Parted can't handle lack of space between logical partitions

2016-07-11 Thread Vdragon
Here's the details and reproducible steps on Parted mailinglist:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-parted/2016-07/msg1.html

Interestingly, while

Number StartEnd Size Type File system Flags
 1  1s   204799s  204799s  extended   lba
 6  3s   202751s  202749s  logical
 5  202752s  204799s  2048slogical

does lack of space between logical partitions Parted doesn't complain,
while after I fix the order of partitions using fdisk like this

Device StartEnd Sectors Size Id Type
1   1 204799  204799  100M  f W95 Ext'd (LBA)
5   3 202751  202749   99M 83 Linux
6  202752 20479920481M 83 Linux

Parted starts to crash...

[Bug 1580482] Re: Virtualbox guest additions isn't working properly in Ubuntu 16.04

2016-05-11 Thread Vdragon
** Summary changed:

- virtualbox-guest-x11 isn't working properly in Ubuntu 16.04
+ Virtualbox guest additions isn't working properly in Ubuntu 16.04

** Description changed:

  ## Symptoms ##
  * OpenGL processing offloading is not supported(3D hardware acceleration is
enabled in VM settings and is available on Intel Graphics host)
  * VBoxClient warns about "Failed to connect to the ViratualBox kernel
service, rc=VERR_ACCESS_DENIED"(refer attached screenshot)

  You may checkout the screen record for what exactly this issue is about:
  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB1sb3D4Q9g

  ## Workarounds ##
  Install VirtualBox provided guest additions iso from the menu works

  ## Additional Information ##
  * I uses the VirtualBox from upstream on the host side, the version is 5.0.20
  * Note that the Ubuntu Kernel bundled with 16.04 has integrated VirtualBox
guest modules(vboxguest, vboxsf, and vboxvideo specifically) for unknown
reason, this bug is reproduced *without* the virtualbox-guest-dkms
package(since the Additional Drivers interface doesn't provide me the option to
do so(the option is greyed-out, refer attached screenshot))
+ * I have another 14.04 VM and it's OpenGL offloading works, so it's not
likely that the host isn't providing proper OpenGL functionallity

[Bug 1580482] Re: virtualbox-guest-x11 isn't working properly in Ubuntu 16.04

2016-05-11 Thread Vdragon
@LocutusOfBorg
I've tested the PPA, and here's the result:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmQt0VIpBuc

I still encountering the VERR_ACCESS_DENIED issue until I install the
previously not installed virtualbox-guest-dkms package, however the 3D
offloading problem still exist.

About the virtualbox-guest-dkms package, I'm not sure it is really
needed in 16.04 as xenial kernel already packs virtualbox's guest
modules(you can lsmod it even without installing the package)

[Bug 1580482] Re: virtualbox-guest-x11 isn't working properly in Ubuntu 16.04

2016-05-11 Thread Vdragon
@LocutusOfBorg, why should I try your ppa? It doesn't provide any
guest-side packages and there's even no xenial ones.

What have you change in your packages that may be related to this issue?

** Description changed:

  ## Symptoms ##
  * OpenGL processing offloading is not supported(3D hardware acceleration is
enabled in VM settings and is available on Intel Grphics host)
  * VBoxClient warns about "Failed to connect to the ViratualBox kernel
service, rc=VERR_ACCESS_DENIED"(refer attached screenshot)

Public bug reported:

As title, I believe it's because that the command missing --suffix
option.

Also the xz(1) manpage mentions that:

```
When writing scripts that need to decompress files, it is recommended to always
use the name xz with appropriate arguments (xz -d or xz -dc) instead of the
names unxz and xzcat.
```

We should follow the recommendation, but that's another bug

[Bug 1560797] Re: package systemd-sysv 225-1ubuntu9.1 failed to install/upgrade: libgcrypt20 was unconfigured

2016-04-09 Thread Vdragon
The system that I've used is based on my os distro project "Taiwan
Community Customized Unofficial Ubuntu Operating System" which is based
on Ubuntu trusty and is downloadable from https://github.com/Ubuntu-
Taiwan-Community/Ubuntu-TW-
Ubuntu/releases/tag/v0.3.0-release201510120351 , I've used this system
to sequentially upgraded to 15.10 and after that, 16.04.

