[Bug 1972829] Re: 22.04 tomcat9 with openjdk8 JSP compilation error

2022-05-12 Thread Nyari Zoltan
Hi,

Thanks, the workaround was (I hope I remember correctly):
sudo apt install libecj-java
sudo ln -s /usr/share/java/ecj.jar /var/lib/tomcat9/lib
sudo systemctl restart tomcat9

If I may suggest, I think Ubuntu (and also Debian) should support
Tomcat9 running on OpenJDK 8, because it is still supported (as far as I
know, the end-of-life dates have not been announced yet). There are a
large number of internal/enterprise software which has not been ported
to Java 11.

Best regards,
Zoltan

[Bug 1972829] [NEW] 22.04 tomcat9 with openjdk8 JSP compilation error

2022-05-10 Thread Nyari Zoltan
Public bug reported:

Hi,

After a new Ubuntu 22.04 install, we have installed the openjdk8 and tomcat9
packages:
sudo apt install openjdk-8-jdk
sudo apt install tomcat9

After the install we have tested it by deploying the sample application,
from https://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-9.0-doc/appdev/sample/

The Sample contains a simple JSP page, which throws an error:
Message java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError:
org/eclipse/jdt/internal/compiler/env/INameEnvironment has been compiled by a
more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 55.0), this version
of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 52.0

This class is in the libeclipse-jdt-core-java package, which seems to be
compiled using Java 11 target settings.

Tomcat 9 is officially supported on JDK 8, so I think the libeclipse-
jdt-core-java package should also support Java 8.

Also we could find a workaround: installing the libecj-java package
(which supports Java 8) and creating a symlink in the tomcat9 lib
directory.

Thanks,
Zoltan

[Bug 1967290] [NEW] USB Kyb and Mouse hangs "Suspend" ?

2022-03-31 Thread Zoltan
Public bug reported:

Hi,
My email is: zolt...@geograph.co.za
My system is:
root@gs00:/home/geograph# uname -a
Linux gs00 5.15.0-23-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP Fri Mar 11 14:54:05 UTC 2022 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I update this beta sometime twice per day, and this problem persists.
I have 1 monitor with 2 inputs. One input is dedicated to my laptop and the
other to this jammy system.
I have separate USB Kyb/Mouse HW connected directly to each of these computers
(so they are never disconnected).
I have my power settings set to never logout/lockscreen etc. and I can leave
the system for long periods with no typing or mouse movements as long as I do
not switch the monitor input away from jammy.

If I switch the monitor over to get signal from the laptop and then some time
later switch it back to the jammy desktop, I find that the Kyb/Mouse connected
to jammy is non-active even though the Kyb & Mouse lights are on.
I have tried replugging the Kyb/Mouse.

I have to reboot the system to get control of its Kyb & Mouse.

I do get lots of these messages in syslog (so suspect a GDK problem).

Thanks and regards,
Zoltan.

[Bug 1941615] Re: fonts-fantasque-sans font displays numeric codes

2021-08-25 Thread Erik Zoltan
Actually, the font typeface itself looks OK in the "Fonts" application,
but it appears there are multiple copies of each version (e.g. multiple
copies of Fantasque Sans Mono, Regular). I'm attaching another
screenshot, because it looks pretty surprising.

[Bug 1941615] [NEW] fonts-fantasque-sans font displays numeric codes

2021-08-25 Thread Erik Zoltan
Public bug reported:

As shown in the attached screenshot, the fantasque sans mono font
displays hex codes in boxes rather than actual characters. In the photo,
I'm using gedit. The first line of text says "The quick brown fox jumps
over the lazy dog".

To produce this bug, I installed the font from the package repository
and tried to use the font on my system. In addition to gedit, the
problem occurs in Gnome Tweaks or anywhere else I try to look at the
font. I have a dual boot KDE and GNOME Kubuntu system, but I'm running
in GNOME only.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but got the same issue. The issue
affects all the fonts in the package, but none of the other fonts on my
system.

