[Bug 1959665] Re: linux-image-5.4.0-97.110 freezes by accessing cifs shares

2022-02-09 Thread kaiszy
Hi Tim,

i also can confirm that 5.4.0-99.112 fixes the bug. Testscript runs for
more than a hour with this kernel without freezing the machine.

Thanks!

[Bug 1959665] Re: linux-image-5.4.0-97.110 freezes by accessing cifs shares

2022-02-01 Thread kaiszy
Hi,

thanks for the fast reply! I have just installed it:

:~$ uname -a
Linux foo.bar 5.4.0-98-generic #111~lp1959665.1 SMP Tue Feb 1 19:50:04 UTC 2022
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I mount all shares and start my tests (ncdu and a simple bash
testscript). With 97#110 it takes 30 seconds to crash a machine. ...with
the 98#111 the scripts work (i abort the test after 60 minutes). I dont
get a kernel panic with this kernel. Maybe Sebastian can confirm this ?

Hi Ondrej,

you are right...and not :) With a free in sh you see that the memory
usage goes up. Because Clint (he is the expert) says that he don't lose
any memory i thought it was a problem on my system and develop a
workaround for our deployment software.

But shame on my the i did not send further informations like clint asked
for ;)

[Bug 1044430] [NEW] Php ftp_* eats memory

2012-08-31 Thread kaiszy
Public bug reported:

Hi!

Today i write a small Transport-Class for my web deployment-System.
Its a php-Script behind apache2 where i can post json_arrays to and
the deployserver than starts to get git-Repository, check files and
deploy them by ftp, ftps and so on.

I wonmder about memory usage when in transfer big projects
(typo3-Projects for example). I use xdebug to find memory leaks and
firgure out that ftp_* Commands in php are the memory eater.

So i write a small script that only connects to a ftp-server and ftp_put
a file 1 times and then close the connection.

Result: The memory gets lower and lower and also after ftp_close never
will be free'd. Only a restart of apache2 helps.

Hi!

Ups, you are right...the fast solution have to be:

  mv /usr/sbin/update-rc.d /usr/sbin/update-rc.d-ok
  echo update-rc.d-ok cron defaults /usr/sbin/update-rc.d
  chmod 755 /usr/sbin/update-rc.d
  apt-get install cron
  mv /usr/sbin/update-rc.d-ok /usr/sbin/update-rc.d

Prem, thanks for your hint!

[Bug 354589] Re: package cron 3.0pl1-100ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-07-07 Thread kaiszy
Hi!

problem was the script postinst inside den package. There was a line:

  update-rc.d cron multiuser 89 11 /dev/null

The syntax for update-rc.d is not correct so that you get the
errormessage.

Fast solution (dangerous if you do a typo!):

  mv /usr/sbin/update-rc.d /usr/sbin/update-rc.d-ok
  echo update-rc.d cron defaults /usr/sbin/update-rc.d
  chmod 755 /usr/sbin/update-rc.d
  apt-get install cron
  mv /usr/sbin/update-rc.d-ok /usr/sbin/update-rc.d

Best solution:

Packagemaintainer put a new script inside

After the fast solution you will be able to upgrade again ;)

[Bug 286563] Re: After kernelupdate 2.6.24-19-generic to 2.6.24-21-generic eth0 disappear (ATL1e)

2009-02-22 Thread kaiszy
Hi Dan,

yes, it's an issue for me ;) With newer kernels the system crash (please
see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/323572). That
means that i still have to use kernel 2.6.24-19.

Best regards,
  Kai.

[Bug 329682] [NEW] samba lock files (also local ones)

2009-02-15 Thread kaiszy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

Hi!

Since several week i have a big problem with my samba-server: When i try
to get access to a file from a client, the client hangs. Then i try to
access the file direct on the samba-server with same effect (client
hangs). When i access other files, it work (both, from client and on
sambaserver direct).

After shutdown the sambaserver (/etc/init.d/samba stop) i can access the
file local on the sambaserver (but of course not from a client).

When i make a ps fax after the sambaserver stops there will be one
smbd process that is still running. I have to kill it with kill -KILL
pid to stop it (and restart the sambaserver. When i start the
sambaserver again everything works well (untikl next lock).

In the logfiles there is nothing special.

As attachment you will find further information.

CU,
   Kai.

maybe this is a hint: When i do ps fax i see:

 7769 ?Dl 0:00 \_ nautilus --no-default-window
--sm-client-id default2
 7842 ?Z 0:00 | \_ [gnome-mount] defunct

How can i debug gnome-mount ? There is nothing in /var/log/* from gnome-mount.

CU,
  Kai.

[Bug 321568] Re: nautilus: Will open no Window

2009-01-27 Thread kaiszy
I have done :) The problem: If gnome is once loaded nautilus will open
fast (also if i logoff/logon). If i create another user and login
immediate after reboot, it takes round about 5 minutes to open nautilus.

Also the background-picture i have selected for my dekstop will appear
after round about 5 minutes.

Thats right for all users (also new created). When i make a ps fax
before embargo time is over, is see that there was a gnome-mount
Zombieprocess.

Thanks!

CU,
  Kai.

[Bug 321568] [NEW] nautilus: Will open no Window

2009-01-26 Thread kaiszy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Hi!

Since one of the last updates (sorry, i don't know which one) it takes a
very long time to start nautilus. When i do a check, everything seems to
be OK:

k...@ubuntu-home:~$ nautilus -c
running nautilus_self_check_file_utilities
running nautilus_self_check_file_operations
running nautilus_self_check_directory
running nautilus_self_check_file
running nautilus_self_check_icon_container
running nautilus_self_check_file_utilities
running nautilus_self_check_file_operations
running nautilus_self_check_directory
running nautilus_self_check_file
running nautilus_self_check_icon_container

But when i make (in my homedir):

k...@ubuntu-home:~$ nautilus

Nothing happen for a long time (5 Minutes or so). Then nautilus will
open. I think that maybe my harddisk is damaged. But every other
application work fast (also midnight commander works fast in my
homedir).

After 5 Minutes i will get the following output from nautilus:

k...@ubuntu-home:~$ time nautilus
Initializing nautilus-share extension
seahorse nautilus module initialized

** (nautilus:8548): WARNING **: Unable to add monitor: Nicht unterstützt

Please ask your system administrator to enable user sharing.

As attachment you will find my system information.

Thanks!

Best regards,
  Kai.

[Bug 252105] [NEW] After Installation of virtualbox my nvidia-driver did'nt work anymore

2008-07-26 Thread kaiszy
Public bug reported:

Hi!

I have successfull installed the nvidia-Driver 173.14.09 for my
Graphiccard NVidia GT9600 on Ubtuntu 8.04. Then i decide to install
virtualbox. After installation of virtualbox the xserver starts with a
warning low resolution window and the nvidia-setting say's that the
driver isn't loaded.

So i deinstall virtualbox. Same as above. Then i install the nvidia-
driver again. After this action the xserver loads the nvida-driver
correct.

I retry it (install virtualbox). Same effect (low resolution window an
not loaded nvidia-driver).

Then i try to download virtualbox direct from www.virtualbox.org and
install it: Same effect: Not loaded nvidia-driver an low
resolutionwindow.

Maybe cause of the nmi (i think virtualbox do something with it) ?

Best regards,
  Kai.

So i unplug the floppy...but without effect.

My System:

I tried out several configurations for the controller (ide, sata, ahci)