I'm currently trying to repeat the same process on a VM and try to
reproduce the same issue. Let's try to fix this bug before the xenial
official release

[Bug 1373495] Re: sudo shouldn't preserve caller's HOME environment variable by default

2016-02-18 Thread Vdragon
** Description changed:

  Currently Ubuntu hard-coded sudo to preserve HOME environment variable
  to point to sudo caller's home directory by default(refer bug #760140)
  however this is dangerous and error-prone because the program run by
  root may write files (e.g. $HOME/.Xauthority , program config files)
  into caller's HOME directory **AS ROOT** which, will cause issue when
  users run the same program as their normal users' account again and even
  make the user failed to login(due to .Xauthority file owner is
  incorrect)

- In my opinion the Ubuntu patch(keep_home_by_default.patch) that make
- $HOME variable keep in sudo is INSANE and should be reverted(Ubuntu
- should use the safest configuration to general users by default), any
- user wish to run command as root using their HOME directory should set
- env_keep in /etc/sudoers themselves and acknowledging the consequences.

however it would be better if this is set default.

Why would anyone believe that kubuntu metapackages are enough? 0_o
kubuntu metapackage includes it's customizations that will change boot

we need kde metapackages without kubuntu customizations!

[Bug 1293246] Re: UnBatang font shows certain glyphs in bolder

2016-01-05 Thread Vdragon
Fontconfig will fallback to different font if the high priority one
didn't provide the glyphs requested.

Since the screenshot seems to be "different font" it is normal that the
appearance will not be the same, it is an expected result instead of a
font bug(however it may be a bug of the pre-installed fontconfig config
that making UnBatang font's priority higher than other more generic,
more appropriate fonts).

Setting as "Incomplete" as this package probably not related to the
issue.

** Changed in: fonts-unfonts-core (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1531126] [NEW] Usage of Private Use zone(0xE000 - 0xF8FF) in "UnDotum" font causes Font Awesome icons rendered wrongly in Mozilla Firefox

2016-01-05 Thread Vdragon
Public bug reported:

I found that Font Awesome icons on http://data.gov.tw is wrongly rendered on
Firefox but not in Chrome:
(Screenshot attatched)

According to the Font Awesome's page of one of the icons and some Google
research it seems that those characters are in 0xE000 - 0xF8FF : Private
Use.

I found out that it's UnDotum font that provides the glyph, is it really
necessary to assign glyphs in that area?

[Bug 1518578] [NEW] [packaging]update-notifier-cds uses `udisks` command but not depending on it

2015-11-21 Thread Vdragon
Public bug reported:

Hi, I'm random-browsing in my Upstart user session
logs(~/.cache/upstart) and found something interesting in update-
notifier-cds.log:

```
六 11月 21 09:00:49 CST 2015 CD found at /dev/sdd
/proc/self/fd/9: 5: /proc/self/fd/9: udisks: not found
CD mounted at
```

It seems that update-notifier-cds tries to call `udisks` command but it
fails due to Ubuntu Desktop isn't default installing that command.

### Solutions?
* It should be using the pre-installed `udisksctl` command to fetch Udisks info
instead, or
* it should at least depend on udisks package for `udisks` command.

[Bug 1504822] [NEW] [PACKAGING] Missing dependency of elementary-icon-theme, causing missing icons

icons in menu are missing, it's because that `elementary-xfce-dark` icon

xml/xsettings.xml` but not installed by `xfce4`'s dependencies.

[Bug 1072556] Re: Can not adduser with just number

2015-10-09 Thread Vdragon
And while I didn't meant that it's 100% impossible to create such
usernames, it is really not a good practice since programs distinguish
username from UID by the first character.

Therefore I'd like to make this bug `invalid`.

[Bug 1502706] Re: Nautilus failed to create $HOME/.config/nautilus when it is run as root when HOME=/root

2015-10-06 Thread Vdragon
@Sabastien
> nautilus (nor other gtk softwares) is not supposed to be used as superuser
* How do you manage file/directories as "superuser" without using a console?
* If Gtk-based file managers is not supposed to be used as superuser, why does
XFCE Thunar has a root mode[1]?
* If (nor other gtk softwares) is not supposed to be used as superuser, why
galternatives(software that manages the alternatives system), Gparted(software
that manages disk partition table and file systems), Synaptic(software that
manages APT package management system), Bleachbit(software that cleans up
useless files including system directories),... ever exist?
* If Nautilus shouldn't be run as superuser, why does [this
bug](https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1405441 ) ever exist and even
patched in upstream?

I'm appreciate for your triage, but this bug is in any perspective a
valid bug.