[Bug 1902522] [NEW] Scrambled pixels in blocks with lenovo dock gen 2 thunderbolt 3 DP 1.4

2020-11-02 Thread Fodor Zoltan
Public bug reported:

I am experiencing issues with rendering on 1440p@165hz in Ubuntu 20.04
with Lenovo Dock Gen 2 thunderbolt 3 40AN through DP 1.4. Depending on
what is rendered and mouse position the screen can get blocks of
scrambled purple pixels. These blocks are always horizontally half of
the screen either on the right or the left and they are variable in
height. Also the display sometimes flickers / disconnects. This
configuration works correctly on Windows 10.

Strange part is that this mostly happens during browsing websites,
especially when scrolling or typing / moving mouse in certain positions.
Using Intelij IDE it doesn't happen. Watching youtube fullscreen even 8K
at 60fps it works normally.

[Bug 1871964] [NEW] hwlatdetect in v1.0.3 is not compatible with 5.3 kernel

It seems the rt-tests project is not maintained. However the kernel
interfaces have changed, and the 5.3 kernel uses different semantics to

still works fine.

2019-01-06 Thread Zoltan Papp
I used my computer with "legacy boot" + gpt partitioning.

I added a second drive (an ssd to the hdd) and tried to install ubuntu
on the ssd. The installation failed (twice) at grub2.

The solution was to select "uefi boot" in bios and setting up an efi
partition. After that the installation went through without any errors.

[Bug 1729028] Re: gnome-shell crashes when monitor sleeps or is turned off

2018-11-09 Thread Zoltan Marcsek
Locking and sleeping is very buggy for me on a fresh 18.04. It rarely
works, other times gnome restarts, and I get in without a login prompt
(HUGE security issue), sometimes I can't log in after resume, or I can,
but my apps get closed (probably I get fully logged out). Gnome shell
also restart when I try to lock (with super+L), and the computer doesn't
get locked. Interestingly these bugs were not present on my previous
18.04 install on the very same laptop, and I didn't change a thing (same
installer, same programs The only difference is my SSD, but
I cannot find any errors on it).

It affects me too, on fresh Ubuntu 18.04 on Thinkpad X240. The two
finger scrolling works until suspend/resume, after that only the three-
finger one, but not without glitches. The modprobe command disables both
my touchpad and trackpoint.

[Bug 1424451] Re: Brightness setting unaffective when scanning with MFP M177fw

2018-09-09 Thread Zoltan Peller
Hello,

Currently I'm using Debian 9.5 and hplip 3.6.11. And although I've done
only a light check from simple-scan (tried different brightness settings
in gray mode), the behaviour looks the same, no difference in the
output, so the bug still exists.

But as I don't use the scanner too often, and not for professional
purposes, it's ok for me, if the bug is left unfixed. I use a small
script to apply a -0.3 gamma correction on the images after scanning,
and that gives me just good enough result for my purposes. xsane's auto
gamma correction also works fine.

Regards,
Zoltan

[Bug 1668829] Re: Performance regression from qemu 2.3 to 2.5 for vhost-user with ovs + dpdk

2017-03-31 Thread Zoltan Szeder
Further investigation revealed, that on Dec, 2016 this issue has been
solved in iPXE, so the iso image can be used as an alternative to the
host provided ipxe-qemu based network boot.

That means, that with the increased net-queue size, there is no need to
change the virtio network device model in order to use PXE booting.

[Bug 1668829] Re: Performance regression from qemu 2.3 to 2.5 for vhost-user with ovs + dpdk

2017-03-28 Thread Zoltan Szeder
Hi All,

I would like to mention (if it has not been already), that using the
patch provided by Rafael's first comment (
http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/24087865/ ) caused iPXE to fail in our test
environment with the following message:

Error: message queue 1024 > 256

It happens, when the guest is set to boot from network.

The test environment was an Ubuntu 14.04 virtual host server updated with
cloudarchive-mitaka PPA and a qemu-2.5 patched with the change mentioned in the
link.
The same was experienced with a plain Ubuntu 16.04 with the patched qemu
package.

