[Bug 1894017] Re: Keyboard not working
Hello, this also happens on my laptop, Lenovo l390 Yoga. My "cat /sys/class/dmi/id/chassis_type" is 31, my laptop is indeed convertible. I have verified that everything is broken on 1) Xorg, gnome or KDE 2) sddm but it works on 1) gdm3 2) wayland What doesn't work: my keyboard doesn't work, the fn lock led is permanently on, my caps lock led doesn't turn on when I press caps lock, the physical touchpad buttons don't work. My touchpad tap and tracking work, and also my touchscreen. I can login into wayland by carefully using the on screen Qt keyboard of SDDM. If by chance I press any keyboard key, asin comment #34, I get a stream of characters inside whatever prompt is focused that makes it impossible to login (same thing happens on focused prompts if I log into X11). I tried using evemu inside wayland as suggested in #38, and I found the switch for tablet mode, which looks correct to me. I wonder what would happen inside X11, but I don't have an external keyboard to test this atm. I tried the intel_vbtn blacklist thing, but it didn't make a difference. How is it possible that when logging into Wayland the problem disappears? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1894017 Title: Keyboard not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1894017/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1936718] [NEW] login screen can be bypass
Public bug reported: on Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS Hello, I don't know if it's worth it, but you'll know. from working on the graphic mode, if I go to the text terminal mode using [Ctrl]+[alt]+[F3] login do some work or not, then want to go back to graphic mode with [Ctrl]+[alt]+[F1]. Normally, I should be login to the graphic mode to go back, but if you use [Ctrl]+[alt]+[F2] instead, it bypasses de login screen. Tried it with both of my PC's, same thing. I tried it on X11 and Wayland, same thing. If we wait long enough to pass the preset time out of the graphic mode when on text terminal , and try to come back to graphic, it disables the bypass. But, if you were listening a web radio on Firefox in between, the bypass is still accessible way after the time out. Have a nice day. E. [Bug 1855892] Re: nvme SSD disk not appearing at S3 resume
** Description changed: System apparently correctly suspends (in various ways - from gnome menu, with pm-suspend on bash, with echo ... > /sys/power/pm_test) and resumes bringing up X, gnome, consoles, mouse, keyboard - but not the nvme SSD. Since I have the OS on that, no command relying on disk files is recognized, and I'm forced to hard power off by long press on power button. [Bug 1838897] Re: LTS dist upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 ok, then directly to 18.04 failure with dependency problems
I learnt how to mount an usb-key and also to handle an us keyboard from the command line, and so I can attach the apt-term.log. Is there any chance to recover the installation for me? [Bug 1838897] Re: LTS dist upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 ok, then directly to 18.04 failure with dependency problems
As I suspected it became impossible to boot on Ubuntu after this installation bug. I tried all versions but I am unable to boot even with recovery mode, 18.04 and 16.04 as well. I write this comment using an old "Windows 7" (first login on this dual- boot in years)! If you ask me to attach a log, you will have to teach me how to make this miracle happen, because I'm unable to connect an usb- key from the command line... Should I submit a question instead of a bug, so I have a better chance to get help? [Bug 1838897] [NEW] LTS dist upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 ok, then directly to 18.04 failure with dependency problems
Public bug reported: Hello, lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Release:18.04 I am not sure what the package name is for the update manager, so I check the "I don't know" option, sorry for that. I try this one, just in case: apt-cache policy update-manager update-manager: Installé : 1:18.04.11.10 Candidat : 1:18.04.11.10 Table de version : *** 1:18.04.11.10 500 500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:18.04.11 500 500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages 500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main i386 Packages I upgraded with the update manager (with the GUI) from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, This was perfectly done, I rebooted with the new 16.04 version, and tried several programs: mail, network, firefox, gedit, libreoffice... everything was fine, so 10 minutes after, I launched the update manager with the GUI again to Upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. I did this Without having done any other update using the 16.04 LTS. The packages were downloaded ok, but the installation failed with multiple messages like this one (may not be accurate, I translate "on the fly" from french). Sorry, I did not find any log to copy those messages, and the files cannot be browsed from the gui anymore. I had to search the files and edit them with "vi" (gedit was no more usable), and found nothing useful. So here is(are) the message(s): "Impossible to install «systemd» The upgrade will continue, but the package «systemd» may not run. Please do report this as a bug." Then: "installed systemd package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1". Then I had more than 20 packages ending to similar error messages: "dependency problems - leaving unconfigured" Among those broken packages: systemd-sysv, init,dbus-user-session, policykit-1, aptdaemon, synaptic, gnome-settings-daemon, mutter, gnome-shell, policykit-1-gnome, update-manager, update-notifier, ubuntu-system-service, network-manager, netwirk-manager-pptp, network-manager-gnome... etc. With libpam-systemd package there was an error number displayed with the message: 66.8035: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured. I am filing this bug before I reboot, I don't even know if I will be able to restart a previous Ubuntu version. Please tell me if I can help adding commands outputs or attaching log files, and where I am supposed to find those logs... I saw other similar bugs or this question: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/670525 ... but nothing was close enough to my problem, so here I am. Thank you for your understanding and hints... [Bug 1710346] Re: Drag & drop from the desktop freezes partially the PC
Dear all, I switched to 17.10 on Friday and I noticed the same exact problem. This is not solved, because my Ubuntu version is fully updated. when I drag and drop files from the desktop to an open nautilus window, the mouse cursor gets stacked and the only solution to unblock the situation is to restart the laptop. Killing nautilus does not solve the problem, therefore it seems unlikely to me that the bug is related to nautilus. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1710346 Title: Drag & drop from the desktop freezes partially the PC To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1710346/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1564470] Re: Unable to install NI-VISA nikal kernel module because of GPL-only symbol 'pgprot_writecombine'
It's neither a Ubuntu bug, nor a upstream one. Instead it's entirely NI's fault: they're using an GPL-only symbol (which IIRC always has been GPL-only!) in their proprietary kernel driver. (the idea of binary-only kernel drivers alone is quite insane in the first place). The only serious fix is NI releasing their driver as GPL, or somebody reverse-engineering it and writing a free driver. [Bug 1665454] Re: System error due to bind9 librairies not "up to date"
Hello Christian, No problem at all with the status change. I don't think that the bug bug 1401055 is similar to mine. I carefully searched my log file but did not find any of the keywords that were present in this bug report. I did not find hints showing that an install which failed. I may be wrong but the bug 1401055 says: "libbind9-90 (not installed)", and it was not my problem. This library was installed, it was just a version which was older that the one expected. Anyway I will still make some searching, if I find something I will report it. Thank you for your concern, have a nice week-end. [Bug 1665454] [NEW] System error due to bind9 librairies not "up to date"
Public bug reported: Each time I logged on in Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty), a pop-up appeared with the message "System error". The message appeared twice, a few seconds after the beginning of the session. It appeared never a third time in the same session. I sometimes clicked on "cancel", or sometimes on "report the problem". But the problem kept happening, After my acknowledgement of the message, everything seemed to be ok, I could work normally in my session. With the details of my reports, I could see this had something to do with those elements: (I may write them down wrong, because I did it manually, I was not able to copy-paste them) bind9-host libbind9-90 libisc95 libisccc90 libisccfg90 liblwres90 libpam-systemd libsystemd-daemon0, libsystemd-jouran0, libsystemd-login0, libudev1 systemd-services udev So I went in synaptic, searched for libbind9-90, and discovered that there was a little "!" icon on the left. I could right-clic on the "select for update" menu, and following dependencies were automatically selected: bind9-host, dnsutils, libdns100, libisc95, libisccfg90, liblwres90 I clicked on "apply changes", and then the problem seems to be solved. I don't think there are side-effects, but I don't know why those libraries were to be changed, because my system is up to date (reminder: it's only 14.04 trusty, though) Hope this helps, thank you for your attention. I don't need to be helped (my system is running OK), I'm just trying to help you. Of course I will have a look if you need me to search further on my system settings. [Bug 1574818] [NEW] Selected file from search is not actually selected
Public bug reported: I was looking for useless files in a folder and I've used the File's search feature. It works fine, but when I search something (e.g. .SVG files) the first file on the list appears selected, but it isn't! I've found this bug because I tried to select all the files clicking on the last one while holding SHIFT, but File selected only the item I've clicked on. I can't explain the problem very well, so I've recorded a video about this problem (see the attached file). You can see that the first file looks selected (it's in orange), but when I click on another file holding SHIFT, the selection goes only on the file I've clicked and not on all files from the first one and the one I've clicked on. >> English must be present for this control to work, so you need to reinstall English. Hi, I have reinstalled English and now it works. It's strange because before I tried to remove English, the same behaviour didn't work. So I've tried to remove English and now I've installed it again.
