Kernel from http://people.ubuntu.com/~smb/bug326891/ solved my problem
with Intel LittleFalls (aka D945GCLF, BIOS
LF94510J.86A.0150.2009.0210.0006). Surprising fact is that no Ibex
kernel (starting from the one on pre-release version) worked here
properly - network card was

Same here, Hardy x64, started to happen today. System is up-to-date, NB
crashes with any of available JVMs (1.6.0_07 - ubuntu, 1.6.0_10/11).

and same issue with newest JDK (1.6.0_12) - it's probably somewhere
else;(
I might just have found it - it's probably caused by freenx libraries,
uninstaling them *helped*! I wasn't the only one surprisingly - see

NetBeans crashes in
Hi,
same here. I was installing -server edition on new Lenovo TD100 ThinkServer
machine. Originally I thought it was caused by RAID controller but obviously
the problem is somewhere else. From my experience it's not limited to case with
non-ext3 root partition. I had the same issue when I left
...and broken even in today's 2.6.27-9 (64bit);(

Aha! The problem is that my systems somehow fails to initialize the card
upon power-on. It start to work after consequent warm reboot. After
powering it on I have:
$ lspci -vv
01:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E PCI
Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev ff)
Sorry for my overexcitement, after doing the restart loop couple of
times over I'm back on 0x7f. Damn!

Same here - installed Hardy on Intel Little Falls today, network card is
recognized as different model (there's RTL8102EL written on the chip):
$ dmesg | grep eth0
eth0: RTL8169 at 0xc24e8000, 00:1c:c0:5e:6e:bf, XID 24a0 IRQ 2300
r8169: eth0: link up
eth0: no IPv6 routers present
$
I just updated BIOS to LF0099 version (from 2008/8/1) and it seem to fix
the problem - let us know if it works for you too...
