[Bug 1882934] Re: Segmentation fault when launching
Just got a chance to try this and yes it does work. Running Kubuntu 20.04.4, installed "libsdl2-dev libsdl2-ttf-dev libsdl2-image-dev" and used https://github.com/thp/numptyphysics/archive/refs/tags/0.3.9.tar.gz Complied and game opens and appears to play fine. [Bug 1788321] Re: swapon failed: invalid argument
Fixed my problem. While looking through /var/log/syslog, I noticed this line around the same time swap mount failed. BTRFS warning (device sda3): swapfile must not be copy-on-write Then a few lines later... systemd[1]: swap.img.swap: Failed with result 'exit-code'. systemd[1]: Failed to activate swap /swap.img. systemd[1]: Dependency failed for Swap. systemd[1]: swap.target: Job swap.target/start failed with result 'dependency'. Yes my root is on btrfs and I did not see this error before. So I deleted /swap.img and started over. $ sudo rm -rf /swap.img $ sudo touch /swap.img $ sudo chattr +C /swap.img $ sudo fallocate -l 2G /swap.img $ sudo chmod 600 /swap.img $ sudo mkswap /swap.img $ sudo swapon /swap.img No error and "swapon --show" gives this: NAME TYPE SIZE USED PRIO /swap.img file 2G 0B -2 Just what I was expecting. [Bug 1168115] Re: Ubiquity does not support LUKS in manual partitioning mode
Still a problem in 19.04. Made a /boot and / but / was on top of an encrypted LUKS partition. One time, the system installed but never asked for a password on boot. So I tried again and it wouldn't even install. IF this actually works, it's very fragile and I've yet to see it work. On top of that, even if you don't use your own premade LUKS partition and try using the one in the GUI installer, it never asks for a password or options. So it never gathers enough data to even have a chance of success. And honestly, saying "There is not enough information here to understand or reproduce the problem." ... did you try? Because it's pretty simple to do so and see the gaping holes where it doesn't even come close to working. I appreciate you want more info, but at some point you have to try it yourself and I think if you give it any effort you'd see multiple issues. My guess is that no one has even tested it internally yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1168115 Title: Ubiquity does not support LUKS in manual partitioning mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1168115/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1742867] Re: Screen blank, audio choppy, system locked
I tried 4.15 rc8, same result. Went back one rev from my GRUB to 4.13.0-21 and saw the same result. Looking at the dmesg and syslog output, there were a lot of references to the video system. Grabbed another video card, slightly older and put that in. The fan on the one that came out didn't feel like it was spinning as freely as I would assume. Card may have simply been overheating when playing YouTube. New card has almost 1 hour of YouTube playback now with no problems on 4.13.0-25. Odd that this issue happened right with the reboot to the newer kernel, but if that's all it was then job done. I used "ubuntu-bug" to gather this info. I see it set "ExtraDebuggingInterest: I just need to know a workaround" but that's not what I selected when it asked. I chose the option that was something like "Yes, but not if too technical". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1742867 Title: Screen blank, audio choppy, system locked To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1742867/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1742867] [NEW] Screen blank, audio choppy, system locked
Public bug reported: While watching a YouTube video, screen went blank. Audio cut out, after a few seconds the audio started playing normally for a few more seconds then kept repeating the last half a second of audio for a few more seconds. Then it stopped and nothing responded. It did this a few times over the course of an hour. Had to power off the PC to get a reboot. Last time it did this I ssh'd from another PC to get dmesg and syslog info as it happened. Attaching those captures. clickwir@mach:~$ uname -a Linux mach 4.13.0-25-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 8 21:14:41 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux clickwir@mach:~$ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. [Bug 1723839] [NEW] Menus for windows aren't with the window
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 17.10, just upgraded today. Noticed that several of the windows that open don't have menus. Well, they do but it's far away in some other land. Archive Manager, for example, has no File Menu. No menus at all. Yet up in the top of the screen bar, in a very not useful place, is a menu for Archive Manager. This is confusing at best because at first glance you may think there are no options. No menu, nothing to do. Makes the program seem less useful if half the functions it can do are off somewhere else on the screen, disconnected from the main window itself. Gnome Terminal, has an option to always show the menu bar. Great, except that it goes UNDER where it should go. It creates a whole new line under the title bar for just the menu. Huge waste of space, and unless you turn it on, you can't find all the things the program can even do. [Bug 1723835] [NEW] Dock - Clicking icon doesn't minimize
