i again

a. first of all you were 100% write - stopping Kwin compositing did stop
the porblem, though i didn't find a specific desktop effect causing it
directly... i tried removing them one by one.

b. thank you for your assistance, i'll be sure to install the new kernel
& mesa-dri version (maybe not right away) and will be sure to let you
know whether or not te problem is solved.

c. could you send me a link from which i can find ths mesa-dri-driver
7.8 ... i wasn't able to fine anyting newer than 7.7.

if you need anyting else from me let me know, or if you want me to try
anything else i'm available

thanks again

[Bug 531525] [NEW] drag and drop action causes immediate logoff

2010-03-03 Thread grawcho
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

i drive an old machine (compaq presario 2800) with an ATI screen (radeon 7500).
with a lucid kernel and 9.10 kubuntu packages (kde)
while dragging and dropping items on my desktop, discovered mainly in Dolphin
my machine immediately logs off
terminating the kdm session and also stopping tailf logging so i don't see
anything special on the log

i affricate any kind of help

may be connected my computer is not able to "go to sleep"
it sleeps with the fan in full speed
i know i should upgrade my machine but so far (until installing 10.4 lucid
kernel) all was well

thanks
