This is still a problem for me in Jaunty.
Additional things I've noted are that gnome does not display a suspend
option, and 'lshal' reports that 'power_management.can_suspend' is false
(which, I think, explains gnome not offering a suspend option). What

I tried your suggestions but the problem persists.
What I have found is that if I comment out the item.set_submenu(menu)
line (in this method and the next, because the "Open Recent Translation"
code has the same problem) the program no longer freezes. The "Open
Recent" menu no longer functions, of
