[Bug 1313808] [NEW] More options required for 'Returning from blank screen'

2014-04-28 Thread bluenova
Public bug reported:

More options are needed for when the screen should be locked after
blanking.

At the moment the options are:

0 Seconds
30 Seconds
1 minute
2 minutes
3 minutes
5 minutes
10 minutes
30 minutes
1 hour

Smaller numbers should be available such as 5 seconds and 10 seconds so
that if a screen goes blank it can be woken straight away without
entering a password. 30 seconds is too long and poses a security risk.

Allowing the user to enter their own hours, minutes and seconds would be
ideal but if it must be a drop down list then 5 and 10 seconds should be
added.

[Bug 1080070] [NEW] Computer suspends on timeout but not manually

2012-11-17 Thread bluenova
Public bug reported:

I have my computer set to suspend after 30 mins inactivity. After this
time it suspends correctly.

If I manually request suspend using 'Suspend' from the session menu or
pm-suspend from the terminal the monitor and mouse lose power but the
keyboard, fans and probably other components remain active.

The computer can successfully resume from both scenarios.

It happens on login. Also it doesn't matter what you have rebooted from.
I can be in my 11.04 install then reboot to 12.04 and see my 11.04
desktop scrambled up on login for about 2 seconds whilst 12.04 desktop
loads.

It certainly seems to be some sort of buffering issue on the GPU.

If I've been on my 11.04 install and then reboot to my 12.04 install I
see remnants of the 11.04 when logging in on 12.04.

[Bug 148534] Re: User can shutdown machine even if others are logged in

2008-07-15 Thread bluenova
From what I understand it should function correctly once GDM has been
updated to the new version 2.21.

Re: [Bug 190579] Re: numlock does not stay enabled Hardy alpha4

2008-04-07 Thread bluenova
If this was a normal release I wouldn't be so worried, but for an LTS this
must be sorted.

[Bug 190579] Re: numlock does not stay enabled Hardy alpha4

2008-04-03 Thread bluenova
hmm, I guess it's back to the drawing board then. Seems that fix is only
working for some people. I hope this gets sorted before the final
release.

[Bug 190579] Re: numlock does not stay enabled Hardy alpha4

2008-04-02 Thread bluenova
The fix:

Quote Dave Murphy:

After upgrading to Hardy I noticed that my numeric keypad was no longer
working. Not a huge inconvenience, but when you’ve got one you like to be able
to use it don’t you?

This morning - after trying to use it again - I decided to have another
go at fixing it. A quick Google provided me with the solution:

   1. Go into the Keyboard Preferences (System Preferences Keyboard)
   2. Switch to the Mouse Keys tab
   3. Uncheck the box for Allow to control the pointer using the keyboard

Grammar excepted, a logical procedure but why (oh why) is it enabled by default?

[Bug 190579] Re: numlock does not stay enabled Hardy alpha4

2008-03-30 Thread bluenova
Same problem here, upon login numlock light is on, but numlock is really
off. It's then necessary to press numlock 3 times to get it to the
correct state of numlock light on and numlock really on. Unfortunately
the setting is not remembered upon logout.

This really needs to be fixed before the final release, having to tell
people they have to press numlock 3 times each time they log in will
just be embarrassing.

[Bug 148534] Re: User can shutdown machine even if others are logged in

2008-03-30 Thread bluenova
The new Authorizations (policykit-gnome) system in hardy should fix this
issue, but unfortunately it doesn't work. Setting Admin Authorization
required to reboot/shutdown has no effect, the user is still able to
reboot/shutdown.

** Changed in: policykit-gnome (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: fast-user-switch-applet = policykit-gnome

[Bug 69082] Re: Screen goes blank regardless

2007-01-10 Thread bluenova
Well it's not the screen saver as I have un-installed that. The power
management is set to never for both display and computer. So it's either
another problem or the power management is not working properly.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 67146 ***

Well this was reported almost a month and a half ago, and it's
importance is undecided, and nobody is assigned to it. I would think
something like this would be of high importance.

[Bug 69082] Screen goes blank regardless

2006-10-29 Thread bluenova
Public bug reported:

The screen goes blank regardless of whether 'Activate screen saver when
computer is idle' is selected, and does so after about 30 min regardless
of the time set on 'Regard the computer as idle after:'

When a full screen app is running the screen saver should not cut in at
all.

** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu)