Ubuntu 14.04:
qemu: 1:2.5+dfsg-5ubuntu10.9~cloud0
ipxe-qemu: 1.0.0+git-2013.c3d1e78-2ubuntu1

Ubuntu 16.04:
qemu: 1:2.5+dfsg-5ubuntu10.9
ipxe-qemu: 1.0.0+git-20150424.a25a16d-1ubuntu1

[Bug 1630872] [NEW] Clear text (x) does not clear the first suggested but not committed word

2016-10-06 Thread Zoltan Balogh
Public bug reported:

When the "Word suggestions" option in the "Language & Text" settings then the
(x) clear button does not clear the first not committed word from the text
input.
It seems that the suggested word is not yet in the text innut but only in the
input method and the clear button does not clear the input method.
After the first word is committed, the second suggestion is cleared if you
clear the content.

I was on Ubuntu 15.10 for a long time and I did not have any issues. A
week ago I updated to Ubuntu 16.04 and the dialog started appearing
every time I plug in the same earphones I was using for more than 2
years now. Very annoying.

[Bug 1618581] [NEW] The margin to swipe from top in QQuickFlickable is not enough

2016-08-30 Thread Zoltan Balogh
Public bug reported:

On krillin device many of the UITK autopilot tests fail with this
traceback:

ubuntuuitoolkit._custom_proxy_objects._common.ToolkitException: Could not swipe

In the _swipe_to_show_more() when the direction is 'above' the starting Y
should be in the flickable. The self.margin_to_swipe_from_top is set to
units.gu(1) what seems to be too little.

[Bug 1612293] Re: [1.9] eth0 tried to get a DHCP IP, no matter what

2016-08-24 Thread Zoltan Arnold Nagy
While I understand where you're coming from I think MAAS users shouldn't
really care *where* the bug is. It manifests itself in something that's
not in line with the MAAS config. If in MAAS I don't have eth0
configured then it should NOT be configured, no matter what.

The MAAS source images are produced by you guys, right? If so, you could
make sure that the images include a recent enough cloud-init as the
sister bug to this in cloud-init has been marked fixed for 0.7.7, while
the image only has 0.7.5 in there IIRC.

2016-08-24 Thread Zoltan Balogh
This is a valid case and an severe problem. But it is not a Developer
Experience bug. The SDK is following what the scope framework does.

The SDK will stop uninstalling the click packages once it is possible to
properly upgrade scopes and apparmor profile changes.

[Bug 1574779] Re: "RuntimeError: Wrong Nr of events" executing the app-launch-profiler

2016-05-13 Thread Zoltan Balogh
The blind guess is that the sleep time is too short.

The tool works in a way that it starts the app and expects the first
frame event. After the defined sleep time the app gets stoped. This
error happens when the first frame is not drawn before the app gets
closed. Try to use longer sleep. Like 10secs

[Bug 1561028] Re: Can't install armhf vivid schroot (qml-module-qtpurchasing:armhf unmet dependencies)

2016-03-24 Thread Zoltan Balogh
One side comment...

After I have discusses this issue with several people. This bug is not an SDK
bug, not even a click bug, even less a chroot or schroot bug. All these are
effected by the bug and the developers see this bug when they use these tools.

The bug is in the landing process of API packages to the Overlay PPA. It
is not the chroot what is broken, it is the Overlay PPA repository what
is broken.

[Bug 1551963] [NEW] wrong haswell cpu features in cpu_map.xml

2016-03-01 Thread Zoltan Arnold Nagy
Public bug reported:

for haswell, /usr/share/libvirt/cpu_map.xml lists the following:

"hle" and "rtm" has been pulled from haswell via microcode updates which
means that with the current map, libvirt will never identify Haswell
CPUs properly.

This will prevent OpenStack deployments from properly setting up their
VMs which will prevent live-migration.

Just for the record, these are the ones available on a E5-2630v3:
fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush
dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe syscall nx pdpe1gb rdtscp lm

** Affects: libvirt (Ubuntu)