Public bug reported: I have open Firefox, it is maximized. Clicking on it's icon in the Dock does nothing, I expect it would minimize Firefox. Unity, KDE and Windows behave in this manor. Window doesn't have to be maximized to show this behavior, clicking the icon in the Dock will bring up a selection popup if there are multiple instances of that application open, but if there is only one it does nothing. Tested with Gnome Terminal, Firefox, Chromium, Files, VLC, Terminator, all behave the same. [Bug 1723831] [NEW] Alt+Tab doesn't work for same application with multiple windows
Public bug reported: I open 2 File manager windows and also have other windows open. From the side dock, I can switch between the 2 File manager windows. But Alt+Tab doesn't swap back and forth like expected, it picks some other open application and brings that to the front. Tested this with Gnome Terminal and get the same result. Have open 2 terminals and a Firefox browser. I'd think Alt+Tab would switch between them if they were both the current and last used window, but no, Firefox comes to the front. [Bug 1632415] Re: package gconf2 3.2.6-3ubuntu7 failed to install/upgrade: dependency problems - leaving triggers unprocessed
Was going through the regular GUI upgrade process from 16.04, message kept coming up dozens of times. After clicking CLOSE on about the 20th one, I just held ENTER until they went away. Upgrade continued, gave a message at the end that something didn't install right and my system might be unstable. [Bug 1468202] Re: mtr has high CPU use when paused
Additional: I removed mtr-tiny and installed mtr. Running mtr opens a GUI window and that can be paused and unpaused without affecting the CPU use. However, adding the '-t' option to run in curses mode, will reproduce the high CPU use when paused. [Bug 1468202] [NEW] mtr has high CPU use when paused
Public bug reported: While running mtr, hitting 'P' to pause, causes CPU use to ramp up. Pressing 'space' to unpause, resumes normal function and CPU use. This consumes one (1) core at 100%. [Bug 1314787] Re: Memory leak
FWIW, I have Kubuntu 14.10 with an AMD 5770 video card. If i use the fglrx or fglrx-updates drivers, reboot, within 6 hours my 8GB RAM is used up and swap is thrashing. If i switch back to the xserver-xorg-video-ati driver, reboot, then apt- get --purge autoremove, then reboot again... memory use is fine. I've been on for about 6 hours now and use is just under 1GB according to ksysguard. [Bug 1320556] Re: "Show copy dialog" right click launcher entry doesn't work
Same boat here. Ubuntu 14.04 64bit. FIle 3.10.1. Was in the middle of copying files from a cd to the server (via SMB), used Alt+Tab to switch to a Remmina RDP session. Kind of switched back and forth too quickly and then had to Alt+Tab again till I got my RDP session to the forefront. When I went back to clicking on the files (icon on the left panel, still shows the file copy progress bar), I only get the folder view. No dialog box with the copy. Also, the copy is very very slow. I was able to copy the next 4 CD's from a Win7 box before mine finished. Right clicking on Files and then clicking on "Show copy dialog" does nothing. No error, no visiual indication of anything. [Bug 1272291] Re: Corrupt mouse cursor when using multimonitors
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ubuntu ** Description changed: Seems like the same issue as here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- ati/+bug/360724 I have 2 screens, sometimes one of the screens will have the cursor corrupt. Usually looks like the cursor is sliced vertically in about 3-5 slices and put back together in the wrong order. Moving the cursor between screens causes it to change from being fine on one screen to corrupt on the other. Affects not just the arrow, but others as well, such as move, resize and text select. Using the default cursor theme, never changed it. Rebooting fixes it. Sometimes, very rarely (maybe 2 times over the past several years) it will fix on it's own. But those self fixes have only happened if I move the cursor between screens quickly just after it happens, if it's left to be corrupt for a moment or more... it will stay that way until a reboot. Hard to say what causes it or when it happens. Maybe it's more likely to happen when moving a window between screens. [Bug 360724] Re: [RV515] Kubuntu: Corrupted mouse cursor after moving between screens
