Re: [Bug 2058053] Re: Change sudo compile options from --with-all-insults to --with-pc-insults
I may have put 2+2 together and made 5 here then. Pulling strings from the library i could see one of the insults that i thought was only included inside the elseif statement for PC being set. I'll double check as i may have been looking at an old git revision, or perhaps there was a config option i overlooked for offensive vs tame insults which left it included in the library On Fri, 15 Mar 2024, 18:00 Marc Deslauriers, <2058...@bugs.launchpad.net> wrote: > I'm not sure I understand this bug, the --with-pc-insults option is > deprecated since 2017-09-18 as it is the default option. > > The noble package doesn't use --enable-offensive-insults. > > -- > You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug > report. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2058053 > > Title: > Change sudo compile options from --with-all-insults to --with-pc- > insults > > To manage notifications about this bug go to: > https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sudo/+bug/2058053/+subscriptions > > -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2058053 Title: Change sudo compile options from --with-all-insults to --with-pc- insults To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sudo/+bug/2058053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1123097] [NEW] Nouveau advertises HDMI audio capability over minidisplayport and mini dvi connectors
Public bug reported: After updating to Quantal (worked fine in Precise and previous revisions), My TV is being fooled into thinking that an audio signal is being carried from the HDMI input (not possible as using a DVI-HDMI cable). As a result, the TV looks for HDMI audio and ignores the analogue input TV analogue input making it impossible to get audio to the TV. I believe this relates to recent changes in nouveau. Using nouveau.hdmi_disable parameter fixes the audio issue but limits the resolution I can use. It seems some of this behaviour is addressed by EDID quirks (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=806091 , and https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1309291/) which allow for selectively disabling the HDMI audio component in nouveau. but I don't think they are implemented yet in Quantal kernel? [Bug 524281] Re: Tens of wakes per second in [kernel scheduler] Load balancing tick on Core 2 Duo even with only 1 core enabled
I am seeing similar results as Elias Julkunen with 2.6.26-rc7 kernel from mainline kernels. My system is an Acer 3820T-5246 with Core i3-350M (no GPU). Kernel scheduler Load balancing ticks have dropped from about 120-230 on 2.6.35.x to a range of about 11 to 28. Even with the added wakeups from kworker/0:0, /0:1, and Rescheduler interrupts, total system wakeups are down by a factor of 2 to 3. ACPI power estimates are also down from ~16W to ~12W with a similarly loaded system. Also seeing a side bonus in stability when switching multiple screen outputs, and input lag is still present but probably improved by 60% or so. So, all in all I recommend anyone worried about wakeups try 2.6.36 at your earliest convenience. -- Tens of wakes per second in [kernel scheduler] Load balancing tick on Core 2 Duo even with only 1 core enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524281 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I kind of have to agree with Myk with this in principle. It's still a problem for me as well. But with no syncing in Linux I switched to a Blackberry. The only reason I still used my Treo was that it synced in Linux, so it was either switch distros back to Fedora or dump the Treo. [Bug 352732] Re: [jaunty] Sound muted after boot
I was able to solve this issue on karmic beta via other means... I found a K50alsa-utils symlink to /etc/init.d/alsa-utils in /etc/rc0.d/ and /etc/rc6.d/ . Once I redirected those symlinks to an empty file, my sound settings are correctly restored throughout the boot and login process. Not sure how those rc*.d symlinks got created in my karmic install... isnt rc*.d a kde thing? If so, it was probably when I installed amarok14, amarok 2.2, or amarok-nightly and its dependencies. [Bug 288401] Re: iwl3945 driver doesn't see !US wireless channels on UK laptop [intrepid regression]
A kernel config option for cfg80211 has changed in one of the recent Jaunty alpha kernel or module releases which disabled the legacy options cfg80211 ieee80211_regdom=EU method. Now that the CRDA method is in place there is no way of passing the region to the module without a git version of wpa_supplicant or a recent iw which is not yet packaged for debian/ubuntu (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/321630) as far as I can tell. Compiling iw from http://wireless.kernel.org/download/iw/ works to set the parameter per session, but a way of setting this persistently or via the timezone and with actual ubuntu packages would be nice! So, that means there's still connection between our PCs, am I right? -- Samba doesn't display the shared stuffs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228061 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 228061] [NEW] Samba doesn't display the shared stuffs
Public bug reported: Looked at some previous bugs, but they are out-of-date so I think this problem is the new bug. Some sources of the bug : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4867618 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=786156 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4885560 I'm using Ubuntu 8.04, upgraded from Ubuntu 7.10, which I previously used. Well, simply put, in Ubuntu 7.10, you just need to open Nautilus, press Ctrl + L, type in smb://LAN IP then ALL the shared stuffs (files, folders...) will be displayed and ready, however, in Ubuntu 8.04, after typing in smb://LAN IP, all you get is nothing in Nautilus. What you have to do is to add the full name of the shared folder right after the LAN IP to make it look like smb://LAN IP/SharedFolder. What is annoying about this is, when you share a LAN with others, and you frequently need to access their remote PCs but you have to ask for the name/path of the shared files/folders in order to access. Please get this fixed as soon as possible. [Bug 226905] [NEW] file save dialog doesn't pop up in Firefox 3
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox Choose File - Save Page As... from Firefox 3 (Ubuntu Hardy Heron) and nothing happens. Click on a link to a file and no save dialog pops up. I can't download files from my course website. I was using the Human-Murrine theme, but switched back to the default Human theme and rebooted and still the same problem. The save dialog does appear in other applications like OpenOffice. I am downloading the Epiphany web browser now to see if it works instead. Or else will downgrade back to Firefox 2. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- file save dialog doesn't pop up in Firefox 3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/226905 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 226905] Re: file save dialog doesn't pop up in Firefox 3
It may have been corrupted preferences or something. I changed the preferences for firefox downloads to something else and saved and then changed the preferences back again and it started working again. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released -- file save dialog doesn't pop up in Firefox 3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/226905 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 204857] Re: USB port disabled by hup (EMI? re enabling)
I've been fine since 2.6.24-15 (I think). It was certainly an update from the Ubuntu beta 4 disc but may be included now the official release is out. system/apt-get upgrade should sort things out... dh Mark Cox wrote: Yes, I'm on 2.6.24-16 generic Hardy LTS and the issue seems solved for me. 2008/4/28 hugolp [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Is this suposed to be solved? I installed Ubuntu from the alternate cd and I am getting this problem. Nova-t-500 working randomly and dmesg showing a lot of I2C read failed. My kernel is 2.6.22-14-generic (the one that got installed wiht the cd). Any solution wellcome as this is making my mythtv system unusable. Re: [Bug 204857] Re: USB port disabled by hup (EMI? re enabling)
There has been much discussion on v4l-dvb about this issue so I have alerted them to the potential fix. I really think as a trivial patch that this could save a lot of people a lot of headaches if it is the root cause, so it at least warrants a revisit. Cheers, dh Mark Cox wrote: Hi, I'd agree with that, I to use a Nova T-500, you can't have a simple issue like this in an LTS release, an LTS release is exactly what people would choose to base a mythtv system on. I don't mind pulling changes from v4l-dvb but I don't fancy building a new kernel to fix a simple issue. -- USB port disabled by hup (EMI? re enabling) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204857 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