I'll chime in too. I've had this issue for several releases of Kubuntu, it's annoying and sometimes will just go away on it's own after moving back and forth between screens. Right now, any cursor (arrow, resize, move) on my right screen is perfect. But my left screen, the same ones, are sliced up and put together wrong. I didn't see anyone mention it, but sometimes instead of being sliced up and put back together wrong, I'll get a 1.5inch long, thin row of vertial triangles. That one is more rare. Both are fixed by rebooting. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Kinda looks like that, but they point to the left instead of up. Seems to be a theme here, I'm also using an AMD Radeon card. A 5770. Here's some more info. We wiped and reloaded with Ubuntu Server 12.04. Still get same install error. So we tried doing sudo apt-get -b source snort. [Bug 969138] [NEW] gwibber colors clash with font, can't read anything
Public bug reported: Just upgraded from Kubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 beta and Gwibber loaded fine. However, I can barely read anything in the window. The text is black, like normal, but the background the text is on is dark grey/gadiant black. Like this: http://imgur.com/6AW9J I've closed and reopened Gwibber. Rebooted. Checked the settings, but I dont see anything obvious that has anything to do with window colors. Everything else, system wise, seems fine. Running Kopete looks normal, Firefox is fine. [Bug 910982] [NEW] xfce4 overwrites ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel even chowned as root
Public bug reported: Pretty simple it seems. clickwir@ruger10-22:~/.local/share$ ls -lah recently-used.xbel -rw--- 1 clickwir clickwir 1.2K 2012-01-02 16:00 recently-used.xbel clickwir@ruger10-22:~/.local/share$ sudo chown root recently-used.xbel clickwir@ruger10-22:~/.local/share$ sudo chgrp root recently-used.xbel clickwir@ruger10-22:~/.local/share$ sudo chmod +rwrr recently-used.xbel clickwir@ruger10-22:~/.local/share$ ls -lah recently-used.xbel -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.2K 2012-01-02 16:00 recently-used.xbel I then happened to be using ClamTk to scan some Windows folders. I click the SCAN menu and then RECURSIVE SCAN, then select a directory. Magically... clickwir@ruger10-22:~/.local/share$ ls -lah recently-used.xbel -rw--- 1 clickwir clickwir 1.7K 2012-01-02 16:19 recently-used.xbel As you can see from the time stamp, it happened just now as I'm filling this out. Maybe I see it as obvious, but I don't think that a file that is owned by root and only writeable should be taken over by my user. I don't want recently-used.xbel. I don't ever want it to be populated, so I figured deleting it, touching it and chown/chgrp would prevent my user from taking it. I've done similar actions before with other files that were automatically handled by an application that I didn't want modified by my user, but readable. Maybe someone could shed some more light on why it's done this way (if it's supposed to be done like this) and if so, how I can get rid of that damn recently used file. lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 11.10 Release:11.10 I don't know which package or part of XFCE is responsible for handling this file. [Bug 669729] Re: pulseaudio[1641]: ratelimit.c: 22715 events suppressed
Ok, I don't know what's going on. It looks like it might have helped some flash videos. After not actually using flash for a few hours, I had left Firefox open after doing the LD_PRELOAD, I tried a few youtube videos. To my delight, they worked fine. So I put it to a further test and watched a 720p 15min video of Starcraft II. Worked fine. Feeling pumped, I tried another one. This one is also running at 720p and is from the same person who posted the other one. But this one, about half of it is normal speed and half is fast forward speed. I cannot watch this. I tried, but it's too choppy. Heh. I got pulled away from my PC for about 10 mins. Came back and tried the same video that was choppy before. Played fine now. So, this is an improvement... but still a problem. -- pulseaudio[1641]: ratelimit.c: 22715 events suppressed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669729 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 669729] Re: pulseaudio[1641]: ratelimit.c: 22715 events suppressed
Found this thread that sounded similar to my problem: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=638477 I tried what Linus said with the file, compiled it and did an LD_PRELOAD on VLC and Firefox. VLC got through most of one song and then stopped. Firefox, I wasn't able to watch any youtube videos. They just run in fast forward mode. Just to keep things going and let ya'll know I was trying some things. ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #638477 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=638477 -- pulseaudio[1641]: ratelimit.c: 22715 events suppressed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669729 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
